Chapter 129: Chapter 53: The ’Help’ of the Wandering Wizard_1

As per the calculation carefully deduced by the Wandering Wizard recently, Zheng Qing should pay fifty jade coins, or five hundred standard talismans, for the amulet he purchased today.

He could make the payment interest-free on credit, or use tangible assets for a discount-free mortgage repayment.

After careful consideration, it didn’t seem like these terms were too hard to accept.

With an alcohol-fogged, somewhat dizzy mind, Zheng Qing tried his best to comprehend the information written on the contract.

This wasn’t an easy task.

The technical terms used in the contract were difficult and convoluted, and the formulas interspersed among them made one’s head spin.

But barring minor mistakes, the numbers were accurate.

Underneath his breath, Zheng Qing mumbled that he shouldn’t appear too green under such circumstances.

”So, I just need to sign here, right?” He quietly repeated himself as he accepted the black feather pen handed over by the Wandering Wizard, preparing to sign.

A hand reached out from the side and roughly pinched the fluff on the top of the feather pen.

The black feather pen let out a pain-infused scream while convulsing violently.

It was Xiao Xiao.

”What are you doing?” Zheng Qing quickly loosened his grip on the feather pen, attempting to end the unpleasant screeching noise.

The Wandering Wizard also turned his gaze to Watermelon Head.

”What are you doing!” Xiao Xiao raised his brows and chided Zheng Qing, ”Are you really just going to sign it outright?”

Zheng Qing scratched his temple, looking somewhat perplexed.

He thought that the sooner this is over, the better.

Moreover, shouldn’t there be nothing else to address... right?

”Did you understand the terms in the contract?” Xiao Xiao posed his question.

Zheng Qing coughed heavily twice, subtly shaking his head before dryly retorting, ”Did you?”

”That’s why I stopped you from signing.” The short man gripped the black feather pen firmly in his hand, showing no regards for the neat feathers on both sides of the pen which were being scrambled, ”We just talked about this a few minutes ago... Contracts are something to be approached with caution!”

Oh!

Coming to a realization, Zheng Qing turned to the Wandering Wizard and said, ”Your terms are too complicated. It’s just a small deal; it needn’t be so troublesome.”

The Wandering Wizard looked surprised.

Without waiting for his response, Zheng Qing quickly turned to Xiao Xiao, ”Do you have a new contract?”

”I always carry a few.” The short man nodded satisfactorily, pulling a yellowish parchment from his pocket and spreading it on the bar, a smile dawned on his face, ”This is a debt contract verified by Wizard Covenant, in a standard format. We only need to sign it and fill in the exact amount of the debt... It’s very simple... and authoritative.”

”So you don’t trust me?!” The Wandering Wizard’s laughter ceased, his tone turning serious.

This sentence sounded extremely familiar to Zheng Qing.

”It’s a...routine. Don’t overthink.” Xiao Xiao chuckled and replied.

This sentence as well seemed familiar to Zheng Qing. He scratched his nose averting his gaze, and said nothing.

”You guys are making it hard for me to balance the books!” The Wandering Wizard grumbled reluctantly while signing, ”The standard contracts of the Wizard Covenant are not compatible with my contract book. It can easily cause accounting trouble.”

”Why do you need to balance the books?!” Xiao Xiao, still acting as a witness to the contract, signed his name while shaking his head, ”Everyone knows the nature of this store...”

Zheng Qing chuckled, not uttering a word throughout the signing process.

A streak of flame flashed by.

Upon seeing the drifting green smoke above the small pile of ash, the Wandering Wizard sighed in relief.

Then he eagerly helped the young wizards downstairs.

However, Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao didn’t feel relieved at all.

”We’re just going to carry them back?” Feeling the heavy weight on his shoulder, Zheng Qing cried out in despair, ”For God’s sake! We’re wizards!!”

He faintly heard his bones groan in pain.

”Do you know the Levitation spell?” Xiao Xiao asked, holding up Xin Fat Man’s huge body, his glasses skewed, but his tone was still calm.

”No.” Zheng Qing answered a little dejectedly.

”Can you draw a flying talisman?” Xiao Xiao tried to move Xin’s head off his shoulder, asking strenuously.

”I can’t do that either.” Zheng Qing moved slowly in the stairwell, being careful not to step on Zhang Ji Xin’s big feet, feeling dejected.

”Then why claim to be a wizard?!” Xiao Xiao finally lost her cool and retorted indignantly.

”I think I am...” Zheng Qing argued weakly.

”Need some help?” The Wandering Wizard stood by, holding his tall glass, sipping his ’Time of Flowing Gold’, and asked with a smile.

”Really?” Zheng Qing exclaimed in surprise, ”I mean... Of course, we need help! Thank you so much!”

The Wandering Wizard snapped his fingers, and a tall Multi-Arm Tribe Attendant appeared silently among them.

”Help these two gentlemen back to their dormitory,” the Wandering Wizard instructed.

The Multi-Arm Tribe Attendant nodded smilingly, extending two of his arms from his ribs to each support a drunken man, and lightly stepped downstairs.

Zheng Qing breathed a deep sigh of relief. Before he could express his endless gratitude to the shop owner, his next sentence made Zheng realize the darkness of the wizarding world anew.

”The fee is discounted for gold card customers... receiving a standard talisman will do,” The Wandering Wizard proposed, his arm holding a big book, he asked amiably, ”do you want me to put it on your tab?”

Zheng Qing was at a loss for words for a moment.

”Don’t put it on my tab!” He pulled out his grey cloth bag a little irritably. It still had a few standard talismans.

”Thank you for your patronage!” The Wandering Wizard happily accepted a Tranquility Talisman, his demeanor very amiable, ”If you need anything, just ask... the Wandering Bar always offers the most thoughtful service.”

”Are you by any chance O’Brien or Karen!” Zheng Qing rubbed his shoulder, casting a suspicious glance at the shop owner.

These two surnames belonged to two famous vampire families in the wizarding world.

Zheng Qing had reason to suspect the Wandering Wizard’s identity.

The shop owner sent them downstairs with a smirk, but didn’t answer this somewhat offensive question.

”How stupid I am...” Downstairs, Zheng Qing lifted his somewhat bleary eyes, looking at the candles floating in the ceiling of the bar, muttering, ”I knew this old wizard had no good intentions and would try to cheat me, but I didn’t realize he wouldn’t even spare the fare for a ride...”

”But you didn’t refuse!” Xiao Xiao blocked his subsequent complaints with some impatience.

”Did you know all along that he would charge?” Zheng Qing stared at Xiao Xiao, his voice full of suspicion.

”Yup.” Watermelon Head stretched his arms and legs casually, releasing the fatigue caused by the recent high-intensity pressure.

”Then why didn’t you warn me!” Zheng Qing demanded indignantly.

”Firstly, after several dangerous experiences, you still readily agreed to ’Black Wizard’s’ suggestion, I thought you needed a lesson.”

Zheng Qing sighed, feeling a lot of sense in this remark.

”Secondly, I was too lazy to drag these two idiots that far.”

Zheng Qing glanced at Watermelon Head, feeling that this was the main reason he didn’t give a heads up.

”Thirdly, even if I’d warned you about the charges, would you have refused the help?”

Zheng Qing kept silent, dusting the dust off his robe, looking away sheepishly, without uttering a word.
