Chapter 1237: Chapter 533: Actually, I Am You...

Lorne instinctively felt that something was amiss with the two dukes after they left once, but he couldn’t ask too much. Lorne increased his vigilance and ordered his personal thousand knights, knight’s squires, and two thousand peasant infantry to remain in their armor even at night and be ready for battle at all times.

At that moment, Lorne heard a faint commotion outside the tent.

So late at night, what are the knights doing? Lorne found it strange. He casually threw on some clothes and then picked up his sword—the Kulona Sword, and shouted towards the outside: ”What’s going on? So late, what are you doing?”

”My Duke, there’s trouble.” A response came quickly from outside, as Lorne’s deputy general, De Liones, entered from outside, fully armed. His fiery red hair was rarely seen in Brittania, and many suspected this Holy Grail Knight hailed from the mysterious, perpetually shrouded Obion Island to the north. However, no one dared to question Liones, for he had already been recognized by the Lady.

”What’s going on?!” With this disruption, Lorne was no longer sleepy. He asked repeatedly, ”What happened?”

”It’s the refugees!” De Liones pointed in the direction outside the camp, cursing, ”Damn refugees! They’ve gathered and are causing trouble!”

”Gathered?” Lorne quickly looked into the distance.

Tens of thousands of refugees were pushing against the camp’s gate from outside, their bodies thin and malnourished, their ghastly eyes glowing eerily blue in the night. They held torches, long spears, wooden sticks, and hay forks, crowding the camp entrance, shouting, cursing, and howling.

The crowd continued to gather at the camp’s gates, demanding better food rations.

”Porridge! Porridge! A month of just porridge! We need more!”

”We want to go home! We want to go back to farm!”

”Old Bob starved to death! It’s all because of your porridge!”

”We are not your piglets!”

The refugees wildly attacked the wooden gate of the camp with their crude weapons, and the wooden walls and gate of the camp made dense sounds under the flurry, firelight scattering around.

”I’m telling you all! That’s impossible! The grace of providing you with food is already our greatest mercy!” A Kingdom Knight shouted loudly from the watchtower, filled with disdain as he yelled at the tidal wave of refugees, ”If you have any sense, leave immediately! I can forgive you, otherwise, I shall order to fire arrows!”

The refugees fell silent, as if they’d lost their last hope, sinking into a deathly stillness.

Lorne watched this scene from afar, shaking his head sadly, and said to Liones beside him, ”We’ve been dragging this out too long. We must quickly decide the battle with Mathew Bade here and settle...”

Before he could finish his sentence, a blue lightning bolt shot out from the refugee crowd, instantly striking the Kingdom Knight who had been cursing, transforming him into a twisted mess of flesh on the spot.

All the guards were stunned by this sudden change, standing there in shock.

Amidst the refugee tide that resembled ocean waves, several banners suddenly rose.

The banners were made of human skin, the designs on the banner depicted with arranged human bones.

Lorne was the first to recognize the pattern on the banner, and he immediately drew his sword.

”Octagonal Emblem! Chaos Banner!!!”

”Enemy attack! Enemy attack!!!”

After a two-second hesitation, the guards finally reacted. The refugees had been corrupted! They had become Chaos’s minions!

Too late, there was no time to close the gates, and tens of thousands of refugees rushed straight into the camp, faced with such a shocking scene, the peasant guards and knights in the darkness were caught completely off guard and were almost immediately attacked fiercely and nearly collapsed.

Lorne immediately called for his attendants to reorganize the army to prepare for a counterattack, but just as he was giving orders, the Death Wind arrived from the south.

The earth stretched toward the iron-gray horizon, the swamp’s waters pooling over the soft brown soil, with trees shattered in explosions rolling and curling up in every direction, and the deep sky highlighted by the darkness.

In the distance, the Undead army had appeared south of the camp, first there was the large pack of Terror Wolves, these drooling creatures couldn’t wait to indulge in a feast. Right after the pack of Terror Wolves was the Black Knight Legion, these Undead Knights intended to contest with the Brittania Knights once more.

The three-headed Bloodthirsty Bat Wolf easily smashed through the wooden walls of the camp, followed by the legion of Undead beasts, then three Skeleton Warrior Legions and two Desolate Grave Guard Legions joined the battlefield.

The Brittania people’s camp was instantly overwhelmed by the Undead’s assault, these undead crazily slaughtered mortals, and in the great chaos, the knights and peasants scattered in disarray, especially Lorne’s personal Peasant Infantry Corps. Unlike the infantry under Laine’s command, many of them had night blindness from hardly ever having meat!

Under the dual assault of the Undead and Chaos Cultists, Lorne’s forces collapsed at an unimaginable speed, the entire camp visibly falling into ruin, and the refugees already corrupted by Chaos and the Undead together besieged the unresponsive Brittania people. By the time Lorne finally gathered a small force, he found himself heavily surrounded!
