High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 121: Chapter 45 The Tradition of the Nes Family_1

The three-dimensional image projected from the law book on the ground was extraordinarily lifelike.

A few old students from Alpha, tall as real people, their expressions and attitudes vivid as life.

Zheng Qing could even clearly see a hint of hidden disdain on Arthur·Ness’s face.

It was identical to the smirk of the blonde boy in his memory.

Hypocrite, arrogant.

Although the confrontation on the street had only been a week ago, it felt like a long time ago in Zheng Qing’s mind.

The image of Arthur·Ness was somewhat blurry in his mind.

Only this impression of hypocrisy and arrogance left a deep impression.

More accurately, Zheng Qing’s impression of Arthur·Ness is always of the guy holding a wine glass and lifting his chin at the pedestrian street.

Since entering the school, countless new things have been happening around him every day.

If not for the invitation from the club, Zheng Qing might have already forgotten about this senior student from Alpha who was hit by his talisman paper and landed in the mud.

”The conflict between you two on the pedestrian street was very interesting. If I didn’t mistake it, this child from the Ness family was once hit by your suppression symbol into the mud.” The wandering wizard laughed and gave him a thumbs up. ”Very commendable action.”

Zheng Qing was slightly embarrassed, his face flushed.

He found that no matter how many times people praised him, he always felt awkward.

To alleviate his unease, Zheng Qing changed the subject.

”Who is that black-haired, East Asian-looking guy?” He pointed at the figure in the middle of the projection and asked Xiao Xiao quietly.

Xiao Xiao hesitated unusually then shook his head, indicating he didn’t know.

This was even more surprising than the image in front of him.

”You actually don’t know something!” He whispered, looking at the watermelon-headed man next to him with suspicious eyes.

He felt like he was standing next to a fake Xiao Xiao.

”There are tens of thousands of students in the school, do I have to create a file for each of them?” The short man indignantly opened his black-notebook, flipping through the pages noisily.

”But...” Zheng Qing sighed, feeling a bit unreasonable.

”But your father did just that.” The wandering mage interjected, ”In my memory, your father has detailed records of the students of the seven major classes.”

”Him again.” Xiao Xiao was frustrated. He closed the notebook and chugged the green bee on the table.

There were many questions spinning in Zheng Qing’s mind, but the wandering wizard easily shifted the conversation back:

”That guy is called Sima Yi, a student from Alpha Academy Astral 07-1 class.”

”In the whole first year, he’s not particularly outstanding. He never made it on the Arcana list, wasn’t a scholarship student, and his academic achievements weren’t extraordinary, he seldom participated in club activities.”

”You could say, he’s a very low-profile student.”

”Only a few professors have given him high praise — I only found out after paying special attention.”

”If he wasn’t a gold card customer of the wandering bar — not the spendthrift type of customer, but like you, a high-value customer — I probably wouldn’t know him.”

At this point, the wandering mage nostalgically lifted his wine glass, as though toasting the projection of Sima Yi:

”Each year, many excellent wizards emerge from the top universities. But not every excellent wizard leaves a deep impression on me, making me interested in knowing them.”

As he spoke, he raised his glass to Zheng Qing:

”Lei Zhe counts as one, you count as one, and Sima Yi is also one.”

Zheng Qing hurriedly raised his glass and drank a toast with the Wandering Wizard from a distance.

Perhaps because of the effects of the alcohol, his brain was a bit slow.

Many questions in his heart surged to his mouth but he couldn’t express them.

The Wandering Wizard seemed to be a bit tired too, and stopped speaking.

For a moment, the room fell into an eerie silence.

”So it’s this bullying bastard!” Zhang Ji Xin suddenly rose from the sofa — he finally remembered who the people in the projection were.

”What was he doing here!” he exclaimed angrily, standing up and glaring with his reddened, alcohol-soaked eyes, intending to confront Arthur·Ness.

”He’s already left.” Xiao Xiao pulled him back to his seat and pushed a cup of Demon Blood Wine into his hands. ”They were just wandering amongst the crowd, asking what had happened, and then they left... But it seems they had some internal conflicts.”

”Did you see it too?” Zheng Qing looked at Watermelon Head in shock. ”What did they come here for!”

”Perhaps to have a drink, or maybe just to hang out.” The Wandering Mage switched off the projection and looked at the boy across from him, his gaze deep. ”Or maybe they just wanted to meet you.”

Zheng Qing quietly took a sip of Green Bee. He could feel that the Wandering Mage had more to say.

The green liquid coursed over his tongue, exciting his taste buds, causing him to involuntarily squint.

”The people of the Ness family have always been vengeful, this unpopular character is very famous at the Number One University.” The Wandering Mage began to take out several small red lacquer boxes from his coat, slowly placing them on the table.

”I remember more than seventy years ago, the Ness boy studying here had his backpack stolen by the Fishmen of Lin Zhong Lake. For a full four years, he tossed a lump of King Squid feces into the lake every morning. Four years! Rain or shine.”

”Why did he toss feces?” Xin Fat Man asked curiously.

”Perhaps uncle Ferna, the caretaker of the lake, knows the answer... I guess the feces of the King Squid contains something the Fishmen despise.” The Wandering Mage paused before continuing, ”No matter what, those feces stirred up a lot of trouble amongst the Fishmen of the lake. It’s said that during those years, the birth rate of the Fishmen in the lake dropped significantly.”

”The feces of the King Squid belong to the Wizard Covenant’s third-class restricted free trade goods. How would the Ness boy be able to get so many permits?” Xiao Xiao stroke her notebook, looking intently at the Wandering Wizard.

”He didn’t have permits. But he met a few fellows with the goods in my bar.” The Wandering Mage tugged at his pointed hat, hiding his gaze beneath its brim. ”I never prevent healthy interactions amongst my guests.”

Xiao Xiao let out a short, sharp laugh.

”What are these?” Feeling that Xiao Xiao was being rude, Zheng Qing quickly pointed to the row of small boxes on the table and asked.

”Some little things, some people think you’ll need them, so they asked me to bring them to your attention.” The Wandering Mage snapped his fingers, and the lids of the small red lacquer boxes on the table sprang open in unison.

”Miaojiang’s canker worm, epileptic worm, and golden silkworm, Haitian voodoo dolls, Malaysian downfall talismans... These are some revenge-oriented small magics; and there are Black Donkey’s Hooves, Yellow Dog Skin, Five-Colored Peach Seals, Seven-Colored Gourds... These are defensive amulets.” The Wandering Mage extended his skinny finger and pointed at each item, introducing them to Zheng Qing. ”I heard you’re having some trouble at school; some guests thought you would need them and asked me to pitch them to you.”

”Of course, I must admit, I’m not a good salesman.”

”All I can assure you is that these little things are well worth their value.”

Zheng Qing looked at the items in the small boxes in front of him, his back tingling.

The insects were hiding in their cocoons; Zheng Qing couldn’t see their hideous faces. But the eerie smiles on the voodoo dolls and the malicious aura emanating from the downfall talismans made him uneasy.

After a long while, he finally refused in a low voice, ”I don’t have any money.”

”No need for money.” The Wandering Mage smiled at him. ”You are a gold card customer in my shop; you have enough credit to take these little things from the table.”

Zheng Qing looked at the Wandering Mage in surprise.

The Wandering Mage’s face was hidden under his large pointed hood, making his expression unreadable.

”Still, I don’t want them.” Zheng Qing refused. ”I don’t think I’ll need these items in school.”

The others beside him nodded in agreement.
