Chapter 1216: Chapter 526: Sharp-Top Palace Defense Battle (Part 2)

Laine Macado, this person is as cunning as they come.

”Har, why didn’t you warn Belites?” Mathew Bade knew that there was no use being angry at this point, so he directly confronted his deputy general, Har Harris.

The von Castain Clan’s Vampire Baron, with snow-white skin and not a single hair on his head, laughed: ”Would my words have mattered? He is your lapdog, and I am your subordinate. You prefer obedient dogs and ignore capable subordinates?”

That’s because the bloodline of the von Castain Clan is filled with traitors by nature! Mathew Bade thought so. However, the Duke of Musillon knew that this was not the time to fall out. On the contrary, Mathew Bade uncharacteristically apologized solemnly to Har Harris: ”It was my oversight, Mr. Harris, I offer you my apologies.”

”...” The bloodline of the von Castain Clan seemed incredulous at Mathew Bade’s apology. He hesitated for a few seconds before snorting to indicate his acceptance.

”The current situation is dire! Everyone, I hope that for now, we set aside past grievances. We must defend Musillon! Defend this land that belongs to the undead!” Mathew Bade signaled the undead army to gather: ”Immediately instruct Merovin to lead the army to join us! We must march at once!”

”By the third day, we must reclaim the Sharp-Top Palace!”

At dawn on this day, after marching continuously for two nights, the Musillon army finally arrived beneath the walls of the Sharp-Top Palace.

Mathew Bade immediately led the undead army in a fierce assault on the city’s defenses. The undead army surged like a tide from all directions toward the Sharp-Top Palace, with thousands of zombies and skeletons launching the initial attacks.

However, taking advantage of the night, the cannons on the walls had been replaced with genuine artillery.

On Laine’s command, the Dwarf Engineers immediately launched an artillery barrage against the undead army.

Right from the start of Mathew Bade’s attack, the artillery bombarded them fiercely. Dozens of cannons fired simultaneously, and in the blink of an eye, hundreds of zombies and skeleton warriors were blasted into smithereens by the explosions. Whenever the undead army approached the walls, the Dwarf Musketeers, Human Musketeers, and Peasant Archers on the walls would begin their attack.

The roar of the artillery, the volleys of the musketeers, and the twang of the archers’ bowstrings resounded throughout the Sharp-Top Palace and its surrounding areas. The undead army relentlessly attacked the Sharp-Top Palace, led by corpse transport vehicles, continuously assaulting the castle’s defenses.

From dawn until noon, the high walls of the Sharp-Top Palace were shrouded in thick smoke, caught in a brutal tug of war between the undead army and the humans.

The battle continued until noon, when the blazing sun weakened the undead, forcing them to regroup.

Mathew Bade realized he was in a predicament. If he were to continue, he would have to commit elite forces to the walls, a massive loss he couldn’t accept. However, if he continued using zombies and skeleton warriors to assault the walls, there was no telling how long the war would drag on.

Meanwhile, Laine and his army also showed their weaknesses. First, due to their premature attack, their forces were relatively small and didn’t dare leave the castle. Secondly, due to a series of surprise attacks and efforts to get the artillery onto the walls as quickly as possible, the entire army lacked time for rest, exhausted. After half a day of Mathew Bade’s assault, the Sharp-Top Palace’s defenders were extremely weary. The undead had breached the walls several times but were quickly annihilated by the defenders.

Laine, leading the Holy Grail Guards, rushed to aid the battlefield wherever needed. Whenever the undead broke through the wall defenses, he and a dozen Holy Grail Knights would appear immediately. These tireless warriors swiftly slaughtered the Desolate Tomb Guards scaling the walls, sweeping away any hopes of victory for the undead like a deathly whirlwind.

”Hold the line!” Laine’s Mjolnir hammered down, crushing a Desolate Tomb Guard into a heap of scrap iron. He swept across with all his might, knocking a dozen Skeleton Warriors off the wall. The Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy crushed a Tomb Ghoul’s throat with his hand, hurling the entire giant beast off the wall: ”Stand your ground! Soldiers! For the Lady! For Brittania!”

”For the Lady!” Seeing Laine’s valor, the defenders’ morale soared. The knights, craving glory, fought bravely, knowing the Lake Fairy watched over this war. The peasants cursed the undead loudly, willing to give anything for advancement!

”Fire!” The Dwarf Musketeer Team, ”Dugen’s Black Powder Brotherhood,” opened fire on Dugen the Ironman’s command, clearing the current wave of undead.

”Blizzard!” The female sorcerer Teresa chanted a powerful magic spell, freezing the mass of zombies and skeleton warriors, significantly slowing the undead’s advance.

But more giant ladders had reached the walls. The walls of Sharp-Top Palace were not high, and the Desolate Tomb Guards, leading endless Skeleton Warriors, were tirelessly climbing while the Human Musketeers and Peasant Archers retaliated fiercely.

Seeing the grueling battle continue, Mathew Bade hesitated.

The swamp near the Sharp-Top Palace dampened the artillery’s power. The undead army had already reached the battlements, engaged in a bloody battle with the palace’s defenders. However, the undead army had suffered significant losses, and if it continued, even if they could drive the enemy out of the Sharp-Top Palace, Mathew Bade would have to accept losing more than half his forces.
