High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 125: Chapter 49 Discount Price for Gold Card Customers_1

Unbeknownst to them, Zheng Qing and his friends had been upstairs for quite a long time.

Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin had been at it at the wine table for over ten rounds, and it was still anyone’s game.

Through the tiny skylight slanting above, they could see the stars in the sky winking dimly.

The fireflies had slowly adjusted to the young wizards’ antics, and the light falling from the Dragonblood Vine had returned to its original stability and brightness.

The Wandering Wizard leaned against the small bar, leisurely sipping ’Time of Flowing Gold.’ He watched as the young men debated over what amulets to choose, laughing at their heated discussions.

However, after Zhang Ji Xin had taken the Flying Centipede, they hadn’t chosen a new amulet.

Everyone already had an amulet, and they had a thorough discussion with the shop owner.

It was time to leave.

Zheng Qing stood up, hesitated, and looked at his companions.

Perhaps it would be more tactful for them to suggest leaving.

He thought about it and gave a covert signal.

Maybe due to the effects of alcohol, Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, who had a bit of a tiff earlier, were now enthusiastically flexing their muscles and boasting about their achievements.

These two idiots were dismissible.

Zheng Qing sighed, turned his head, and looked at Xiao Xiao.

Watermelon Head, however, misunderstood his purpose.

”That ’Mount Tai Shi Gan Dang’ is not bad either.” Xiao Xiao pointed to a slightly larger red lacquer box at the corner of the coffee table and said to Zheng Qing, ”Maybe Dylan would like to put it in front of his coffin.”

It was a gray urn-shaped stone carving.

The top of the carving hosted a dozing tortoise, and the bottom had a turtle with its head tucked in. In the center of the urn body, the word ”Shi Gan Dang” was carved in tadpole text, and the words ”Mount Tai” were carved on either side.

Zheng Qing thought of his werewolf roommate who gave him the Eight Diagrams cuff-links, nodded in approval, and decided not to leave immediately.

”This ’Mount Tai Shi Gan Dang’ is carved out of a spiritual stone from the peak of Mount Tai. It is three inches and three centimeters tall and weighs three taels and three qian. It has smooth runic engravings and exquisite knife work, making it a rare quality piece. Place it in the dormitory or on the desk to suppress all bad luck, ward off all kinds of monsters, and countless evil spirits.”

The Wandering Wizard handed the box to Zheng Qing, a reluctant expression on his face, ”Your taste is indeed impeccable. If it wasn’t so small and useless to me, I would rather place this little item on my own desk.”

Zheng Qing ignored these words from the owner.

In his eyes, no matter how fabulous and reluctant the Wandering Wizard’s description was, it could not conceal the fact that he was selling the amulet.

”If you don’t want to part with it, you don’t have to bring it out.” Xiao Xiao pointed out sharply.

The Wandering Wizard seemed not to hear this, lowering his head and intently pouring himself a drink.

”Should we get some more gifts for others?” After putting the evil-warding stone into the grey cloth bag, Zheng Qing hesitated and looked at Xiao Xiao.

”Who do you want to give it to?” Xiao Xiao’s response was always to the point.

The image of a red-haired, tall figure immediately popped into Zheng Qing’s mind.

He quickly shook his head, wanting the unreliable idea to disappear as fast as it came. Clearing his throat, he asked the others, ”Is there anything else you want?”

Xiao Xiao shook his head, indicating that he didn’t need anything else.

Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, on the other hand, were racking their brains over the meaning of Zheng Qing’s words.

”If you need anything, you can continue to visit this little shop in the future. The door of the Wandering Bar is always open to you.” The Wandering Wizard suddenly looked up, smiling cheerfully, ”I believe these five items should be enough for you to handle the risks on campus.”

”Thank you for your generous gift!” Zheng Qing promptly feigned gratefulness.

”Exactly, exactly. These things would cost quite a bit in the market!” Xiao Xiao echoed.

”Gift?” The shop owner sounded surprised: ”No! You are a gold card customer, so you’ll receive discounts or resource benefits... The Wizarding World advocates equivalent exchange... If I were to give these items to you, would you accept them with peace of mind?”

To be sure, carrying an inexplicable gift from the Wandering Wizard would not be a pleasant experience.

”So how do I pay for the goods?” Zheng Qing sighed heavily.

He was just testing the waters earlier, to see if he could get away with taking these amulets for free.

”Gold Card customers can buy now and pay later with no interest. Also, our shop supports trade-in transactions.” The Wandering Wizard seemed to pull out a black abacus from nowhere and start clicking away enthusiastically:

”Black donkey hoof that died peacefully after 80 years, one hoof. Gold card customer discounted price: Twenty Jade coins;”

”Green Bitter Cross, one piece. Gold card customer discounted price: Five Jade coins;”

”Hundred Year Lightning Wood Five-Color Peach Talisman, one piece. Gold card customer discounted price: Seven Jade Coins;”

”Flying Centipede, including Black Cave, a set. Gold Card customer discounted price: Thirteen Jade Coins;”

”Mount Tai Shi Gan Dang carving, one piece. Gold Card customer discounted price: Six Jade Coins.”

”Total: Fifty-one Jade coins. As a Gold Card customer, you get a bulk discount and we’ll waive the one extra jade coin, so the total comes to Fifty Jade coins. Please have a look!”

Zheng Qing nearly fell over when he heard this.

Leaning on Zhang Ji Xin’s arm for support, he exclaimed, ”It’s so expensive!”

No wonder he was startled.

A full government scholarship was worth only ten Jade coins.

And the withered donkey hoof in his arms cost thirteen Jade coins!

Even robbery wouldn’t be faster.

”Gold Card customers can buy now and pay later for one year, as long as you pay off the amount within a year.” The Wandering Wizard stressed, ”This is interest-free! If it were a normal customer, the maximum buy now and pay later period would be three months, and there would be a weekly interest rate of one gold bean.”

”You might as well be a loan shark.” Zheng Qing couldn’t help but complain.

”Our shop also deals in money lending. Please do come again if you need anything.” The Wandering Wizard nodded sweetly.

”I can’t afford it.” Zheng Qing sighed heavily, ”You mentioned trade-ins earlier?”

”Yes. Potions, spells, formations, ancient books, equipment, etc., anything can be used to offset the bill. If you have a magical object or antique you can’t identify, our shop offers affordable appraisal services. Of course, Gold Card customers are exempt from appraisal fees.” It was clear that the Wandering Wizard was very familiar with his business.

”How do you calculate talismans?” Zheng Qing decided to ask bluntly.

”According to the current market price, you just need to provide five hundred standard talismans to offset the bill. There is no requirement for the type of talisman or the way it is sealed, but these talismans must have a validity period of at least three months.” The Wandering Wizard seemed to have been looking forward to this answer. Just as Zheng Qing finished asking, he impatiently provided the corresponding answer.

He didn’t even move the small black abacus in front of him!

”Are you out of your mind!” Zheng Qing almost screamed. ”Five hundred! Standard talismans with over three months validity!!”

”Why don’t you rob someone!!”
