Chapter 1246: Chapter 536: Carlos, the Fate Weaver (2)

”Increase vigilance! Call Sir Bertrand and the Wood Elf Rangers to see me!” Laine immediately ordered the three Free People corpses to be burned with flames. After careful inspection, a hundred muskets showed no signs of corruption, and Laine, after purifying them with spiritual energy, temporarily stored them in the warehouse, awaiting the Dwarf Engineer’s inspection.

Meanwhile, just two kilometers away from where Laine was, in a small grove within a swamp, a Chaos Great Demon, hunched, unusually old, bent, and shriveled, transformed into a black two-headed crow, was watching all of this. It witnessed firsthand its meticulously designed assassination plan being cracked by Laine. This human hero, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy, actually relied on the energy of subspace to directly intercept a hundred musket bullets!

Interesting, truly interesting, praise Saint Tzeentch! The two-headed crow spread its wings, and the sound of cawing was a hymn of praise to the Chaos Evil God.

As the first Great Demon under Tzeentch, Carlos, the Fate Weaver, holds several titles, including ”Oracle of Tzeentch”, ”Guardian of Fate”, and ”Mocker of Fate”. But its most glorious title remains ”Fate Weaver”.

Among the countless Great Demons under the Chaos Evil God, Tzeentch holds many who possess great power, so why does Carlos sit unwaveringly in the position of the first Great Demon?

This has to do with Carlos’s current form.

In the Castle of Despair at the center of Tzeentch’s crystal labyrinth, there is a place containing all the knowledge and mysteries of the universe, known as the Eternal Well. Below the well lies a profoundly deep black water foaming with bubbles, containing endless knowledge but also hiding infinite danger. Even Tzeentch, the Chaos Evil God itself, dares not touch this black water.

Chance and danger in the challenge are the only things Tzeentch fears. The cunning Master of Destiny is unwilling to personally take risks, so it decided to use its subordinates as stepping stones. At an opportune moment, Carlos was pushed by Tzeentch into the Eternal Well.

Since Carlos arduously climbed out of the deep well, it has become like this, exceptionally old, hunched and shriveled, with wings that originally were huge now shriveled into short stubs, and transformed into two heads. Yet it can see secrets that even Tzeentch cannot discover.

Its left head can clearly foresee the future, no conspiracy can escape its keen sight. With such unlimited ability, it has the future within its grasp. Its right head can objectively look back at the past; the power of past and future surged into its shriveled and twisted body when it crossed the well, but possessing this foresight requires a heavy price. As a consequence, in reality, both heads are blind, unable to sense the passage of time, only able to perceive events about to happen or that have already ended at some point.

In the Eternal Well, Carlos perceived what true eternity is, and how the world is destined to be destroyed under the hands of the Chaos Evil God. Since then, this Chaos Great Demon became Tzeentch’s favored minister. It often sits on Tzeentch’s right hand, stirring the pitch-black well water while whispering secrets only it can see to Tzeentch. These secrets deepen Tzeentch’s understanding of eternity and control over its own plans.

Carlos also gained infinite knowledge within the Eternal Well, knowing all existing spells, and various mysterious energy runes, marks, and secret words. This ability made it the most esteemed Divine Envoy of the Evil God and the top Great Demon under Tzeentch. As a result, Tzeentch entrusted its mightiest demon army, the Eternal Legion, to Carlos for command—only the most crucial plans and the most terrifying tasks call for Carlos and its Eternal Legion to be dispatched.

Carlos originally thought its meticulously planned assassination would at least injure Laine, but the present situation is not unacceptable. Transformed into a crow, the Great Demon of Tzeentch stands on a tree branch, contemplating its plans.

This is the great and all-powerful agreement between Saint Tzeentch and Mathew Bade; Tzeentch’s Demon Army will defeat Laine.

And now, this plan is about to begin!

Carlos emitted a silent scream, and under its command, the rift between subspace and the present world began to be torn open.

War is about to begin!

Meanwhile, Laine and others were still outside the city pondering the events. Instinctively, Laine thought that Chaos’s appearance here must have a reason, but the few clues available were insufficient to deduce the sequence of events. He could only temporarily infer that Chaos had already participated in his campaign to reclaim Musillon.

When he lowered his head to continue thinking, a violent feeling of unease prompted Laine to instinctively look up at the sky.

The sky near the Sharp-Top Palace was undergoing terrible changes.

First to catch the eye of the garrison was dozens and hundreds of Pink Fear Demons, the lowest-tier existence among Tzeentch’s Demons, displaying mottled and chaotic colors on their bodies.

Most humans had no idea what these were, but that did not stop them from issuing warnings.

”Enemy attack! Enemy attack!!!”

The entire garrison of Sharp-Top Palace immediately started mobilizing, with soldiers on the walls preparing for battle. Peasant Archers, Peasant Crossbowmen, and Musketeers immediately raised their ranged weapons and opened fire on these strange entities.

These Tzeentch Demons seemed fragile, quickly being fragmented with screams by the assault of arrows and musket bullets. Even the few Pink Fear Demons that reached the city walls were swiftly slain by the soldiers.
