High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 131: Chapter 55: Silence has Risks_1

The Wandering Bar.

The main hall on the ground floor.

It was still a sea of joy here.

Ghosts were singing softly on stage, showing their trembling soul music; multi-arm musicians were playing drums and guitars, holding multiple positions at once; under the ceiling, little elves were riding silver birds back and forth, serving guests with fine wine and delicacies; Then there was the large frog at the entrance, which somehow sneaked in and was chuckling at the joyful scene before him, reciting a few lines of poetry to make the atmosphere even more lively when guests gave it a few bottles of fine wine.

Leaving the quiet private rooms on the second floor and return to the noisy main floor, Zheng Qing finally felt a sense of return to reality.

By the side of the Wandering Wizard, he always had a strange sense of unease.

It was as if something was watching him.

The night party downstairs was in full swing, but those leaning on the bar and swaying on the dance floor were mostly senior students from the First University, or residents of Beta Town.

Perhaps due to exhaustion, most of the freshmen from Astronomy Class 08-1 had left early.

”What a waste.” Zheng Qing muttered, feeling sorry for them: ”They could have rested a while and continued to play.”

For him, entering a wizard’s bar was a brand new experience, and so was treating a wealthy man - the cost of this party was entirely borne by Class President Tang Dun, and Zheng Qing was inexplicably excited when he first discovered that there was a wealthy man next to him, and always wanted to practice the various policies invented by the grand ancestor.

”Wizards need to learn moderation.” Xiao Xiao warned on the sideline.

”Isn’t it still early? Grandpa Niwu only disappears after eleven... I think we can hang out a little more.” Zheng Qing licked his dry lips, undecided.

It was only about eight o’clock in the evening, and if he went back so early, Zheng Qing would never forgive himself when he was completely sober the next day.

But if he returned a little later, Grandpa Niwu was not a person who would compromise.

Grandpa Niwu was a bronze beast guarding the dormitory area, with a stern personality and a bad temper.

Its figures were distributed in the door niches of every corner of the school leading to the dormitory.

Although it seemed to have many, they were all part of Grandpa Niwu, and in reality, there was only one dormitory supervisor.

In fact, Zheng Qing was quite suspicious about whether this beast that enjoyed smoking was a formal employee of the First University.

Because at half-past eleven every night, Grandpa Niwu would punch out on time and disappear without trace from the door niche where he was staying; at half-past five the next morning, he would appear on time again, opening the door for the students.

It was like this every day, and so it was for every avatar.

Just like a clocking-in official employee.

Students who missed the curfew could only sleep outside the dormitory, under the open sky.

As for where Grandpa Niwu went after he disappeared, there were various theories among the students.

Some people say that this bronze beast still belongs to the product of alchemy and needs to replace parts and upgrade the system from time to time; it should have been recalled by the Alchemy Research Institute every day to undergo routine maintenance;

Some people say that Grandpa Niwu is a living creature, no different from ordinary people, and needs to sleep and replenish energy every day; they just retreat into their cave to rest after disappearing.

Some veterans confidently told the newcomers that they had seen Grandpa Niwu collecting mist by the Lakeside of Bell Lake at midnight.

”A bunch of Grandpa Niwus gathered in a circle, inhaling and exhaling mist as if they were in a meeting, and the whole Lin Zhong Lake was shrouded in mist... you can’t imagine how many doorkeepers there are in the school!” The veterans exaggerated the scene, satisfyingly collecting the shocked gazes of the freshmen.

Thinking of this, Zheng Qing suddenly said, ”I’m sure Grandpa Niwu must like the environment here.”

Xiao Xiao nodded in agreement, a rare occurrence.

This was because the bar was currently filled with various smokes.

There was the cold mist from the melting crushed ice; eerily cold ghostly mist left in the air by wandering spirits; as well as the colourful smog exhaled by the young wizards after eating their smoke candy and the curls of blue smoke left behind after they savoured their cigarettes.

In the crowd of smokers behind the bar, Zheng Qing saw a familiar figure.

Elena.

The beautiful Gypsy witch.

In one hand, she held a wine glass, and in the other, she pinched a silver smoking clip, intently watching the blue smoke rise from her burning cigarette.

Zheng Qing suddenly felt invigoratingly refreshed and his previously indecisive heart suddenly calmed down.

”You follow them first, and help send them home!” He pointed to the multi-arm tribe attendants at the bar door who were supporting two drunks and waiting for directions. He affectionately patted Xiao Xiao’s shoulder: ”I’ve decided to stay here for a while... I wouldn’t miss Grandpa Niwu’s closing time anyway.”

”I can provide him with the map.” Xiao Xiao glanced at the figure in front of the bar, a profound smile on his face: ”In case you get drunk and end up walking down the wrong path... There are quite a few anti-wolf curses near the girls’ dormitory.”

Zheng Qing’s face instantly turned crimson red, and after holding back for a long while, he finally squeezed out a few words between his teeth: ”Back off! What kind of nonsense... why would I go to the girls’ dormitory?!”

Xiao Xiao widened his eyes, appearing extremely innocent: ”Don’t you send someone off after drinking? ... Also, where do you want me to go?”

”Just stay away from the bar, wherever else you go, I don’t care.” Zheng Qing impatiently tried to dismiss him while nervously smoothing out the wrinkles on his robe, then he took those two ”Yin Yang” cufflinks out of the grey bag and carefully pinned them on.

”But this is a bar.” Xiao Xiao shrugged. This action made him look even shorter: ”I remember the wandering wizard gave us a few bottles of wine... How can I drink without going to the bar?”

”Are you doing this on purpose?!” Zheng Qing’s face was somewhat twisted: ”When did you start loving drinks?!”

”A wizard’s business...can you call it deliberate...” Xiao Xiao clicked his tongue and spread out his notebook, putting on a fastidious expression: ”Intention implies deliberation ... Magic happens spontaneously, which is unintentional ... So it can’t be called deliberate.”

Zheng Qing silently watched Xiao Xiao.

For one whole minute.

Watermelon Head still had an indifferent expression.

”Starting tomorrow, I have two hitters. Red Face, Fatty, Double Flower Red Stick.”

Zheng Qing squinted his eyes, stared at Xiao Xiao, and threatened word by word: ”From now on, watch your own backside, otherwise, I’ll let them help you, face down, buttocks up.”

”Understood.” Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses, hugged his notebook, and quietly left the bar.

His decisive action left Zheng Qing somewhat unprepared.

He had planned to bribe Xiao Xiao if his threat failed.

He didn’t expect the shorty to leave so easily.

Looking at Xiao Xiao’s departing figure, Zheng Qing felt a chill run down his spine.

He wondered if he should rush after him and try to placate him.

But when he turned his head and saw another alluring figure, any unease in his heart was immediately tossed aside.

”He wouldn’t really draw a circle and curse me in the middle of the night, would he?” Mumbling to himself, he put on a smile and approached the bar.
