Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 325: Chapter 179: Even a Mighty Dragon Cannot Suppress a Local Snake (First Update)

Joyce Shaw’s hometown is in a small city in the Southern Region.

A few hours later, several tourists from out of town arrived in the city by plane.

After nightfall, most people in the small city had already returned home to share family time.

Only the riverside night market was still operating as usual.

Men and women, busy for the whole day, ordered a bottle of beer, had several trays of bright red crayfish in front of them, wore disposable plastic gloves, peeled the shrimp, and gossip about things that happened during the day.

In a six-story residential building in the city center, a group of people climbed the stairs and quickly arrived at the door of the apartment on the third floor where Joyce Shaw and his grandmother lived.

The apartment here was not small, but not particularly large either.

There were four apartments on this floor, and the one diagonal to the staircase was the apartment left by Joyce Shaw’s parents.

This group was clearly very experienced, and they quickly divided the tasks, with someone keeping watch at the staircase on the first floor, someone smoking at the corner on the third floor.

Someone else searched for surveillance equipment.

Soon they signaled, ”...There’s no surveillance here.”

”Alright, let’s do it.” The leader used a hood to cover his head and face, held a piece of wire, and inserted it into the old-style lock.

Three minutes later, the lock clicked open.

The person waved his arm backward, the group immediately lined up behind him, watching as he gently pushed the door open.

Inside the door was pitch black, and nothing could be seen.

Could they have gone to sleep so early?

Everyone wondered in their minds.

However, at this moment, they weren’t too concerned.

Their intel showed that it was just a seventy-plus-year-old woman living alone here, there were four or five burly men in their group, were they afraid of an old woman?

But they still maintained necessary vigilance, each looking forward and backward, and filed in orderly.

Once inside the house, their eyes gradually adjusted to the lighting, they started seeing the furnishings in the room.

This was a well-decorated apartment, but it was evident that the decor was years old, a design popular many years ago, not worn but very outdated.

Someone snorted, donned gloves, drew a gleaming dagger, and stealthily moved toward the bedroom.

This apartment had three bedrooms, and to avoid alerting anyone, they simply had three people each carrying a dagger advancing toward those three bedrooms simultaneously.

No matter which room the old lady was in, they could strike a fatal blow.

Bam!

The doors of the three bedrooms were almost simultaneously kicked open, three people lunged towards the bed inside with the same trained motions.

Three arms simultaneously raised, the silver gleam of blades traced three shining arcs in the dark bedrooms, fiercely stabbing toward the headboard!

Once the blades plunged down, they felt something was wrong.

The feeling beneath the blades wasn’t like a person.

They flipped the blanket open, only to see a pillow stabbed through.

Where’s the person?

One person whistled, and simultaneously two whistles echoed from the other two rooms.

This was their signal to each other.

”Damn! None of them are here! That old lady knows how to hide!” One person cursed as they came out from inside.

The group gathered in the living room, starting to discuss the next move.

”...What to do? Is the old lady not home? Or hiding?”

”Search first. If we can’t find her, send a message back, their intel is inaccurate.”

While they were searching through all the rooms here, the person keeping watch at the first floor suddenly went limp, collapsing on the ground in the doorway.

A few men with unremarkable appearances showed up.

They were all dressed like locals, speaking in the local dialect.

”Damn, they really dared to come here to Quill to kill... Aren’t they looking down on us?”

”A powerful dragon won’t suppress a local serpent, since they want to be river dragons here, let them stay in Quill forever.” The shortest yet fiercest-looking man kicked the unconscious man on the ground, ”Go upstairs and check it out.”

The group quickly made their way to the third floor, just in time to block the men trying to exit the door.

These people didn’t say a word and started fighting.

The local gangsters had impressive skills, almost immediately knocking the previous individuals to the ground.

”Break their arms, cut their tendons. If you dare to cause trouble here again, ask me, Zhao Lao Wu, if I agree or not!” The shortest man said fiercely, kicking those men out of the house.

Then they searched around the house, but didn’t see any sign of anyone.

Not to mention the elderly, not even a cat was seen.
