Chapter 1221: Chapter 528: Oath of Victory

Only the Holy Grail Knights do not feel fatigue. Fidmund, Armand, and others are hastily consuming their meals. Three of the dozen Holy Grail Guards brought by Mogiana have fallen forever in the Sharp-Top Palace, their stories to be woven into songs, passed down until the end of the world.

In fact, even before the battle began, Laine’s army was already weary, not without reason, which was precisely what Laine considered before mobilizing the army. Firstly, it was a winter campaign, making soldiers extremely prone to fatigue, compounded by insufficient troop numbers, resulting in virtually no rest after quickly seizing Sharp-Top Palace. The army was busy replenishing supplies, transporting goods, and mounting artillery on the walls, followed by Matthew Bade’s attack lasting a day and night.

These were situations Laine anticipated before the deployment, and he made strategic preparations accordingly.

Firstly, he created numerous artillery models to employ strategic deception, which successfully fulfilled their mission, earning a precious day for Laine.

Secondly, Laine made thorough preparations before this battle, transporting vast quantities of supplies to the frontline, with abundant gunpowder and arrow reserves ensuring no shortage of ammunition throughout the day of fighting. Moreover, Laine generously distributed a large amount of food in this war, with even the lowliest peasant soldiers receiving 200 grams of roast meat before the battle, along with plenty of salt-laden bread and various fresh vegetables, ensuring the peasant soldiers barely managed to persevere after a full day of grueling combat.

Lastly, Laine ordered his subordinates to release a piece of news.

”A piece of news?” Mogiana’s face was also grim, as her magic power was almost entirely exhausted.

”I had Oliver spread the news in all the taverns across Brittania before setting out,” Laine nodded, stuffing food into his mouth hurriedly, taking a large gulp of water: ”The news is that we’ve already seized Sharp-Top Palace.”

”I see!” Holy Grail Knight Fidmund suddenly realized something, immediately exclaiming: ”I understand now, just upon hearing the news of Sharp-Top Palace’s fall, Duke Lorne resting in Leonais surely...”

”Exactly!” Laine’s face was cold as ice, clasping his hands together. His subordinates brought his mount, Griffin Empress, to him.

The enormous Griffin snorted lightning, screeching incessantly, revealing its fierce nature. Empress knew she was going to battle, excitedly flapping her wings.

”She is eager for battle,” Mogiana extended a hand to stroke Empress’s face, the Lake God Witch closed her eyes, feeling the beast’s wrath: ”Empress is displeased that you didn’t bring her to fight.”

”Then she must be very pleased now!” Laine shouted: ”Armand, bring out that battle banner!”

”Yes!” Laine’s Standard Bearer, Holy Grail Knight Armand replied loudly, striding into the depths of the Inner Castle.

”All knights and soldiers still with the strength to mount and fight!” Laine drew his Goddess of Revenge, calling out to everyone: ”Follow me!”

”Our cavalry lances and blades will fight for you, Lady’s Champion!” All knights who could still stand rose swiftly, looking at Laine’s bright silhouette in the night, feeling a flame ignite within them.

When Armand emerged shouldering a massive banner, all knights fell silent, some unable to hold back tears.

They recognized this banner.

The banner depicted the Lake Fairy’s image. Blessed by the Lake Fairy’s Divine Power, this banner traversed a millennium of years. On it was illustrated the encounter by Fairy Lake between First Knight King Arthur, then Duke Bastogne, and the Lake Fairy, as he devoutly knelt by the lake, drinking the Holy Water from the Holy Grail.

This banner accompanied Arthur throughout his life, blessed directly by the Lake God. Under this very banner, Arthur unified all of Brittania, ushering in an era of light for humanity.

The banner fluttered in the cold night wind. The twelve founding Holy Grail Knights waged twelve epic battles under this banner, and even after a thousand years, it remained as bright as new.

That grand and stirring history seemed as though it had just happened yesterday.

”Everyone! Look!” Laine laughed, approaching confidently, the Lake Fairy’s Divine Chosen Champion radiating spirit, surrounded by the Light of Spiritual Power, as if an ancient War God descended to fight beside mankind: ”Knights! There is the knight’s oath on the banner! Knights! Do you remember the oath of the Knightly Path?!”

”Remember! Remember!” How could they not remember? Every knight of Brittania, from birth and first words, is taught to uphold the oath of knights—a teaching etched in their souls.

Under the Lake God Battle Banner, Laine recited before everyone as all knights joined in response.

”By this sword as proof! In the name of Brittania and the Lake Fairy, I sing!”

”I vow to treat the weak kindly!”

”I vow to face violence with courage!”

”I vow to fight against all wrong!”

”I vow to stand for the defenseless!”

”I vow not to harm women or children!”

”I vow to aid my fellow knights!”

”I vow to treat my friends sincerely!”

”I vow to remain true in love until death!”

The glorious history blurred over a thousand years of time, greed and arrogance replacing honor and morality, knights gradually becoming selfish and arrogant, the Lake Fairy’s teachings growing unclear. As knights recited together the Knight’s Oath on the Lake God Battle Banner, many couldn’t help but cry openly. However much they denied their family history, the knight’s oath could not be false, it was they who failed to uphold their oath, it was they who abandoned the Goddess’s teachings.
