Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1979: Chapter 1980: She Doesn’t Ask for Much Either

”Why are you in such a hurry?” Su Yixing rolled his eyes. ”Haven’t you two just confessed your feelings?”

An Yiqing hadn’t spoken yet when Gong Le giggled, ”Brother Jing is just a little older than you guys, but he’s been married for years and already has kids.”

Su Yixing was momentarily speechless.

Actually, he’d liked someone long before his older brother did, it’s just that his beloved had been slow to catch on and couldn’t fall for him. Otherwise, right after his brother got married, he would’ve too; there would have been no need to wait until now.

Unable to help it, Su Yixing was irritated by Huo Qingyi’s lack of awareness and said grumpily, ”I’m telling you all, you better be nice to me, or I’ll never get married, and neither will any of you.”

An Yiqing couldn’t believe it: ”Second Brother, that’s too cruel...”

”If you don’t want me to be cruel, then hope that Qingyi likes me soon,” Su Yixing said, rare for him to be so indifferent.

An Yiqing was about to say something, but Gong Le cheerfully comforted him, ”Big Brother Qing, we don’t actually need to rush. I’m not even sixteen yet. Besides, after you, there’s A Qi, Ah Lin, and A Zhi. If Brother Xing doesn’t get married, it seems like A Qi and the others can’t either.”

”That’s true.” An Yiqing immediately felt balanced.

Su Yixing, however, didn’t feel balanced. No, it wasn’t about balance; it was discomfort. He could already foresee how many people would urge him to get married if he kept delaying it.

But fortunately, he never planned on delaying it indefinitely.

...

The two of them had confessed their feelings, and now for Gong Le and An Yiqing, even the air felt sweet.

After dinner, An Yiqing took Gong Le to his room, and after chatting for a while, he escorted Gong Le back to where she was staying.

Walking hand in hand in the night, talking and laughing, the atmosphere was no longer the same as before; it was particularly sweet.

An Yiqing only escorted Gong Le to the entrance of her courtyard, but Gong Le asked, ”Big Brother Qing, aren’t you coming in?”

”No,” An Yiqing’s tone instinctively became much gentler, and his smile was also softer, ”You live in the same courtyard as your parents. I’m afraid of running into them. I think it’s better if I come back tomorrow. It’s already so late today, let’s leave it at that.”

”Okay, then I’m going in.” With that, Gong Le intended to turn around and enter the yard. But after taking just a step, she foolishly grinned and turned back around. ”Let me see you leave first, then I’ll go in.”

An Yiqing chuckled, ”I was planning to leave after seeing you go in, but since you said that, I’ll head off first.”

”Mm-hmm, you go on,” Gong Le giggled, ”I’m more used to watching your back than turning my back on you as you leave.”

Hearing this, An Yiqing was instantly moved. He pulled her into a hug and let out a barely audible sigh before promising, ”Lele, I won’t do that anymore. Before, I didn’t know I liked you, so I didn’t always consider you. I just thought about my own happiness.”

The light was dim, and with An Yiqing holding Gong Le, he didn’t notice the satisfied smile at the corner of her mouth.

She thought, just giving isn’t enough. She hoped he would reciprocate. She didn’t expect much, just hoped he would love her as much as she loved him.

”It’s okay, it’s okay,” Gong Le said generously, ”Before, Big Brother Qing hadn’t realized he liked me. Now that he has, naturally he’ll treat me differently. Didn’t Big Brother Qing already decide to marry me?”
