The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Quick, Use the Maybach Lighter to Give Me a Light

Cheng Hongbing glanced at Huang Jianxiang and said modestly, ”It’s a Volkswagen.”

Even though Cheng Hongbing was already being very low-key and modest, he still managed to shock his old buddies!

”The cheapest Volkswagen starts at seventy thousand. Xiaoyuan’s doing great! Earning that much money so soon after getting out of prison! Chief, you’ve raised a good son!”

At that, several of the old buddies’ gazes toward their own children turned even more disapproving.

The younger men were like ostriches, wishing they could bury their heads under the table.

Cheng Yuan had been exceptional since childhood. They had all assumed that after serving time, he would sink to the very bottom of society, but reality had just dealt them a harsh slap in the face!

Unwilling to be outdone by Cheng Yuan, Huang Jianxiang asked defiantly, ”Uncle Cheng, the car Brother Yuan bought you must be second-hand, right? I checked the used car market a few days ago, and you can get the cheapest Santana for just a few thousand.”

Hearing this, several of the old buddies exchanged thoughtful glances. A second-hand Santana would make a lot more sense.

”Chief, is it a second-hand Santana?”

Cheng Hongbing shook his head slightly. ”It’s brand new, from the dealership.”

His old buddy’s face twisted into a mask of envy and jealousy.

”I always knew Xiaoyuan would amount to something. Looking at this group of kids now, besides Liming, he’s the most successful one!”

”Liming comes from a good family. If Xiaoyuan had Liming’s family connections, he’s be in an even better position than Liming by now!”

”That’s true. Xiaoyuan did this all by himself! You little rascals, when Xiaoyuan gets here, you’d better learn a thing or two from him about being an entrepreneur!”

Hearing their parents praise Cheng Yuan to the heavens, the other kids were about to explode with frustration!

They refused to believe it. How could Cheng Yuan really earn seventy thousand in such a short time?

’Uncle Cheng must be exaggerating, right?’

His buddy Liu Kun’s son, Liu Deshui, whispered in Huang Jianxiang’s ear, ”Jianxiang, it’s easy to tell if it’s a new car. Just see if the key is new!”

Huang Jianxiang looked at Cheng Hongbing inquisitively. ”Uncle Cheng, I’ve never driven before. Can I see the car key?”

”Well...”

Cheng Hongbing hesitated. ’This is a Maybach key. If I take it out, won’t it be too demoralizing for my old friends and their kids?’

Huang Jianxiang’s eyes lit up, thinking he had discovered the truth.

Huang Jianxiang said in a half-joking tone, ”Uncle Cheng, I just want to look at the key, I’m not asking to borrow the car. Do you have to make it so difficult? Or... is there some reason you can’t show me the key?”

Cheng Hongbing frowned. He truly didn’t want to crush his old friends and their children. ”It’s a bit inconvenient.”

The old buddies and their kids all started giving Cheng Hongbing strange looks.

’Is the Chief (Uncle Cheng) just putting on a front?’

’Is the car actually second-hand?’

’Why else would it be inconvenient to show them?’

Wu Xiuli couldn’t stand it anymore. She reached into Cheng Hongbing’s pocket, snatched the car key, and SLAMMED it onto the table!

”What’s so inconvenient? It’s just a car key! Look all you want!”

Everyone froze for a second. The key looked brand new; it didn’t seem like it belonged to a second-hand car at all.

Besides, judging by the key’s design, it didn’t look like it was for a cheap car.

Huang Qun asked instinctively, ”What brand is this logo? Any of you guys recognize it? Does Volkswagen make a model like this? I’ve never seen it before!”

Liu Kun, who knew a bit about cars, had a look of utter shock on his face. ”That’s a double M... it’s the Maybach logo!”

As he spoke, Liu Kun grabbed the key and flipped it over. Seeing the familiar Mercedes-Benz logo on the other side, he confirmed his suspicion.

”This is a Maybach key!”

Not everyone was familiar with Maybach, but they all recognized the Mercedes-Benz logo in an instant!

They passed the key around, everyone unable to accept the reality of the situation.

’Has the world gone mad?’

’Cheng Yuan bought the Chief (Uncle Cheng) a high-end Mercedes?’

Huang Qun said admiringly, ”The cheapest Mercedes costs three or four hundred thousand. This ’bach’ thing is a high-end Mercedes, so doesn’t that mean it must be five or six hundred thousand?”

Liu Kun explained with a wry smile, ”The base model Maybach starts at over a million. A mid-to-high-end model is over two million!”

Silence.

Everyone at the table fell silent.

People get jealous when they’re on a similar level. But when someone is so far beyond you, jealousy gives way to awe and reverence.

”Chief, you’ve been holding out on us! Looks like you’re doing just as well as President Xiao and Yan Suo!”

”Of course he is! President Xiao’s A8 is at least two tiers below a Maybach.”

Suddenly, everyone started furiously sucking up to him.

Cheng Hongbing, feeling uncomfortable with the sudden shift, shot Wu Xiuli an irritated glare. His expression seemed to say, ’See? Why did you have to take out the key? Now things are all awkward with my old friends.’

Huang Qun smacked his son, Huang Jianxiang, on the back of the head. ”Jianxiang, look at Xiaoyuan!” he said, exasperated. ”I’m not asking you to buy me a Maybach. I’d be happy if you could just get me a used Mercedes 3-Series!”

Huang Jianxiang felt so depressed he wanted to die. He was drowning in online debt; he couldn’t even afford a single wheel from a used Mercedes!

Huang Jianxiang scoffed. ”A luxury car key? Is that a big deal? I have one too! Dad, here, have a Porsche!”

With that, Huang Jianxiang pulled out a Porsche key and tossed it to Huang Qun.

Huang Qun was dumbfounded. Everyone was dumbfounded. They all stared at Huang Jianxiang in utter shock.

Huang Qun asked in a trembling voice, ”Jianxiang! Did you win the lottery? Where did you get the money?”

Grinning, Huang Jianxiang pulled out another key. This one was even more impressive: a Ferrari.

Under everyone’s stunned gazes, Huang Jianxiang flicked it open with a CLICK, and lit a cigarette.

Huh?

’It’s a lighter?’

Everyone collectively rolled their eyes.

For a second there, he’d really had them going.

Huang Qun copied his son, flicking the key open with a CLICK. His own face instantly turned black as thunder.

The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.

He’d actually thought for a moment that his son had finally made something of himself. But no, he was still the same old slacker.

THWACK! Huang Qun rapped him hard on the head with his knuckles.

”Huang Jianxiang! You little punk! What’s the big idea, fooling us with a lighter? Are you asking for a beating?!”

Huang Jianxiang grimaced in pain but didn’t seem fazed. ”Dad, if I can buy a luxury car lighter on Taobao, why can’t Uncle Cheng? Or maybe,” he added, ”Brother Yuan is the one who bought Uncle Cheng the lighter!”

Everyone’s eyes lit up. What Jianxiang said made sense!

’Cheng Yuan just got out of prison. How could he possibly afford a Maybach?’

’But if it’s just a lighter, that makes perfect sense!’

Everyone turned to stare strangely at one of their buddies, Yu Zhanyan, because the ”lighter” was currently in his hands.

Huang Qun pulled out a cigarette and looked at Yu Zhanyan with a grin. ”Old Yu, hurry up and use that Maybach lighter to give me a light!”
