Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1369: Chapter 1370: No Wonder He Looks Like a Ghost

”Gong Juechen.” Ye Zhi didn’t immediately enter Gong Juechen’s tent. She just stood outside and called out.

Seeing that Gong Juechen didn’t respond, she called again, ”Gong Juechen.”

When there was still no response, Ye Zhi stopped calling and went straight to lift the tent flap and walked inside.

As soon as she entered, Ye Zhi found Gong Juechen sitting cross-legged on the ground, completely expressionless.

”There’s a chair and you’re not sitting on it, yet you’re sitting on the ground?” Ye Zhi said, walking toward Gong Juechen, clearly exasperated.

Gong Juechen didn’t speak. He continued to sit there, his enchanting face devoid of any emotion, and his peach blossom eyes were utterly vacant.

Seeing that Gong Juechen neither spoke nor looked at her and still maintained his lifeless demeanor, Ye Zhi bent down, waved her hand in front of him, ”Hey! Snap out of it, Gong Juechen!”

He remained the same.

Ye Zhi rolled her eyes to the heavens before grabbing Gong Juechen’s shoulders with both hands and shaking him hard, ”Gong Juechen, snap out of it! Snap out of it!”

Finally, Gong Juechen showed some reaction. He slightly lifted his eyelids and looked at her. After a long moment, he struggled to speak, ”Zhizhi, I’m hungry.”

Hearing his hoarse voice and noticing his cracked lips, Ye Zhi blinked and asked, ”Are you sure you’re hungry? Because I feel like you’re thirsty.”

”Also thirsty.”

”Then drink something yourself. The water’s right there.” Ye Zhi raised her hand and pointed to the water jug on the table.

”You feed me.”

”Do you not have hands or what?” Ye Zhi really felt like kicking Gong Juechen. Looking so lifeless, yet the words out of his mouth were shamelessly ridiculous. She wasn’t about to indulge this behavior!

Gong Juechen didn’t say anything more. He just lowered his eyelids and resumed his vacant look, sitting there exactly as before.

Ye Zhi: ”...”

Seeing his lips, truly parched to the point of peeling, Ye Zhi fell silent for a moment before asking quietly, ”How long has it been since you drank water?”

Without even looking at her, Gong Juechen replied, ”Three days.”

”You’re insane!” Ye Zhi cursed instinctively and turned to grab the water jug from the table.

Thinking that the water in the jug might not be clean after three days, Ye Zhi carried the jug out, emptied it, and replaced it with a jug of warm water before returning.

The water was at a pleasantly warm drinking temperature, not too hot. As soon as Ye Zhi came back in, she grabbed a teacup, poured Gong Juechen a cup of water, and handed it to him.

”Here, drink.”

But Gong Juechen didn’t take it. He remained sitting motionless.

Ye Zhi fell silent again before muttering half-heartedly, ”Fine, since you fed me water before, I’ll return the favor this time.” Saying so, Ye Zhi brought the teacup to Gong Juechen’s lips.

Only then did Gong Juechen open his lips and drink.

One cup wasn’t enough to quench his thirst. Gong Juechen ended up drinking six cups in a row before he finally stopped.

Ye Zhi stood up and walked toward the table, intending to put down the water jug and teacup. As she moved, she casually commented, ”Haven’t drunk water in three days. Don’t tell me you haven’t eaten anything either.”

”Mm.” Gong Juechen actually admitted to it.

Ye Zhi froze for a moment, then quickened her steps, putting the jug and teacup down on the table before rushing outside. As she walked, she muttered curses under her breath, ”How didn’t you starve or die of thirst yet?! You have to be mad to go three days without eating or drinking!”

No wonder he looked like a ghost.

Gong Juechen watched Ye Zhi hurry out in long strides. He blinked vacantly and asked, ”Zhizhi, where are you going?”

”To tell the cook to make you something to eat!” She certainly couldn’t just let him starve to death!
