Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2423: Chapter 2424: Be Careful About Everything

An Baobei saw it, reached out to take the phone, and the incoming call displayed an unfamiliar number. An Baobei didn’t mind and helped Ning Zihan answer the call.

But before she could speak, the person on the other end did, crying as she spoke, a woman’s voice: ”Zihan, Mom begs you, please stop hanging up on Mom’s calls, let Mom finish talking, Mom really has something to say to you.”

Upon hearing the woman in the call refer to herself as Ning Zihan’s mom, An Baobei was first stunned, then politely said, ”I’m not Zihan, I’m his wife, An Baobei.”

Honestly, because this mom left a trauma and shadow in Ning Zihan’s heart, it made Ning Zihan dislike women even to this day. Even though she had never met this mom, An Baobei didn’t like her either.

”An Baobei... you must be my daughter-in-law, Baobei!” Ning Zihan’s mom—Fang Boya seemed very surprised. Then, she pleaded, ”Baobei, Mom begs you to please let Zihan know that I’m seriously ill, about to die, and want to see him once more. Please?”

”You are seriously ill?”

”Yes, the doctor said it’s late-stage stomach cancer, and I only have a few months left to live. I really want to see Zihan before I die, please you must relay this. That child hates me, I know. His sister also hates me, his sister hangs up immediately when she gets my calls. But I really want to see them. Please, you must help me tell them.”

Seeing Fang Boya speak so pitifully, and since it’s just passing on a message, An Baobei agreed: ”I will help you relay it, but I can’t guarantee if he will want to see you.”

Fang Boya just cried and thanked her: ”Thank you... thank you...”

”Goodbye then.” An Baobei wasn’t familiar with this Fang Boya, so she didn’t say much and hung up the phone.

Listening to the sound of water coming from the bathroom, An Baobei began to feel empathy for her husband.

According to what Fang Boya said, Fang Boya had been calling her husband recently, but every time her husband heard Fang Boya’s voice, he hung up immediately. Her husband hadn’t said a word to her about it, he must be feeling really bad inside.

No matter how that person hurt him, she is still the one who gave birth to him.

As soon as Ning Zihan came out after showering, he saw An Baobei lying on the bed, neither watching TV nor sleeping, unsure of what she was thinking, he asked while drying his hair, ”What’s wrong?”

When An Baobei saw him come out, she struggled to sit up, Ning Zihan quickly went over to assist her, letting her sit up against the headboard.

With her belly so big now, everything must be done cautiously.

An Baobei smiled, patting the bed next to her, inviting Ning Zihan to sit down. Once Ning Zihan had sat down, she took the towel from Ning Zihan’s hand and helped him dry his hair, saying gently as she did, ”I received a call from your mom just now.”

Ning Zihan’s expression changed immediately, looking very displeased, ”What nonsense did she say to you?”

”She didn’t say anything nonsensical, she just mentioned she’s got stomach cancer, late-stage, about to die, and wants to see you once before she dies.”

Ning Zihan didn’t let her continue drying his hair, taking the towel to dry it himself, no longer sitting by the bed, but walking to the French windows, standing with his back to An Baobei, facing the dark night outside.

An Baobei looked at Ning Zihan in this state, feeling even more empathy.

After quite a while, Ning Zihan finally said calmly, ”I won’t see her. Don’t interfere in this matter, I don’t want to argue with you.”
