Warhammer Divine Throne

In fact, it was an incredibly wise decision for Mathew Bade to immediately order Vampire Belites to lead the vanguard army to attack the Sharp-Top Palace after receiving the news, because when Belites set out with the Undead Vanguard from Musillon, Laine’s army had just finished building the pontoon bridge with the help of the Dwarf Engineer.

”Hurry up! Even faster! We don’t have much time left!” Nearly all the knights were loudly commanding the transportation of supplies, assisting in the fortress defense work. After Laine personally carried a cannon to the city wall, the Master Knights were also forced to help transport supplies themselves. After all, when the Commander is personally down working hard labor, surely nobody dares to stand idle.

Many young Ranger Knights complained vehemently, saying they came here to recover Musillon, not to do heavy labor. However, Laine’s subordinate Juan Carlos the Sun Watcher immediately retorted with conviction: ”Sweat more during peacetime, bleed less during wartime!”

Upon hearing this, a knight immediately rebutted, saying that Brittania’s knightly path has never been about using these ranged weapons. It’s fine for you commoners to use them, but we Master Knights disdain such things.

A real man fights in close combat!

At this moment, carrying a cannon weighing a thousand pounds and slowly walking up the city wall, Laine spoke: ”So losing Sharp-Top Palace is no big deal? Is it fine to always leave Musillon under the rule of the undead?”

This time, the knights fell silent.

”Two hundred and eighty years have passed since the last Duke of Connaught, Madred, was killed after the Dor Tower incident, leaving Musillon without a duke. This place has turned into land eternally eroded by sorrow and corruption, over two hundred years now, we have come here time and time again, only to return in defeat. Is this the knightly path? Is the knightly path to stand by and watch as the land granted to us by the Lady remains forever desolate and corrupted?”

”We have been preparing for this war for many years.” Laine put down the heavy cannon and stood on the city wall, addressing all the knights: ”We raid this castle on cold nights, charging in storms and blizzards, fighting in the dark, winning victory at dawn. Now, after decades, our banner flies once more over Sharp-Top Palace, but this is only the beginning!”

”The undead also know the importance of Sharp-Top Palace; their counterattack will be immensely fierce. And we have only over five thousand men; we must hold back an undead army of at least twenty thousand here. Knights, we have no retreat, no escape. If we fail, tomorrow our corpses will wield the weapons we once held, turning against our comrades. Even then, does it matter?” Laine addressed all the knights: ”If we are defeated, vampires will be victorious. This battle will be rendered worthless. Are you willing to die without value? To become the plaything of the undead after death?!”

Voices of opposition erupted among the knights, loudly responding to Laine’s words.

”No! Fight to the death! Fight to the end!”

”Annihilate the undead!”

”Recover Musillon! For the Lady! For Brittania!”

”For Landuin! For Laine Macado!”

Laine nodded with satisfaction; his prestige in the Knight Kingdom was still very high. Seeing the knights’ spirits fired up, he shouted loudly: ”Now, we still have a chance! We can help our friend King Belgar move the cannons onto the wall, transport supplies into the city. As long as we hold Sharp-Top Palace, the future will belong to us! The Kingdom’s land must not be desecrated by any evil undead! Let us unite as one, to defend Sharp-Top Palace, knights, extend your hands! For the Lady!”

”For the Lady!” The Master Knights immediately seemed invigorated, joining the ranks of those helping, making the whole pace much quicker with these strong professional soldiers.

Nonetheless, it remained extremely difficult to hoist the heavy Dwarf cannons onto the walls due to their sheer weight. Moreover, for this attack on Musillon, Laine brought nearly all of his amassed cannons and organ cannons, as well as those of the Angland Clan, numbering well over a hundred in various models.

Lake God Witch Mogiana presided over the castle hall, continuously issuing orders. After the pontoon bridge was completed, mountains of grain supplies and various strategic materials were moved into the castle box by box: countless bags of bread, frozen vegetables, meats, fish, and some high-end foods for the Master Knights, as well as various feeds for horses.

”These kinds of military provisions are indeed plentiful,” exclaimed knights from the Kakasong Duchy. Duke Hubert of Kakasong had sent five hundred knights and a Knight’s Squire army here under Laine’s command. Some knights shook their heads upon seeing the food: ”My God, this meal is almost as good as what we eat!”

The Kakasong Duchy guards Brittania’s southern border, being constantly attacked by Beastman Warband and Green Skin Tribe. Thus, the entire duchy remains in perpetual readiness, trading constantly with Tiriel and Estalia, housing a branch of the War Goddess Academy. This makes both the knight and peasant classes in Kakasong extremely martial, easing tensions between these classes to a certain extent. When all are threatened, knights often encourage peasants to ”stand alone” by reducing taxes, while virtually all peasants in the duchy undergo some form of military training to protect their homes and country. Duke Hubert governs the duchy with exceptionally strict laws.
