Chapter 1223: Chapter 528: Oath of Victory

Closer, ever closer, as Laine held the Goddess of Revenge before Mathew Bade, Mathew Bade had just sliced a Bastogne Kingdom Knight with the Viper Sword.

With a piercing shriek, Impres flashed past Mathew Bade, as the Goddess of Revenge clashed with the Viper Sword, Mathew Bade felt the terrifying power coursing through the blade, forcing him and his Undead Warhorse to step back two paces, the Duke of Musillon’s hateful eyes fixed on the retreating Laine, and he shouted madly: ”Are you happy being her lackey?”

”...” Laine did not respond, using the Goddess of Revenge as the most forceful reply, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy pulled tight his reins, with one hand casting a shining arc with the Goddess of Revenge, burning with silver flames and shimmering with pale blue light, it carved a deep groove into Mathew Bade’s shield, flashing white, and Mathew Bade was knocked off his horse.

In a frenzy, the Duke of Musillon threw away his shield, grabbing Laine’s arm to pull him off the Griffin, Laine leaned forward off his seat, swinging a punch to smash apart the house behind Mathew Bade, the Goddess of Revenge pierced through Mathew Bade’s Cursed Armor while the Viper Sword skidded sparks along Laine’s shoulder armor.

Through secret techniques, Mathew Bade’s power advanced rapidly, now matching Laine’s; however, as it wasn’t his own strength, Mathew Bade found himself on the backfoot in the battle, feeling he couldn’t quite hold his ground.

But he had no way back.

A terrible duel ensued, amid the flickering lights and shadows, was Laine and Mathew Bade’s battle, after more than a dozen exchanges, Laine’s Goddess of Revenge fell heavily, shattering the stone slabs where Mathew Bade previously stood, the second sword followed, its flames searing Mathew Bade’s face, then Laine punched, covering Mathew Bade’s handsome face with his fist.

”Whack!” The Black Knight’s handsome nose was broken, with a scream, Mathew Bade grabbed Laine’s White Holy Grail Cloak, throwing him away.

Laine pulled out Mjolnir, roaring as he hurled it straight at Mathew Bade’s head.

The thunderous Mjolnir hurtled toward its target, leaving burning air in its wake, in a panic, Mathew Bade defended with both hands, his left arm immediately echoing the sound of bone shattering, immense pain forcing a scream from him, Mjolnir’s impact also sent him flying straight to the castle entrance.

”My Duke!” The Vampire Lord Belites quickly aided him, ”Alas, we can’t hold it! Also, Richard Castle reports! The Duke of Connet, Lorne, leads over twenty thousand Knightly Army from the north into Musillon, currently besieging Richard Castle! We must aid Richard Castle! Or there’s no way to hold it!”

”What?!” Mathew Bade, clutching his chest and covered in blood, looked at the scene before him: the Undead Army couldn’t withstand the Knights’ assault, everywhere the Holy Lake God Battle Banner passed, all undead crumbled into bone fragments, under the lead of Lake God Witch Mogiana and a dozen Holy Grail Knights, the Brittania Knights swept and crushed Undead Army entering the castle, gradually charging toward the gates.

”Retreat!” Mathew Bade gritted his teeth, ordering, ”Tell Merovin to retreat with the men! Have Zilfroy cover the retreat!”

”Yes! Retreat, retreat!!!” Belites then shouted, ”Retreat!”

Laine descended from mid-air, crashing into a noble’s stone house and bouncing on the ground, falling into undead bone fragments, lightly coughing as he tried to get up, a Fear Beast’s roar came from above, diving toward him!

Laine instantly abandoned getting up, attempting to block with the Goddess of Revenge, when another screech assaulted from the side, ”Aaaah!”

It was Impres! The Griffin swooped from the side, striking the Fear Beast’s neck! The two giant beasts collided before Laine, rolling aside, crushing two houses, as Impres extended its beak, fiercely piercing the Fear Beast’s belly, tearing out a chunk of flesh!

”Die!” Laine rolled to his feet, jogging a few steps to the Fear Beast, Impres understandingly pinned its head with a claw, as Laine gripped the Goddess of Revenge’s hilt with both hands, thrusting downward with force, a splash of rank black blood covering him.

The Fear Beast ceased moving.

When Laine regained his senses, the undead had fallen apart, under the Mad Duke Merovin’s command, withdrawing from the Sharp-Top Palace.

In the distance, dawn had arrived, the sun rising into the sky, the undead retreated, Musillon’s Undead Army ultimately fled before the wrath of the Brittania people!

Cheers erupted continuously, unknown if the knights celebrated this historic great victory, or their survival.

”Victory!”

”We won! We held the Sharp-Top Palace!”

”Long live the Lady! Long live Laine Macadon!”

”Victory!!!”
