Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1956: Chapter 1957: He’s Not Entirely to Blame

”Dad... Mom... sob... Big Brother Qing... Big Brother Qing said he doesn’t like me... sob...” Gong Le was crying so hard she could barely breathe, ”I asked him to propose, but he refused... sob...”

”It’s him again!” Gong Juechen was so angry he wanted to tear An Yiqing apart. Seeing Gong Le still crying relentlessly, Gong Juechen scolded, ”I told you before not to cling to him, and now look, you delivered yourself up for him to humiliate!”

”Dad, you’re yelling at me...” Gong Le said tearfully, truly heartbroken.

Gong Juechen immediately surrendered, hastily comforting her, ”No, no, Dad wasn’t yelling at you, Lele, be good, Dad is just upset because you’re our precious one, and I can’t stand seeing you treated like this by him.”

Ye Zhi was wiping Gong Le’s tears while feeling relieved, ”It’s good that he doesn’t like you; your dad and I didn’t want you to marry him anyway. Now you won’t have to think about marrying him every day. If you married him, your dad and I would worry every day that you’d be bullied by him. You’ve been bullied by him enough before, only recently has it gotten better.”

”Mom, I’m heartbroken...” Gong Le’s tears fell as soon as she thought about it.

”Don’t be sad, don’t be sad,” Ye Zhi quickly softened her tone to comfort her, wiping Gong Le’s tears more gently, ”Look at yourself, crying like this, be good, Lele, don’t cry. If he doesn’t want to marry you, you still have Brother Xing. Brother Xing said he would marry you as long as you wanted to.”

Gong Juechen was also afraid of his precious daughter’s tearful assault and softened his tone, ”If you don’t want to marry Star, that’s okay too. Dad will find someone better for you. My precious daughter is sought after by many. Lele, don’t cry. Just forget about An Yiqing; all he does is bully you. Your mom and I want you to be happy every day; that’s why we named you Gong Le. Our Lele must be happy.”

”I want to be happy, but I’m... I’m feeling sad now...” Gong Le sobbed, ”It’s so painful...”

Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen comforted her gently for quite a while before finally coaxing Gong Le to stop crying.

Only after Gong Le went back to her room did Gong Juechen’s face darken again, ”An Yiqing is really too much, hurting Lele’s heart like this. He obviously knew Lele liked him, yet let her cling to him for so long, and now he doesn’t want to marry her? He’s just toying with Lele’s feelings! I won’t let him off!”

”Enough, we didn’t want Lele to end up with him anyway, isn’t this just what we wanted?” Ye Zhi held back Gong Juechen, who was ready to send someone to teach An Yiqing a lesson.

Gong Juechen was still furious.

Ye Zhi sighed before continuing, ”Besides, it’s not all his fault; Lele has always clung to him since she was little. But honestly, if he didn’t always go to the brothel, and didn’t always bully Lele, we wouldn’t object to Lele being with him either.”

After all, Lele is her precious daughter, and she hopes Lele can marry a man who is devoted and good to her.

Aside from the bullying, An Yiqing is actually quite good to Lele, but since he’s always going to the brothel, from any perspective, she can’t see An Yiqing as being devoted.

”Don’t be angry anymore,” Ye Zhi continued, ”Given the current situation, we don’t need to worry about An Yiqing’s devotion. He won’t actually become our son-in-law. We can be at ease now.”
