Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1959: Chapter 1960: He Has Someone in His Heart

...

On Chinese New Year’s Eve, An Jing was enjoying an extremely lively family dinner, while at Slayer Tower, Gong Le, Su Yixing, Ye Zhi, and Gong Juechen were also having their New Year’s dinner together. Though the four of them had spent previous New Year’s Eves together and it appeared lively on the surface now, in reality, each of them was preoccupied with their own thoughts.

Gong Le was pondering over An Yiqing, Su Yixing was thinking about Huo Qingyi, and Ye Zhi was concerned about Gong Le.

Gong Juechen was also worried about Gong Le and secretly plotting that one day he would give An Yiqing a good beating. His precious daughter hadn’t been in a good mood these past few days!

In the middle of the New Year’s Eve dinner, while chatting happily with Gong Juechen, Gong Le suddenly shifted the conversation and asked Su Yixing, ”Brother Xing, is it true that if I want to marry, you’ll marry me?”

Su Yixing remained ever composed, smiling calmly and said, ”Of course.”

Gong Le immediately said, ”Alright, I want to marry you now. When will you marry me?”

Su Yixing paused for a moment before smiling again, ”Whenever you like.”

”Then on my sixteenth birthday.”

”Alright.” Su Yixing had no objections. In his mind, he was certain that ultimately Gong Le wouldn’t really marry him, so it didn’t matter to him what date was chosen.

Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen, however, exchanged glances, finding it hard to believe what they heard and saw.

”Lele,” Ye Zhi gently laughed and asked, fearing that their precious daughter would once again be in a bad mood, ”Weren’t you still upset over An Yiqing yesterday? How come today you’re thinking about marrying Star?”

Gong Juechen echoed, ”Yes, yes, Lele, why have you suddenly decided you want to marry Star?”

Gong Le looked at Gong Juechen and Ye Zhi in confusion, ”Dad, Mom, haven’t you always wanted me to marry Brother Xing? Now that I want to marry Brother Xing, shouldn’t you be happy instead of questioning why? Besides, since Brother Qing doesn’t want to marry me, do I have to continue pining after him without ever getting married?”

Ye Zhi immediately laughed, ”As long as you can understand.”

”But—”

Gong Juechen wanted to say something but was stopped by Ye Zhi, who signaled to him with her eyes: ”It was Lele not wanting to marry before, but now that Lele is willing, of course, we should fulfill this. Star is our favorite choice for a son-in-law.”

Gong Juechen, with slightly complex emotion reflected in his peach blossom eyes, glanced at Su Yixing but indeed said nothing.

Gong Le then asked with a smile, ”So Dad and Mom, this means you are agreeing to Brother Xing and me, right?”

”Of course!” Ye Zhi immediately smiled. ”Star is a responsible child, you marrying him puts our minds at ease.”

Ye Zhi then turned to Su Yixing, ”Star, not today, but tomorrow you should send someone to inform your parents that things with you and Lele are to be decided. Whether you truly marry on Lele’s sixteenth birthday depends on whether the day is auspicious for marriage; if it is, then you will truly wed on that day.”

”Yes, Master Mother.” Su Yixing agreed without any objections.

Seeing Ye Zhi so happy, Gong Juechen felt even more complex emotions.

Actually, he was also very satisfied with Su Yixing as a son-in-law. Su Yixing was extremely responsible, and were his daughter to marry Su Yixing, whether it stemmed from a husband’s duties or other reasons, Su Yixing would treat his daughter well. He and his wife simply wanted to find someone who would treat their daughter well as a son-in-law.

But the problem is, Su Yixing already has someone he loves!
