Chapter 1357: Chapter 1358: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Du Aya saw that Tobanya was once again pushing the decision back to her, so she didn’t decline anymore. First, she glanced at Qi Gaoda, then at Qi Weimeng, before smiling and saying, ”My second brother has such a small build. If I beat him, I’d feel like I’m bullying him. I’d better go up against my eldest brother instead. At least he’s taller than me, and if I win, it would feel more worthwhile.”

Seeing Du Aya opt to challenge Qi Gaoda, Tobanya then said, ”Then I’ll spar with Qi Weimeng.”

As soon as Tobanya finished speaking, she saw Qi Weimeng from the other side taking his sword and stepping into the arena. Tobanya first glanced at Meng Zhuqing not far away, signaling him to set his mind at ease, before taking her sword and stepping forward as well.

With Xiao Changyi’s guidance and instruction, Tobanya’s swordsmanship had advanced significantly. Previously, she couldn’t defeat Meng Zhuqing, but now, Meng Zhuqing couldn’t defeat her.

When Meng Zhuqing saw that his wife’s swordsmanship had surpassed his, he privately asked Xiao Changyi to give him some pointers too. Seeing Meng Zhuqing’s pleading expression, Xiao Changyi relented and even taught Meng Zhuqing a set of sword techniques.

Now, as long as Meng Zhuqing had time, he’d practice that set of techniques under Xiao Changyi’s guidance.

His wife’s skills had grown immensely, and he couldn’t afford to stagnate!

Tobanya entered the arena and first clasped her hands in salute to Qi Weimeng, saying courteously, ”I apologize in advance,” before drawing her sword to duel with Qi Weimeng.

Qi Weimeng’s swordsmanship was only slightly inferior to Xu Shangong’s. Xu Shangong had been defeated by Gong Juese back then, and now An Jing hoped Tobanya could defeat Qi Weimeng.

And Tobanya herself also hoped to defeat Qi Weimeng, so she gave it her all, holding nothing back.

Qi Weimeng thought Tobanya, being a Commandery Princess, might warrant some mercy. He intended to go easy on her so that she wouldn’t lose too miserably. However, as soon as Tobanya’s moves were unleashed, he immediately straightened his demeanor, not daring to show any leniency.

He was afraid that if he held back even a bit, he might lose.

As the two experts exchanged moves, the clashing of swords rang out incessantly. Sparks flew between Tobanya and Qi Weimeng’s blades, and the spectators were so absorbed that their blood boiled with excitement, completely forgetting this was just a sparring match.

Only when Tobanya gained a slight upper hand and successfully defeated Qi Weimeng did the onlookers snap back to reality, realizing this was a duel—and Qi Weimeng had lost.

Qi Weimeng actually lost...

The two individuals everyone believed could never lose were Qi Gaoda and Qi Weimeng. But now, Qi Weimeng had lost...

Even though they didn’t want to admit it, at this moment, they couldn’t deny how skilled the female soldiers were and dared not look down on them anymore.

The female soldiers truly hid extraordinary talent.

Now, everyone pinned their last shred of hope on Qi Gaoda, who hadn’t yet competed. Winning was now out of the question, but perhaps securing a draw was still possible. At least that way, they could maintain some dignity for their three military camps.

Our expectations really weren’t too high now, Vice General Qi...

All eyes turned to Qi Gaoda with earnest expressions.

Qi Gaoda paid no heed to their stares. He was currently troubled—he didn’t want to challenge his sworn sister. But now, only he and his sworn sister were left, and avoiding the duel wasn’t an option.

As soon as Qi Weimeng lost, he immediately sheathed his sword and clasped his hands at Tobanya, saying, ”This General concedes wholeheartedly!”

”Thank you for letting me win,” Tobanya replied politely and succinctly before stepping off the stage.

Then, Du Aya strode onto the stage boldly.

Qi Gaoda braced himself, his face flush, and stepped forward as well.

Yesterday, everyone saw Qi Gaoda’s face turn red; seeing it again today, they seemed accustomed to it and paid no mind.
