Chapter 2449: Chapter 2450: Return to Tianyun (16)

Taoming Ye only ate a little, then stopped eating.

Su Xing continued eating heartily while asking him, ”Do you eat so little, or did you already eat a lot at the banquet just now?”

Taoming Ye replied, ”My body needs to eat an appropriate amount each meal, otherwise I feel worse.”

”What exactly is your illness?”

Taoming Ye shook his head, ”The doctors can’t pinpoint any specific ailment; they just prescribe some tonics for daily consumption.”

”If they can’t diagnose any illness, yet start with tonics, they must be quacks!” Su Xing couldn’t agree with that at all.

Without waiting for Taoming Ye to speak, Su Xing continued, ”Stop taking those quack’s medicines. Maybe your body is getting worse because of them!”

A sharp glint passed through Taoming Ye’s gentle eyes, but it disappeared so quickly that Su Xing didn’t notice.

Taoming Ye smiled tenderly, ”If the medicine’s no good, I won’t take it. It is personally sent by the head maidservant from mother, a token of her care.”

Taoming Ye’s birth mother was Tao Chengyin’s concubine, who passed away long ago. The mother he refers to now is naturally the Tao family’s mistress and Taoming Hai’s birth mother—Mrs. Cao.

Upon hearing this, Su Xing sneered, ”Your stepmother doesn’t have any genuine care; she might be wishing you’d die sooner!” As the legitimate eldest son, he’s a thorn in the side for any rightful wife in any household.

Taoming Ye quickly covered her mouth, shaking his head gently but worriedly, signaling her not to speak recklessly.

Su Xing, however, pulled his hand down from her mouth and said, ”What’s there to fear! I’m Huo Xiner, I’m not afraid of her! If need be, I’ll take you away from the Tao family, better than being bullied here! I have hands and feet, and I know martial arts, I can definitely support you! Just listen to me, I’m your wife, I won’t harm you!”

Never before had he seen someone so fearless; no one had ever defended him like this. Taoming Ye was profoundly moved.

Yet, he didn’t show the complex emotions in his heart; he only looked at her tenderly, dotingly, and lightly nodded with a soft and compliant word: ”Mm.”

Seeing his compliance and tenderness, Su Xing felt her heart soften immensely, making her care even more about his health: ”Have you seen an Imperial Physician for this? Your father is a Third-ranking official, and colleagues with the Imperial Physicians. If he requests, surely an Imperial Physician can look after you, right?”

Taoming Ye nodded, ”Father asked Doctor Chen to see me, but Doctor Chen couldn’t diagnose any illness. Doctor Chen mentioned that Prince Xing has exceptional medical skills and might discern my ailment and cure me, but Prince is a noble; how could my father dare to ask him to come for a commoner’s illness?”

Prince Xing?

Su Xing squinted and then asked with a smile, ”Is Prince Xing the Second Prince, Su Yixing?”

This time, Taoming Ye more urgently covered her mouth, lowering his voice, ”The names of the Princes are not for us to casually say; do not be so reckless in the future.”

Su Xing pulled his hand away again but this time without annoyance; she laughed softly, ”I won’t do that again, don’t worry.”

However, in her heart, she had resolved to find Su Yixing to have him diagnose her husband in the future.

If the King and Queen really are her parents and still remember her as their daughter, they would surely acknowledge her, just like in the modern world, where her parents took in her sister An Baobei as a daughter under the guise of a bet.
