High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 301: Chapter 225 What Gift to Give_1

Still obsessing over what gift to give Elena up until Saturday noon, during his visit to Doctor Du Zemu’s research institute for a follow-up examination of the elves, Zheng Qing found himself greatly troubled.

As a student, his choices were severely limited.

The jewelry from the Shepherdess was mostly imbued with the blessings of high-ranking wizards. A plain, unadorned ring would cost three jade coins, non-negotiable. Not to mention the attractive pins, hair clasps, and jades that would make a scholarship student too embarrassed to even inquire about their prices from the puppet woman guarding the shop.

Though the make-up from Mirror Designs was reasonably priced, Zheng Qing didn’t know Elena’s favorite colors or scents, nor did he know if she had a preferred brand. Buying a product from a brand she detested, in a color and scent she disliked, would be quite grim. Just the thought was enough to induce despair.

As for flowers, Zheng Qing didn’t even consider this option. Even the tricksters in the North District of Beta Town could pull a bunch of fresh roses blooming brightly from their hats, much less an honor roll student from Wizard University. Moreover, what kind of flowers would suffice to soothe a wounded Gypsy witch’s heart?

Distressed, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but miss the omniscient Mother Du.

Although her advice was somewhat infamous, in desperate times, she always came up with suggestions - no matter how good or bad, it was at least better than having a head full of chaos.

If all else fails, buy a Pandora magic box.

While helping the doctor grind medicine, Zheng Qing decided in his heart and thought bitterly: it all comes down to luck and character. My horoscope is very solid!

The Pandora Magic Box sold at the Apple Tower was just like its name. Until the wizards opened it, they had no idea what was inside. It might be a rare Green Pattern Crystal, or a broken magical tool, or just a bunch of grass, with traces of rodent teeth marks on it.

One must admit, the thoughts that emerge in moments of desperation are quite crazy.

”If you plan to poison those little elves of yours, you could just feed them nettle wine. You don’t need to waste the more valuable nettle seeds.” Doctor Du Zemu’s sigh echoed in Zheng Qing’s ears, startling the young scholarship student.

”Ah, I’m so sorry, so sorry!” Zheng Qing looked at the impurities mixed into the jade bowl, his complexion pale with fright, as he apologized repeatedly: ”I got lost in my thoughts earlier...I’m really very sorry!”

”It’s okay, the main medicine is your Sand Hour royal jelly...the only portion. If it’s wasted, it’s your loss,” Doctor Du Zemu responded with a straight face.

Zheng Qing was even more embarrassed.

”You seem a bit distracted,” said Jiang Yu, who just added a finely cut mulberry leaf into the boiling medicinal mixture and raised her head to look at Zheng Qing, ”Is it because of a headache aftermath?”

Zheng Qing gave a wry smile, vaguely agreeing.

In some ways, Elena’s troubles can indeed be considered an aftermath of a headache.

With Doctor Du Zemu’s warning, until the elves took their medicine prepared with the Sand Hour royal jelly, Zheng Qing dared not distract himself.

”Assuming nothing unexpected happens, the physical examination data of these elves should remain stable every day next week,” The doctor read through Zheng Qing’s compiled examination records, marked them with a feather pen, and said rapidly, ”The daily checkups are still a must, as the accumulation of relevant data is critical for you to complete this experiment... oh, to save these little critters.”

Carrying a group of sleepy elves, Zheng Qing bowed respectfully and thanked them.

Some of the shadows that had been haunting his heart since the start of the semester seem to finally be dispelling.

The stewardess who had died unexpectedly in the duty room, the hoarse laughter of that demoness named Nikita, the blood spilling on the wooden floor, they all seemed to have turned into ashes along with Doctor Duzem’s ticks and crosses.

”Thank you for all your trouble during this period.” Jiang Yu stood aside and smiled softly, ”I heard from Uncle Constantin that you plan to do some deeper experiments on artificial life and need some experimental materials... I wrote a letter to my grandmother a while ago, and she highly praised your research results in her reply. She agreed to increase support for the institute.”

Doctor Du Zemu finally let go of the rigid expression on his face, his eyes shocked.

”Really... thank you so much.” He spread his hands, standing there with no idea what to do. It seemed like he wanted to hug the young witch in front of him but was afraid it might be inappropriate, so he forcefully suppressed this impulse.

His behavior seemed very strange.

Jiang Yu gave a gentle smile, stepped forward, and gave the doctor a light hug.

”Keep going!” She clenched her fist and swung vigorously in mid-air.

A radiant smile bloomed on Doctor Du Zemu’s face.

This joy from within seemed to trigger some mysterious magical rule, and everyone present involuntarily showed their smile.

Old servant Constantin stood in a corner of the yard, looking at the doctor’s joyous smile with narrowed eyes, as he rolled up his sleeves and wiped the corners of his eyes.

Zheng Qing stood behind Jiang Yu,

The sunlight enveloped her, coating her graceful figure with a layer of brilliant color.

The young cost student felt a slight stirring in his heart.

...

Leaving the Abnormal Life Research Institute, walking through winding, deep lanes, sharp, short insect sounds are heard around, ahead is a gloomy alleyway, the blue sky overhead seems like a thin line, seeming exceptionally distant.

Zheng Qing held a cardboard box, engaged in a fierce battle in his mind.

Until the light at the mouth of the alley came into sight, he finally made up his mind.

”Can you accompany me to the pedestrian street?” Zheng Qing plucked up his courage to look at the witch next to him, the fingers holding the box trembled slightly because of the excessive force.

Jiang Yu looked at him with surprise.

”I have a favor to ask you...” Zheng Qing stammered out his words, appearing incoherent: ”If you have time.”

”Of course.” Jiang Yu seemed to find his performance quite interesting, the corners of her mouth slightly turned up: ”You look a little strange.”

”I’m under massive pressure.” Zheng Qing instantly breathed a sigh of relief, revealing a look of relief.

A few minutes later.

On the pedestrian street of Beta Town.

The Saturday afternoon crowd flooded like a tide, the mingling figures of people coming and going, the cries of vendors and the cheerful laughter of customers intertwined, everything seemed so harmonious.

Except two young figures.

The young male and female wizards stood in front of a shop on the pedestrian street.

Jiang Yu’s gaze moved between the shop plaque and Zheng Qing’s face.

Zheng Qing was holding a straight face, pretending to be casual.

”Honestly,” Jiang Yu glanced at the shop in front of her, then gave Zheng Qing a sidelong glance with a subtle expression: ”I really didn’t expect you to come to this place.”

”Not just you,” Zheng Qing finally couldn’t hold it back, he looked around nervously, and whispered: ”I can’t believe it myself.”

”Yes... life always is full of all kinds of surprises.” The witch let out a string of silver-bell-like laughter, took the lead to push the door and go in.

Zheng Qing breathed a sigh of relief, lifted his head, and again looked at the shop’s nameplate above the door.

The fluttering silk cloth held the three characters ’Green Xifang’ barely visible.
