High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 142: Chapter 66 M·K·S_1

The sky was somewhat gloomy, with thick clouds obscuring the figure of the sun.

The bluish-white light filtered through the balcony, falling on the large desk, but it did not bring a trace of warmth.

Zheng Qing pulled out a silver pocket watch from his bosom and gently operated the crown of the watch.

This was a twelfth birthday gift from Mr. Wu, and he had always cherished it.

Even though six years had passed, time had not left a single trace on the case of the watch.

’Click.’

The exquisitely engraved case popped open lightly, revealing a dial engraved with intricate scales.

The second hand ticked inside, while the hour and minute hands opened to a graceful angle to the left.

It was now seven-fifty in the morning.

He still had over an hour before the time he was supposed to meet Jiang Yu.

On the desk, Xiao Xiao kept stirring the cup of liquid in which the clump of black hair had soaked, creating whirlwinds of varying sizes.

Zheng Qing pinched the patch of demon hair, carefully discerning the faint scent it emitted.

”I knew it looked familiar,” he muttered, holding the tuft of hair under brighter light, trying to see its color clearly. ”Goddamn.”

Under the light, the slightly whitened roots of the black hair appeared clearly in his line of sight.

He had an expression of ’I knew it.’

Xiao Xiao stopped stirring the nearly solidified liquid and raised an eyebrow. ”From what you’re saying, do you know where this came from? Or more specifically, do you know what demon’s hair this is?”

”Throughout my life, I’ve only encountered two demons.” Zheng Qing rolled the coarse black hairs with tweezers, speaking rather depressedly. ”One was a beautiful woman, whom you’ve also met. I suppose these coarse black hairs are not hers.”

As he said this, he chuckled twice, as if it was a very amusing joke.

But Xiao Xiao remained stone-faced, showing no reaction.

Zheng Qing retracted his smile and, somewhat disappointedly, handed the tuft of black hair to Xiao Xiao, continuing. ”The other one was a pig demon I met at the Great Ming Pavilion. It was a fat man with three layers of chins, and the pig demon he transformed into also had three layers of chins. There was also a greasy Da Lian bag hanging on his back. Very memorable.”

”Is this its scent?” Xiao Xiao took the tuft of black hair and carefully flipped it open, his expression becoming somewhat serious.

”It broke ’Ost’s Guard’ right in front of me. I will never forget those crimson eyes.” Zheng Qing nodded very firmly. ”That pig demon had white fur, and a patch of black hair on its back.”

”It broke ’Ost’s Guard’?” Xiao Xiao finally showed a trace of shock on his face. ”Do you know what this means? This is impossible!”

Zheng Qing gave a wry smile. He pulled out the ”Wizard World Encyclopedia” from a grey cloth bag and slapped it down in front of Xiao Xiao. ”Of course I know, I specially looked up the related information afterward... Of course, at the time I did not understand these things. Thomas, my interviewer, once mentioned this to the Trident Sword’s commissioner, and those commissioners were much more expressive than you... And they also denied the possibility much faster than you.”

”If demons develop a way to destroy ’Ost’s Guard’, then the wizards’ hunting teams will be in big trouble.” Xiao Xiao exhaled long, his tone somewhat heavy.

”No matter how big the trouble, it has nothing to do with us.” Zheng Qing patted the Encyclopedia on the table scornfully. ”The Wizarding Alliance has a whole bunch of powerful wizards who care about this. Do you, a half-bottle of... No, a bottom-of-the-bottle need to shake here? No, you, a bottom-of-the-bottle, can’t even shake in front of them.”

After saying this, without waiting for Xiao Xiao to speak, he raised his voice and continued. ”I guess who sent this letter. Do you remember the curly-haired dog on the plane? The one who sprayed three pounds of perfume... If I remember correctly, that curly dog mentioned that my brother, the pig demon, was also at First University. He might come looking for trouble, so actually, I’ve prepared mentally for it already.”

”Oh!” Xiao Xiao drew out his voice, showing a thoughtful expression.

Obviously, he also remembered that curly-haired dog on the airplane who had sprayed three pounds of perfume.

”Alpha’s scholarship student... the vice president of the student council... seventh in the Starcoin ranking... has his own club... has his own hunting team...” Xiao Xiao murmured, flipping through his notebook rapidly. ”So... it’s obvious.”

Zheng Qing stared at him eagerly, hoping he could reveal the real name of the mysterious ’M·K·S’.

It had only been a week since the start of the school, and various troubles in the academy had made his head spin. He had no time to inquire about Alpha Academy.

In fact, if it wasn’t for the letter from the brother of the pig demon, he probably wouldn’t have remembered this matter until much later.

Xiao Xiao then looked up at Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing saw a hint of pity as well as schadenfreude in his eyes?

”What are you getting at!” He stood upright discontentedly.

”Mike Gold Cypress Plano.” Xiao Xiao smacked his lips and melodiously sang a name.

”Mick... what’s his name again?” Zheng Qing frowned, trying to repeat the difficult name.

Obviously, he was not good at remembering these complex Western names.

”Mike Gold Cypress Plano.” Xiao Xiao put on a serious face, repeated the name, and flipped through her notebook, starting to explain: ”He is one of the Gemini of the Alpha Academy, held on par with Sir Friedman. Although he’s only a sophomore, he’s already considered as the right-hand man of Sir Augustus.”

Zheng Qing knew about Friedman.

It was another name that left a deep impression.

The day before the start of school, because of this name, he ended up fighting with Arthur Ness and his gang on the walking street.

Thanks to them, starting next week, he’d have to patrol Lin Zhong Lake at midnight.

As for Augustus, Zheng Qing vaguely knew that he was one of the two student leaders of the first university, and also the president of the Alpha Academy’s student council. He also knew this wasn’t his real name, it was a title similar to ’Caliph’.

Xiao Xiao didn’t pause for a moment, she quickly flipped through her notebook, marking out key points, and read them aloud:

”In just one year after enrollment, Mike Gold Cypress Plano was elected as the deputy head of Alpha’s student council during the transition at the end of the freshman year, equal to Sir Friedman.”

”In his freshman year, he formed his own club ’Auspicious’, attracting many excellent members. Based on this foundation, he established his own ’Auspicious Hunting Team’ in the second semester and participated in various hunting competitions inside and outside the school.”

”Not long ago, ’Magic Wand’, the grading agency of the first university, conducted a comprehensive survey. Auspicious Hunting Team has been considered as seventeenth strongest hunting team in the entire First University, given its impressive achievements.”

”You should know that the teams ranked ahead are the school team of the first university, the team from the four academy, and the teams formed by those clubs with a long history... excluding these inherent BUG entities, this young hunting team has almost reached its peak.”

”What’s notable is that Mike Gold Cypress Plano doesn’t have a profound family background, his success lies primarily on his personal charm. This point stands out especially in Alpha Academy that values talent.”

”Bang!” Xiao Xiao closed her notebook, her gaze sharply focusing on Zheng Qing: ”And you, killed his brother.”

”Damn it! You can’t just say anything you want!” Zheng Qing jumped up from his chair like a ruffled cat, retorting emphatically: ”I’m such a well-behaved student who respects the norms of good behaviour, loves social and community life, sets a good example for others, and follows the paradigm of ’Good Samaritan’, how am I connected with murder?”

”Killing a boar demon counts too.” Xiao Xiao patted his shoulder, giving him a ’I-have-high-hopes-for-you’ look: ”It doesn’t matter if I believe you or not, but this boss does.”

”Believe this!” Zheng Qing slapped the table in frustration, causing the vase to clatter: ”Does he even have a brain! Can a newbie like me who hasn’t even enrolled yet kill a wild demon?”

”A typical newcomer couldn’t, of course,” Xiao Xiao retorted bluntly: ”But a scholarship student is a different story.”

Zheng Qing was stupefied.

”There’s no need to despair.” Xiao Xiao started to clean up the mess of testing equipment on the table, comforting Zheng Qing: ”He won’t beat you to disability... at most, half to death. After resting and healing for a few days, you’ll be as good as new.”

”Did you take money from him?” Zheng Qing narrowed his eyes, looking at Watermelon Head: ”Why do I feel like you’re trying to intimidate me on his behalf?”

”Do you even need to be intimidated?” Xiao Xiao gave him a look of contempt: ”I’m just trying to wake you up... you’ve completely underestimated the trouble you’re in.”

”It’s all within my expectations.” Zheng Qing braced himself and feigned indifference: ”I knew he was a big shot.”

The schadenfreude on Xiao Xiao’s face deepened.

”What’s with that look!” Zheng Qing looked at her in displeasure.

”Sympathy.” Xiao Xiao sighed and commented: ”He’s impressive, right. But what about them? Didn’t you realize that you’ve almost offended all the big shots of Alpha Academy?”

Zheng Qing was stunned and found himself unable to retort.

Fatty Cat Tuan Tuan, who appeared out of nowhere, was laying down on the corner of the desk, lazily watching the two newcomers bicker.

”Humph!” Zheng Qing suddenly shouted, stomped his feet, jumped in front of the fat cat, and made a fierce face.

Tuan Tuan, caught off guard, yelled in surprise and fell straight from the desk to the floor.

”Hahahaha!” Zheng Qing burst into laughter, feeling refreshed: ”Tiny thing, you dare to compete with me!”

The fat cat shook its messy fur, let out two angry howls, crawled back onto Xin Fat Man’s bed and burrowed into the quilt, nursing its wounded pride alone.

”You can only bully a cat.” Xiao Xiao didn’t bother hiding her contempt: ”Instead of teasing a cat, you should be figuring out how you’ll not get beaten up in the bathrooms by the people from ’Auspicious’.”

”There’s always a way out, besides I have two sidekicks.” Zheng Qing adjusted his robe, patiently buttoning up his two gossip cuffs, checking out the wound around his eyes in the mirror, looking utterly casual: ”Your ointment works pretty well... I need to go attend an appointment, we’ll chat again tonight.”

With that, he picked up the box with the sealed elf on his bed and walked out of the room in a regal manner.
