Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1989: Chapter 1990: Beaming with Joy

The two of them hadn’t even been on the same page for a month before they had to part. An Yiqing was really reluctant too, but for the sake of being together longer in the future, he hardened his heart and rode off.

Because the weather was still nice, it only took An Yiqing nine days to return to An Jing and Xiao Changyi’s secluded place.

An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi hadn’t returned to the Imperial City yet. They were still waiting here for him, planning to go back to the Capital together with him. Now, the moment they saw him return, An Yiqi laughed and shouted, ”Third Brother, why did you take so long to come back? But, honestly, after all this time, have you managed to win over our Third Sister-in-law?”

An Yiqing knocked An Yiqi on the head before happily saying, ”I’ve got it sorted.”

As An Jing’s favorite little critic, An Yiqi never disappointed. He immediately retorted, ”You were so adamantly denying liking her before, but now, tut tut, Third Brother, you should blush because I’m embarrassed for you.”

”You’re such a chatterbox!”

An Yiqing raised his hand, playfully pretending to hit An Yiqi. An Yiqi quickly ran away but didn’t forget to continue teasing An Yiqing about saying one thing and doing another. However, An Yiqing ignored him and went to find his parents.

As soon as he saw An Jing and Xiao Changyi, An Yiqing smiled and said, ”Dad, Mom, I have something to tell you.”

An Jing smiled, ”Looking at your cheerful face, I can tell it’s good news.”

”Yes, it’s good news. Lele and I are together now.”

An Jing deliberately asked, ”Isn’t Lele with your second brother? Didn’t she say she wanted to marry him?”

An Yiqing immediately pleaded, ”Mom, please don’t joke like Qi’er and the others. I really didn’t realize I liked Lele before; I wasn’t pretending.”

An Jing then laughed again, ”Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. You’re not only here to tell us you’re with Lele, are you?”

”There’s one more thing: I want you and Dad to formally propose to Lele’s family so we can set this marriage. As for the wedding, as soon as Second Brother is married, I’ll marry Lele.”

”For a girl to marry into our family, we have to formally propose. Besides, your Uncle Gong and Aunt Ye treasure Lele so much, they wouldn’t let her marry casually.” An Jing paused, becoming curious, ”Quick, tell me how you convinced your Uncle Gong and Aunt Ye. You should know, they were the least satisfied with you as their son-in-law. I was worried you couldn’t win them over.”

An Yiqing immediately put on a pained expression, ”I got beaten up by my future father-in-law and had to rest for half a month, otherwise, I would have returned earlier. He and Aunt Ye also made me sign a pledge with several conditions, but they all boil down to treating Lele well and being a couple for life.”

An Jing laughed, ”What they worry about most is you fooling around outside. Now that you’ve signed a pledge guaranteeing her, no wonder they agreed.”

An Yiqing protested, ”Mom, I’ve never fooled around outside, so why do you all insist I do? I often go to brothels, but only to listen to music, drink, and look at beautiful women.”

An Jing said, ”No matter what, going to a brothel always causes misunderstandings. They treasure Lele so much. Just think, if our dear one fell for someone who always visits brothels, never mind your dad and I, even as her brother, you wouldn’t be at ease with her marrying him.”
