High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 119: Chapter 43 Amber Light_1

”Are you saying the bar owner invited me?” Zheng Qing pointed to his nose, looking at the multi-arm tribe servant in front of him, with a tone full of bewilderment.

The bar servant affirmed Zheng Qing’s thoughts with a nod and a smile.

If the invitation had come from the owner of Yota’s restaurant not far away, or the owner of the candy store at the end of the street, Zheng Qing would have accepted without any hesitation.

But this invitation came from the owner of the Wandering Bar.

That made him mull it over repeatedly.

Apart from the rumours circulating on campus, ”Entering First University” explicitly pointed out that the wandering wizard was a person from Palermo.

The status of Palermo in the wizarding world is similar to that in the ordinary world.

In the ordinary world, when Palermo is mentioned, people will associate it with history, football, and the Mafia.

But in the wizarding world, people will only think of black magic, black magic, and more black magic.

To Zheng Qing, a newcomer who has not been in the wizarding world for long, black magic is as terrifying as a ferocious beast in a flood.

”What should I do?” he looked at his companions for help.

”You can’t refuse an invitation like this,” Xiao Xiao took out his black notebook from his pocket and held it in his arms. ”But you can bring us along. I assume the bar owner won’t be stingy with a few drinks.”

Saying this, he turned his head to look at the bar servant.

”The master has ordered that if you don’t mind, you can invite your companions to accompany you,” the multi-arm tribesman’s voice is always magnetic, as if it has a built-in echo speaker.

”So,” Zheng Qing nervously looked around, ”what do you guys think?”

Contrary to his expectations.

Everyone showed an eager look.

”They say the private room offers Amber Light from ’69!” Xin Fat Man said with desire in his eyes.

”Amber Light?” Zheng Qing increasingly felt his lack of worldly wisdom.

”It’s a fine wine produced by Dunhuang, supposedly brewed with herbs, fresh milk, honey, and moonlight. Some recipes even have polygonum multiflorum and yam as accompaniments. Amber Light is lavish and full-bodied. The liquor looks like condensed milk with a brilliant golden colour,”

”Because of its long history, low production, and exquisite quality, this wine has always been a hit with wizard aristocrats. Most of it has been collected by them, serving as a fine treat for their guests.”

Xiao Xiao, clutching his notebook, dutifully imparted some trivia from the wizarding world to Zheng Qing:

”Due to the lunar pollution caused by the Muggles’ moon landing in ’69, most of the Amber Light produced that year was contaminated and of low quality. Thus, some well-established bars managed to get their hands on a few loose goods and offer them to ordinary customers.”

”Sounds very posh,” Zheng Qing murmured.

”Overhasty friendship always augurs ill,” Zhang Season Letter thoughtfully nodded. ”But no risk, no gain. I think we should go and take a look... He can’t pull any tricks near the university anyway.”

”If you wipe off your drool, maybe what you just said would be a bit more persuasive,” Xiao Xiao didn’t bother to hide his disdain for the red-faced man.

Yet, he also agreed to the invitation: ”There’s no harm in going, it may give us a broader outlook... He’s interested in you, but I’m also quite curious about this wandering wizard.”

Due to Tang Dun and others getting drunk, the boys decided after a discussion that Zhang Season Letter, Xin, and Xiao Xiao would accompany Zheng Qing to the appointment.

”Even though I am a bit nervous, I can’t help but feel you all are making a mountain out of a molehill,” Zheng Qing looked at everyone speechlessly, his expression somewhat resigned.

The multi-armed attendant looked at them all with a silent smile.

Soon, the young wizards made their way to the second floor of the Wandering Bar.

Compared to the main hall, the private room was much quieter.

There were no servants in sight within the room.

A handful of Dragon Blood Vines of irregular lengths hung upside down from the ceiling.

A few luminous beetles crawled around the vine leaves, leisurely suckling the sweet vine juice, wiggling their bottoms, and sprinkling a silvery glow.

These transparent little bugs are called fireflies.

The street lamps in the First University campus are lit by these little creatures.

Compared with the semi-wild fireflies in the school, the ones in the Wandering Bar appeared even more crystal clear and shed a brighter light.

There was a glass coffee table under the Dragonblood Vine, which had a seasonal fruit plate on it.

Behind the coffee table, against the wall, was a row of large, soft, leather sofas. Their black surfaces sparkled with a rich color under the silvery light, and they seemed very comfortable just by looking.

There was a mini bar at the corner of the room.

Behind the bar was a small, black, wooden wine cabinet.

At the moment, the Wandering Wizard was leaning on the bar, quietly observing this little wine cabinet.

Zheng Qing realized that even in this small room, the wizard didn’t take off his pointed soft hat.

His face was still hidden in the broad shadow of the hat brim.

Should she go forward and kiss his hand?

Or the fingertips?

Or the cheeks?

Zheng Qing nervously looked at his half-face full of wrinkles, trying to recall the plot of the movie ”The Godfather Part I” in her head.

It was in vain.

All she could remember was a husky voice, as if it contained a peach pit.

”What can I get for you?” The pointed soft hat nodded towards the customers, and the owner was very friendly.

”A Green Bee would be enough,” Zheng Qing opened her mouth cautiously.

But before her words faded away, two voices from beside her already burst out.

”Amber Light!” Zhang Ji Xin shouted out loud.

”Amber Light from ’69!” Xin Fat Man looked at Zhang Ji Xin triumphantly, as if he was mocking him for not being precise enough.

”Are there other years of Amber Light here?” The boy with a red face blushed and rebutted.

Zheng Qing covered her face, feeling shame being associated with the two.

”I’ll just have a Green Bee as well,” Xiao Xiao shook her head, pulled out her black notebook, and slumped onto the sofa.

”Everyone, make yourself comfortable,” the Wandering Wizard cheerfully greeted while patting his Law book.

Few bottles of alcohol started to float shakily in front of the guests.

The Green Bee was bottled in a common glass bottle, while Amber Light was in an opaque black ceramic pot.

”The color’s brownish-yellow, a bit murky, lack of an alcoholic aroma... it’s definitely not the same as the one at home!” Zhang Ji Xin shook his glass significantly and pointed at the residue on the inner wall of the glass, showing off in front of Xin Fat Man.

Xin Fat Man frowned a little and said nothing.

”The delicate Green Bee wine, the oscillating Amber Light.”

The Wandering Wizard recited a short verse that could be either a spell or a poem, then continued:

”Green Bee is light, perfect for those who can’t handle their liquor and delicate in mind. Amber Light is heavy, best for those with a lively personality and strong physical constitution.”

”You all made just the right choices.”

The Wandering Wizard stood behind the bar, and all Zheng Qing could see was the corner of his grinning mouth.

His mood seemed to be quite cheerful.

”Is that so?” Xin Fat Man looked at his companions confusedly.

Zhang Ji Xin shook his head.

Xiao Xiao also shook her head.

As for Zheng Qing, she had always had a puzzled look on her face from the beginning.
