Chapter 1370: Chapter 1371: It’s Not Like I’m Really Scolding You

Gong Juechen started being demanding, acting like a child: ”I don’t want the cook’s food, I want yours.”

Ye Zhi froze for a moment, then spun around abruptly and snapped, ”You’re pretty picky, aren’t you? The problem is, I don’t know how to cook or make food. Haha.”

But just as she finished laughing, she realized something herself: ”Wait, no. I think I know how to make egg fried rice.”

Gong Juechen immediately said, ”Then egg fried rice it is.”

Ye Zhi almost wanted to slap her own mouth. Why did she even mention she could make egg fried rice?!

Oh well, considering how much care he’d shown her when she was hurt earlier, she decided to go ahead and make him some egg fried rice.

And so, Ye Zhi actually went to the kitchens and fried up a batch of egg fried rice.

As soon as she came back, she threatened him harshly: ”If you dare make me feed you this, I’ll slap you to death.”

Gong Juechen didn’t insist on being fed. When he saw Ye Zhi hand him the egg fried rice and chopsticks, he took them, and then slowly started eating the egg fried rice she had made.

Seeing Gong Juechen take the egg fried rice and chopsticks, Ye Zhi plopped herself down across from him—also sitting on the ground. The floor was a bit cold, but Ye Zhi didn’t mind.

”If it hadn’t been for my Boss telling me that you’d be feeling down and asking me to look after you and keep you company, I wouldn’t even bother with you.” Ye Zhi said, watching Gong Juechen eat his egg fried rice while talking. ”By the way, why are you feeling so down?”

Gong Juechen said nothing and continued eating his egg fried rice with his head down.

”Hey, Gong Juechen, I’m asking you a question, why are you feeling down? Even if you couldn’t cure the Retired Emperor, it wouldn’t have to be like this, right?”

Gong Juechen still didn’t answer and kept his head down, eating his egg fried rice.

”Gong Juechen!” It was the first time Ye Zhi had been ignored by Gong Juechen. This had never happened before, and now she was getting a little angry.

Previously, Gong Juechen had always clung to her. She could say one sentence, and he’d respond with another—and sometimes with ten, twenty sentences. But now? He hadn’t said a word for ages.

Honestly, she wasn’t used to this version of him.

Gong Juechen still stayed silent, but he began eating his egg fried rice more and more urgently—faster and faster, faster and faster...

”Hey, slow down! No one’s going to steal it from you.” Worried that Gong Juechen might choke, Ye Zhi, seeing him wolfing down his egg fried rice like crazy, immediately told him to slow down.

But Gong Juechen didn’t listen one bit.

He kept eating faster and faster.

Faster and faster...

In the end, he really did choke—coughing violently, his devilishly handsome face turning bright red from the spasms.

”I told you to slow down, but you wouldn’t listen. See, you’ve choked now!” Ye Zhi scolded him while vigorously patting his back to help soothe him and make him feel a little better.

Once Gong Juechen stopped coughing, his peach blossom eyes suddenly began to turn red, and tears started streaming down without warning.

Ye Zhi was stunned when she saw this and panicked, flusteringly saying, ”Hey, why are you crying? I’ve scolded you loads of times before, way worse than this, and you never cried. You’re a man, and you’re crying? That’s so lame! Fine, fine, it’s my fault, alright? I didn’t mean to yell at you just now—it’s just that you were eating like you’d been reincarnated as a starving ghost and choked yourself, so I couldn’t help but say a few words. It wasn’t even real scolding.”

Seeing Gong Juechen still silently shedding tears, Ye Zhi didn’t know what else to do. ”Hey... you really are a man, aren’t you? Haven’t you heard the saying, ’Real men do not cry easily’?”
