The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 336: Chapter 336: Withdrawing Seems to Be the Only Choice

Lin Ruoxi’s heart skipped a beat. ’Is Cheng Yuan about to lay his cards on the table?’

Lin Ruoxi couldn’t bear the thought of losing Cheng Yuan just yet. She quickly shut her eyes, pretending to be asleep, and even let out a faint snore.

Cheng Yuan was incredibly frustrated. He had wanted to talk to Ruoxi about Hu Shishi, but with her acting like this, how could he possibly bring it up?

”Ruoxi, are you asleep?”

Lin Ruoxi didn’t respond, her breathing merely growing steadier.

Cheng Yuan was an excellent doctor and could tell that Lin Ruoxi’s heart was beating a bit too fast. ’But that’s probably just from the alcohol, right?’

Cheng Yuan didn’t suspect Lin Ruoxi was feigning sleep. He carried her to the Yuanxi Pharmaceutical company car, where the driver attentively pulled open the door.

Cheng Yuan gently laid Lin Ruoxi down on the back seat and instructed coolly, ”Back to the Yuanxi Pharmaceutical executive apartments.”

”Yes, sir!”

After returning to the executive apartment, Cheng Yuan gently placed Lin Ruoxi on the bed. He sat down beside her, quietly gazing at her exquisite face.

He and Lin Ruoxi had already agreed to become a true married couple tonight.

If it hadn’t been for Hu Minjiang’s revelation, even with Lin Ruoxi drunk, Cheng Yuan would not have let this chance slip by. After all, he had been longing for his wife for a very long time.

But now, Cheng Yuan wasn’t in the mood at all. His mind was completely filled with the pain Hu Shishi had endured to save him.

’That was a pain many times more intense than childbirth!’

’I really don’t know how Sister Shishi managed to bear it!’

DING.

Cheng Yuan’s phone chimed. He grabbed it and saw it was a message from Duan Yanming.

”Medicine Valley is hidden within the primeval forests of Changbai Mountain. Its entrance only appears on the night of a full moon. Therefore, you must wait for a full moon to arrive in the heart of Changbai Mountain.”

Cheng Yuan calculated the date. It was the beginning of the month, so there were still about ten days until the full moon.

’I’ll use these next few days to gather more Divine Medicine and refine a few more Divine Pills. That way, I’ll have a better chance of success when it’s time to treat Sister Shishi.’

Lin Ruoxi had been mixing liquor and red wine. At first, she hadn’t felt much, but now the alcohol had fully kicked in. Her consciousness was hazy, she was starting to black out, and she had temporarily lost some of her memories.

Lin Ruoxi had a nagging feeling that something important had just happened, but she couldn’t for the life of her remember what it was.

’This is a terrible feeling!’

Lin Ruoxi vigorously rubbed her throbbing temples. She struggled to open her eyes and saw Cheng Yuan sitting beside her.

WHOOSH!

A flash of insight struck Lin Ruoxi, and she remembered the promise she’d made to Cheng Yuan that morning.

Lin Ruoxi instantly broke into a smile. ”Hubby,” she slurred, ”when did you get back? Come here, let this queen give you a kiss.”

Cheng Yuan rolled his eyes, speechless. ’I have to keep an eye on Ruoxi from now on. Her drunken behavior is terrible. I can’t ever let her get this drunk again.’

”Ruoxi, you’re drunk. You should get some rest.”

”No! I’m not drunk! We agreed this morning, this queen wants to inspect the goods! This is about this queen’s future marital bliss!”

The corner of Cheng Yuan’s mouth twitched. ’Is Ruoxi always this wild when she’s drunk?’

’Things are moving a little too fast here!’

Lin Ruoxi pushed herself up from the large bed with both hands, swaying as she sat up. She brought her gorgeous face close to Cheng Yuan’s, studying him intently.

”So this is the man this queen is to bestow her favor upon? You’re so handsome. I could look at you forever!”

”Er...” Cheng Yuan was a little embarrassed by the compliment.

Lin Ruoxi hooked a delicate finger under Cheng Yuan’s chin, her drunken eyes hazy as she gazed at him. ”Hubby, I’ll tell you a secret! I actually kind of liked you the very first time I saw you, on the subway. It was love at first sight! But don’t you get a big head about it!”

Lin Ruoxi’s sudden confession ignited a raging fire within Cheng Yuan!

This unexpected, pleasant surprise made Cheng Yuan temporarily forget all his worries. At this moment, there was only one person on his mind: the Lin Ruoxi right in front of him.

”Ruoxi, I might have been a little slower than you. The moment you stood up for me, defending me in front of Wang Shanshan, I swore an oath. I swore I would make you my wife!”

Lin Ruoxi’s eyes filled with pure happiness.

In modern society, where materialism runs rampant, many marriages are just negotiations, more like business deals where gains and losses must be weighed.

’A couple like her and Cheng Yuan, brought together by mutual love, is a truly precious thing!’

Lin Ruoxi gazed at Cheng Yuan, her eyes full of devotion and resolve. ”Hubby, make me yours.”

Faced with such a request, no normal man could refuse.

Cheng Yuan was a normal man, so naturally, he did not refuse. He pulled Lin Ruoxi into a fierce embrace and kissed her deeply.

To Cheng Yuan’s pleasant surprise, despite how much she had drunk, her breath wasn’t the least bit unpleasant. Instead, it carried the light, intoxicating fragrance of wine.

Cheng Yuan was about to devour his wife when he suddenly remembered Hu Minjiang’s words.

Cheng Yuan didn’t want Lin Ruoxi to have any regrets. Bracing himself over her with his hands on the bed, he looked at her intently, deciding he had to tell her everything.

”Ruoxi, I have something very important to tell you—”

”Why are you talking so much nonsense?”

With that, Lin Ruoxi hooked her arms around Cheng Yuan’s neck and silenced him with her own mouth.

’How could he possibly say what he needed to say now?’

It was like a lit match.

And like a volcanic eruption.

When the midnight bells chimed, all fell quiet once more.

The next day, Cheng Yuan and Lin Ruoxi both woke up late. Fortunately, with Lin Xinghe and Hua Yao holding down the fort, work at Yuanxi Pharmaceutical carried on as usual.

It was nearly ten o’clock when Lin Ruoxi finally, slowly opened her eyes.

Her whole body ached as if it had been taken apart and put back together wrong.

’What happened?’

Lin Ruoxi rubbed her aching head as her memories slowly trickled back, recalling everything that had happened the night before.

Lin Ruoxi’s face instantly flushed crimson.

’Oh my God, was that woman who demanded to ”inspect the goods” last night really me?’

’How could I be so shameless?’

’Cheng Yuan must think I’m some kind of wanton woman, doesn’t he?’

The next second, Lin Ruoxi’s expression instantly went from bashful to ice-cold.

She remembered the conversation between Hu Minjiang and Cheng Yuan!

Lin Ruoxi could have cried at her own stupidity.

’What on earth did I do last night?!’

Lin Ruoxi was filled with immense regret.

’Why did I have to drink so much yesterday?’

’Otherwise, I wouldn’t have... with Cheng Yuan...’

’Hu Shishi made such a huge sacrifice to save him. How could Cheng Yuan possibly let her go? Knowing his personality, he definitely can’t!’

’And I could never accept sharing Cheng Yuan with another woman.’

’Leaving seems to be the only option.’

’As for my first time... I’ll just consider it payment for him acting as my shield.’
