High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 112: Chapter 36 Cheap Fluffy Bear_1

As evening approached, the uproar in the bar grew louder and louder.

At a distant table, boys and girls circled around in a guessing game, taking turns to bet on drinks, intermittently erupting in cheers. The ebbs and flows of their voices set the drifting candle flames mid-air trembling.

A team of elves flew down from the ceiling in an orderly manner and landed on the smooth bar counter.

Those glowing little birds transformed into twinkling stars the moment they hit the ground, vanishing into the air.

The elves called out merrily, setting down their wine bottles and fruit baskets, flapping their wings, shuffling their feet, flickering their tiny antennae on their foreheads as they stretched lazily.

This was their brief rest time between work sessions.

The multi-armed bartender, smiling broadly, took the empty fruit platters and wine bottles from them and refilled them.

In a few more minutes, the elves would summon their mounts again, carrying the heavy wine bottles and fruit baskets, to continue providing excellent service to the patrons.

Looking at these lively little creatures, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but think of the dormant elves in the dormitory, which left him a bit melancholic.

Li Meng also seemed to recall the incidents on the charter plane, sighed softly, and her expression turned a tad somber.

”Here’s your mist liquor, please take it slow,” the bartender placed the watered-down mist liquor on the bar counter for Li Meng.

Perhaps there were too many ice cubes added, the mist liquor in the glass lazily flowed at the bottom without forming a swirling air mass. Therefore, the bartender pushed a milky-white straw into the drink especially for the young lady.

Li Meng didn’t care about this at all, her face lighting up again with a joyful smile.

She held her teddy bear and struggled to climb onto the high stool by the bar.

Zheng Qing looked worriedly at the teddy bear in her arms, concerned that its head might be squeezed off by Li Meng’s arms.

”Is this bear really Jiang Yu’s pet?” he couldn’t help but ask.

”Absolutely authentic!” Li Meng gasped for breath after settling down, then promptly shifted the glass on the counter to her bosom and bit down on the straw.

”Using a teddy bear as a pet... that’s a bit unusual.” Zheng Qing found himself unable to understand the aesthetics of young girls in the wizarding world.

”You’re the bear! Your whole family is bears!” The teddy bear in Li Meng’s arms suddenly opened its sewn brown-fabric mouth with its glassy eyes widened. Struggling hard, it shouted at the flabbergasted Zheng Qing, ”Ever seen a talking bear before?”

Zheng Qing was startled.

He shook his head vacantly, but immediately nodded, whispering, ”I’ve heard about it.”

”Have you seen a bear as cute as me?” The teddy bear finally escaped from Li Meng’s embrace, climbed onto the smooth bar counter, stood defiantly in front of Zheng Qing, and scolded Zheng Qing furiously.

Zheng Qing blinked and shook his head vigorously.

”Have you seen a bear as safe as me?” The teddy bear’s glass eyes sparkled, and the seams on its furry body emitted a gentle aura. Zheng Qing noticed that it had a white label around its waist.

”Definitely not!” Li Meng pulled at the teddy bear’s head, enveloped it in her arms again, rubbed it vigorously, and said with a gleeful smile.

”Then why did he call me a bear!” The teddy bear started to struggle again.

”Because you look like one. I mean, your appearance is quite bear-like!” Zheng Qing answered in a somewhat dazed manner.

”You hairless monkey! You’re too impudent!” The teddy bear became agitated again, shrieking as it escaped from Li Meng’s hold once more. Jumping onto the bar counter, the teddy bear decided to teach Zheng Qing a lesson.

However, it came across some obstacles on the counter.

The cluster of resting elves seemed to have found a new toy, as they hurried over, curiously eyeing this brown teddy bear.

The teddy bear, named Li Neng, was stunned by these enthusiastic elves. It just stood there on the bar counter, letting the elves climb all over its fuzzy body, daring not to move.

Hehe, Hehe!

The little spirits were happily dancing on the head of the teddy bear, their bodies shimmering with a green light.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but laugh.

”Would you like some little snacks?” The multi-armed bartender behind the bar pushed a row of cakes in front of the two guests, apologizing, ”The little spirits in the store are a bit naughty, I apologize.”

As he spoke, the bartender handed new fruit baskets and bottles of drinks to the little spirits.

The little spirits reluctantly left the comfy teddy bear.

”No problem, no problem.” Li Meng waved nonchalantly, smiling at the relieved teddy bear, took another big puff from the straw.

”Eat something before you drink.” Zheng Qing passed a piece of strawberry mousse to Li Meng, and turned to smile at Mr. Li Neng, ”Mr. Li Neng, who isn’t a teddy bear, would you like a piece of cake to nibble on?”

The teddy bear paused for a moment.

It strained its glass eyes, puzzling over the meaning of Zheng Qing’s words.

”Ha-ha, what a cute little thing!” Elena suddenly emerged from the side. One hand was still holding her tarot cards, and with the other hand, she unreservedly pulled the teddy bear into her arms, looking at the bartender, she smiled politely, ”A Green Bee, please.”

”What’s your name?” she asked, pinching Mr. Li Neng’s ear and poking at his head with a smile.

”Um, um,” The teddy bear, quite content, wriggled its body, found the most comfortable position in Elena’s bosom, one claw unreservedly stroked the smooth skin and slipped into a deep crevice, its sharp voice turned to a baby-like tone, ”My name is Li Neng, I’m Li Meng’s partner!”

”Aren’t constructed creatures like them not allowed to come into school?” Zheng Qing stared at the unscrupulous plush bear and watching its satisfied expression, she was suddenly confused, ”And aren’t you Jiang Yu’s pet?”

”Humph.” The bear’s glass eyes spun around, threatening Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing cracked her knuckles, considering whether to hang this punchable plush toy up and give it a good beating.

”It passed the school’s security check, it’s safe!” Li Meng, sitting next to her, told Zheng Qing earnestly. Perhaps due to the alcohol, her face turned red and her eyes a bit unfocused.

”Besides, how could something all furry be dangerous.” Elena rubbed Mr. Li Neng in her hand and moved closer with a smile, ”The notice only prohibits dangerous black magic items.”

The bartender behind the bar served a glass of Green Bee to the newly arrived witch.

Elena took out a small can of green powder from her purse and sprinkled some into the glass.

The bartender widened his eyes in surprise.

”What did you add?” Zheng Qing was also very curious.

”A mix of mint, pseudoginseng, and mustard.” Elena took a straw, stirred her drink, gulped it all down, and stuck her tongue out, ”I’ve always found the drinks in bars a bit too light.”

Zheng Qing silently watched the red-eyed, tongue-sticking beauty in front of her. Her mind was racing.

”Your face is more twisted than mine! Hahaha.” Elena, as if she had discovered something interesting, pointed at Zheng Qing and burst into laughter.

”Is there any difference between an exchange student and a transfer student?” Zheng Qing gave a wry smile, forcing herself to change the subject, ”I remembered Xiao Xiao once told me you’re an exchange student.”

”There’s no difference!” Perhaps the drink was too spicy, Elena blinked hard, shedding a few tears, ”The elders of the witch coven have too many rules. They think the term ’transfer student’ sounds bad, damages the image of the witch coven. So, they specially applied for the status of exchange students. Well, the full name is ’Gypsy Witch Coven’s Visiting Exchange Student to the First University’, it’s a mouthful, hahaha.”

”How long are you going to stay?”

”It’s set for a year for now. But it can be extended.” Elena wiped the tear marks from her cheek and suddenly showed a teasing smile, ”Don’t you want me to stay, hmm?”

Zheng Qing waved her hands in panic, but it didn’t feel right, so she couldn’t help but nod.

”You’re too cute!” The witch burst out laughing.

Zheng Qing blushed and took a big gulp of her drink.
