High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 118: Chapter 42 Two Invitations_1

In front of his desk, Zheng Qing, who was working hard on drawing talisman, had no awareness of the malicious gazes starting to surface around him.

The bristles of the brush in the inkwell had once again filled with ink.

He lifted his pen again, thinking about designing the next talisman.

From the start until now, just fifteen minutes had passed and he had already finished five Calm Heart Talismans.

Every three to four minutes, a new talisman would be cast on Li Meng.

He hadn’t wasted a single talisman.

The spectators were amazed, words of praise flowing from their mouths.

Everyone marvelled at the extraordinary talent and well-deserved reputation of Zheng Qing, a Kunlun Descendant.

These praises only increased Arthur Ness’s disdain for the figure in front of the desk.

What irritated him even more was the admiration his companions showed for this situation.

”We should be grateful for Zheng Qing’s excellent performance here.” Sima Yi seemed oblivious to Mr.Ness’s rage. He nodded satisfactorily and pushed his two companions towards the bar’s exit, ”I originally planned to let you guys have a friendly exchange with these outstanding freshmen to develop some friendships.”

Arthur Ness was stunned, his face full of shock.

Sima Yi stopped his impulse and explained, ”Humility and reconciliation with them will show your grace, which will be helpful in changing public opinion... but plans can’t keep up with changes. The performances of these newcomers in the bar will inoculate people against your failure, so I don’t think there’s any need to gild the lily.”

”Very wise.” Arthur Ness finally spoke up. His response was cold as he strode past Sima Yi and into the bar.

Kitano Gen gave Sima Yi a worried glance, then jogged to catch up.

Sima Yi raised his eyebrows, and leisurely followed the two men.

Zheng Qing didn’t notice these little dramas in the crowd.

As time passed, he gradually felt uneasy.

Although the Blood Seal technique was quick and effective, it also had many restrictions.

Only a single drop of fresh hot blood from the wizard’s fingertip could be used to cast this spell.

Since the blood from the fingertips was minute and delicate, only a few drops could be consumed within a day.

If taken indiscriminately, it would harm the vital energy and put some burden on the wizard’s body, which would not be beneficial for future cultivation.

Zheng Qing moved his left hand that was leaning on the desk slightly.

The thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, and pinky finger.

Fresh hot blood from all five fingertips of his left hand had been shed to seal the Spiritual Machine on the talisman papers.

As for his right hand, he needed it to be stable, so he couldn’t cut his right fingertips.

The new talisman under his brush would be finished with just a few more strokes.

Should he consume some vital energy and continue using the Blood Seal?

Or should he consume some spirit to add secret script to the talisman?

He was hesitant.

Using the secret script was certainly more prudent, but he didn’t have much confidence that he could complete a complete codex within five minutes.

When the last stroke of the talisman was completed on the yellow paper, Zheng Qing finally made up his mind.

He’d just have to drink the herbal soup for a month!

He took a deep breath and brought his left thumb to his mouth once again.

But then, a cold hand grabbed his hand.

Zheng Qing opened his eyes in surprise and looked back.

It was Jiang Yu.

She grabbed Zheng Qing’s hand, a weary smile on her face:

”That’s enough... it’s enough. Thank you!”

Zheng Qing was stunned, then he let out a sigh of relief. However, his vision became dizzy and he staggered unconsciously.

Gasp of surprise echoed throughout the crowd.

A pair of hands caught him on time.

Those who intended to rush up stopped in their tracks.

Xin Fat Man and Duan Xiao Jian shared a knowing look and chuckled.

Zheng Qing had no energy to pay them any attention. Although only twenty minutes had passed, the full concentration from before was a significant strain on his mental energy.

He blinked hard, seeing a string of golden spots flashing in his field of vision.

”So this is what seeing stars feel like.” He laughed foolishly at the person helping him.

It was Jiang Yu again.

Feeling embarrassed, he stopped laughing, struggled to stand up, his face flushing red.

”Sorry, just now...”

”It’s okay.”

Jiang Yu, seeing him steady on his feet, let go of his hand, gave a stunning smile, and walked off.

A faint, enticing scent lingered at Zheng Qing’s nose.

Not far away, Li Meng was still deep in sleep within a complicated array.

The complex lines and patterns of the array made Zheng Qing’s eyelids twitch.

”Did you draw this?” He praised, carefully examining the diagram.

”Yes.” Jiang Yu gently lifted her head, revealing a section of her beautiful and delicate neck.

Zheng Qing swallowed, shifting his gaze back to the magnificent array.

In the dim light of the bar, she shone with a charming radiance.

...

...

With the help of Liu Fei Fei and Nicolas, Jiang Yu escorted Li Meng out of the bar.

Tang Dun initially wanted to join the escort team, but was softly rejected by the female monitor.

As such, the monitor of the Astronomy Class 08-1 was rather sullen.

After they left, he sat in front of the bar and started drinking alone.

”It’s not over yet!” Duan Xiao Jian patted the solitary figure, encouraging him.

”It’s already over.” Xin Fat Man shook his head and agreed, ”So let’s drink while we can, don’t concern ourselves with future criticisms. Come on, everyone, bottoms up!”

Zheng Qing didn’t join the conversation between the two schemers.

Leaning on the bar, he was pondering about what Jiang Yu had just said.

”I heard from Xiao Meng that you’re trying to save a group of elves who lost their host?” Before leaving, Jiang Yu suddenly asked.

”Do you have a solution?!” Zheng Qing asked excitedly. His spirit considerably revived.

”No.” The class monitor quickly denied, ”To my knowledge, no wizard has ever broken through the boundaries of this alchemy.”

”I see.” Zheng Qing nodded disappointedly.

He had heard many similar sayings recently.

”But I have a friend who likes some esoteric research. I can introduce him to you.” Jiang Yu added, ”Perhaps he has a solution.”

”Thank you very much.” Even though the odds were small, Zheng Qing still expressed his gratitude.

”Actually, I should be thanking you.” Jiang Yu shook her head and gave a faint smile, ”Let’s meet in front of the library at nine o’clock tomorrow morning?”

”Deal!” Zheng Qing nodded vigorously.

...

...

The night was getting late as the colored lights and booming music started again.

The chandeliers on the ceiling flamed up once again,

Above the liquor cabinets, the little elves started to carry wine bottles and fruit baskets, serving the guests once again.

The Wandering Bar was lively and bustling as always.

Because he had been drawing talismans and consuming much of his energy, Zheng Qing originally planned to return to school immediately.

But another invitation made him change his mind.

The owner of the Wandering Bar, the rumoured Wandering Wizard, invited him to have a chat in a private room on the second floor.
