High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 323: Chapter 247: Hero_1

”Look at the robes, they seem to be from the Wizard Union.”

”Technically speaking, it’s the Wizard Council... They’re usually at odds with First School, why are they attending today’s opening ceremony?”

”Could they be the legendary inspection team stationed at First School? I heard that this inspection team will be staying in the school for three months.”

”Then what are they doing at the opening ceremony?”

”The Trident Sword! There are people from the Trident Sword among them...”

”The Trident Sword is specifically for capturing demons... Could there really be a demon among the new students?”

The new students are exceptionally curious about the new figures that have appeared in the hall, all speculating about their identities and various thrilling reasons without any hesitation.

Zheng Qing doesn’t have these doubts.

Upon seeing the plump figure and the oddly familiar baby face, he suddenly recalled the matter that Old Yao had confided to him after yesterday’s meeting.

So he habitually reached for his grey cloth bag, planning to review his speech one last time before going on stage—although it was all nonsense, it was also something he had spent quite an effort on, composing it for several hours yesterday!

But after searching for a while, he couldn’t find that adorable little piece of paper.

As if struck by lightning.

Zheng Qing abruptly remembered something, his arm stiffened mid-air.

”This is bad...really bad.” He turned around in a panic, grabbed onto Doctor Xiao’s arm, shook it vigorously, and asked in a nervous voice, ”Do you happen to have a prepared award acceptance speech... or something like that?”

”Award acceptance speech?” Xiao Xiao frowned, gently shaking his head, ”Who would write that kind of nonsense on their notebook!”

”Are you going to receive an award?” Xin Fat Man keenly picked up the key point in Zheng Qing’s sentence, his eyebrows raised in surprise, ”What award! Why didn’t we know about it...”

”Why should I tell you!” Zheng Qing was frustratedly shaking off the chubby hand that Xin Fat Man placed on his shoulder, his voice filled with disappointment, ”Since this morning when I left, I remembered having something to bring...it’s all because of you, making so much noise for nothing in the early morning, I left my prepared speech in the drawer at home.”

”Blaming me?” Xin Fat Man shrugged his shoulders laboriously, spread his hands, and there was a smile of schadenfreude on his face, ”If you had spent five minutes helping me find my magic curse homework this morning, you wouldn’t have forgotten your speech.”

Zheng Qing was disheartened and made no retort.

Seeming to sense his master’s low spirits, Poseidon wriggled out of Li Meng’s arms, swung his big tail, leaped back onto Zheng Qing’s shoulder, and then extended his pink little tongue, affectionately slathering him with slobber.

This made the young scholarship student even more despondent.

”Do you know those two from the Wizard Council?” Zhang Ji Xin also came over, his face filled with curiosity, ”Looking at the talisman papers on their bodies, everyone is saying that they are from the Trident Sword...”

”They are indeed from the Trident Sword.” Zheng Qing took a deep breath, brightened up, and patiently explained, ”I don’t know that tall skinny male mage, he might be some big shot from the Trident Sword...The guy following him is short and fat with a doll-like face, I’ve seen him in the Great Ming Pavilion, his name is Andrew, he belongs to the Rapid Response Group for Unexpected Incidents in the Wizard Union’s Investigation Bureau, he’s a registered wizard, I think he’s also a graduate of our school...”

”Andrew?” Zhang Ji Xin squinted his eyes; his face turning a bit purple, ”Why does this name sound so familiar...seems like I’ve heard it somewhere.”

”Andrew Taylor, alpha college’s new student this year, the young master of the Taylor family, is currently standing at your seven o’clock position, a hundred steps away.” Xiao Xiao didn’t even blink an eyelid, he hummed, ”Last practical class, you and Xin Fat Man embarrassed that young master a lot...did you forget?”

”Oh! It’s that wolf cub!” Zhang Ji Xin suddenly realized, and he fiercely pounded his right fist into his left palm, nodding in agreement, ”I just knew this name sounded familiar...”

”Fool.” Doctor Xiao finally couldn’t suppress his anger, he glared at him, and scolded in a low voice, ”If you were more observant, you could have noticed that the Andrew from the Trident Sword is Oriental...his last name is An, the first name is De Lu.”

”And the wolf cub you mentioned, who has an entirely Western face, his last name is Taylor, and first name is Andrew!”

”What kind of logic does it take to mix up these two people!” Doctor Xiao finally sighed helplessly, shaking his head, ”Have you trained so much that your muscles have now entered your brain?”

”Not yet,” Zhang Ji Xin grinned, ”My elder brother said that our family’s secret method must reach above the tenth layer, equivalent to the level of a great mage, to be able to train the muscles into the brain...I’m still far from it.”

Finally, Zheng Qing forgot about his despondence from a few seconds ago and burst out laughing.

The others also started laughing.

For a moment, the surrounding air seemed to liven up quite a bit.

”Quiet!” Jiang Da Headmaster finally couldn’t suppress his anger, once again wedged himself in front of the few male students, his pretty face slightly cold, ”Out of the entire Jiuyou Academy, only your area is the messiest...look at the other academies. Can’t you avoid losing face in public?”

The male students all raised their hands in unison, sealing their mouths, indicating surrender.

Jiang Yu stomped her foot in vexation, stretched out a hand, and pulled Poseidon down from Zheng Qing’s shoulder, then turned around and plucked the Fat Cat from Xin Fat Man’s arms.

”If you two cause more trouble, I’ll stew you both for dinner!” she warned fiercely before leaving.

Poseidon and Tuan Tuan drooped their tails, their little faces scrunched.

Zheng Qing blinked, cautiously waving and saying goodbye to his little fox.

The fat man squinted his eyes, attempting to squeeze out a few tears from under his eyelids. However, his jubilant grin betrayed his true feelings.

”I bet she won’t stew them.” The fat man leaned towards Zheng Qing’s ear and whispered, ”Even if she stews that fat cat, it might be good news for our dormitory...”

Zheng Qing chuckled awkwardly, choosing to keep his mouth shut and not say another word.

In the center of the hall.

The emcee professor reappeared before everyone.

The huge roster in his hand had disappeared, replaced by a slim redwood hardcover handbook.

”Next, I have an additional item to include in this year’s opening ceremony.” The emcee professor said cheerfully, his voice sounding more lively:

”As you all know, a female demon appeared on the school’s chartered flight this year... Undoubtedly, this is a serious failure on the school’s part.”

”But in this sudden disaster, some new students showed great courage and firm belief when facing the demon.”

”The Alliance University is proud of you.”

Warm applause broke out in the hall.

Many of the new students at Jiuyou Academy turned their heads, looking for Zheng Qing and the others—the story of several young wizards resisting the female demon in the cafeteria thanks to Sir Toffriedman had been widely spread even before the school year started.

Fat Man Xin tried to straighten up and pressed his slightly crumpled robe to make himself look more upright.

Zhang Ji Xin was unfazed, waving his hand with a radiant smile on his face.

Xiao Xiao was still looking down, silently flipping through his notebook.

Only Zheng Qing, was trying to reduce his presence, attempting to hide in the shadows of his companions.

”I hate these kinds of things the most,” he muttered quietly, talking to himself: ”Drawing attention to myself, like an actor...”

”Similarly,” the emcee professor’s voice suppressed the enthusiasm of the crowd.

The applause gradually subsided.

”In the series of well-known terrorist attacks that occurred in August, several Four Seasons Pavilions under the Wizarding Alliance were attacked by wild demons of unknown identity.”

”The casualties were heavy.”

”Only one Four Seasons Pavilion was spared...”

At this point, the emcee professor paused, gathering his emotions:

”Because a hero stepped forward!”

”He stood in front of the raging wild demon!”

”He used a Thunder Curse, a talisman paper, almost destroying an entire street, intimidating the arrogant wild demon, and ending its sinful life!”

The Great Hall erupted in astonishment.

The emcee professor had to strain his throat and yell at the top of his voice:

”This hero is our fully-scholarship student this year from Jiuyou Academy of the First University....”

”Student Zheng Qing!”

This time, not only the new students of Jiuyou Academy, but also those from other academies were craning their necks, eager to see the newcomer who was said to have ’destroyed a street with a Thunder Curse’.

Zheng Qing lowered his head, his face flushed crimson.
