Chapter 1355: Chapter 1356: One-on-One Contest

A male soldier was sitting on the ground, pounding his legs as if they were useless. Seeing the female soldiers celebrating their victory, he muttered under his breath, ”What’s there to feel smug about? Tomorrow in one-on-one matches, I’ll knock you all down.”

Qi Tengfei immediately kicked the male soldier and scolded him, ”When you all left the military camp this morning, you were full of yourself! Now look at you, each one of you like a scared bear! And tomorrow? If you lose again tomorrow, let’s see how you ever have the face to call the female soldiers weak girls who can’t compare to you!”

The soldier, after being kicked and scolded, didn’t dare to say a single word in return.

As for Qi Tengfei kicking someone, An Jing only glanced over without saying anything.

That night, while nestled in Xiao Changyi’s arms, An Jing asked, ”Husband, tomorrow’s one-on-one matches—what do you think our chances are?”

”Barring any surprises, the female soldiers will win.”

Actually, An Jing had great confidence in her soldiers. Hearing Xiao Changyi say this, she stopped asking whether they’d win and pressed further: ”Then what do you think the score will be?”

Xiao Changyi replied calmly, ”Barring any surprises, Wild Goose Jade, Shi Shi, Du Aya, Chengyuan, Wuyu, and Lie Qi will definitely win. As for the other four, it depends on their performance.”

In other words, he was saying the score would likely be six to four—six for the female soldiers, four for the male soldiers.

An Jing nodded. ”I think it’ll be six to four too.” After a pause, she added, ”As long as we win tomorrow, the Wolves, Tigers, and Leopards battalions shouldn’t look down on the female soldiers anymore.”

The female soldiers were already stronger than them. If they continued to look down on them, it would just be blatant jealousy.

...

The next day, as before, it was at the fourth quarter-hour of the morning.

This time, the matches didn’t require leaving the camp. They were held directly on the training ground, and the participating male and female soldiers had already gathered in the center, standing opposite each other—ten female soldiers and ten male soldiers.

Surrounding the training ground were numerous soldiers from the three battalions, all there to spectate. The story of the ten male soldiers losing yesterday had spread, and it was utterly humiliating. Today, everyone had come to see those ten male soldiers redeem themselves.

In their eyes, in this one-on-one competition, there was no room for losing—only winning!

An Jing succinctly explained the rules of the competition before announcing the start of the match.

All ten male soldiers were top-ranked in their respective battalions, naturally possessing impressive skills.

Liu Feifei’s skills were only slightly better than an average soldier’s. Compared to these ten, her gap in skill was significant, so she quickly lost.

Liu Feifei was the first to compete.

The observing soldiers around the training ground, seeing Liu Feifei’s failure, assumed that the other female soldiers wouldn’t be any better, confidently believing victory was assured.

Only those who had witnessed the female soldiers’ physical prowess the previous day knew that Liu Feifei was the weakest among the female soldiers. Whether they could win or not, it wouldn’t be truly clear until the end.

Just like yesterday—halfway through the march, the male soldiers still thought they were going to win. But in the end? They lost, and lost miserably!

Next, Ting Shu, Shi Hua, Baoqin, and Lie Qi took their turns in order. These four specialized in using bows and arrows, and among them, Lie Qi’s archery was the fastest and most skilled.

Lie Qi also had the best physical endurance among the four.

Out of the four, Lie Qi was also the best at close-quarters combat.

As expected by An Jing and Xiao Changyi, Ting Shu, Shi Hua, and Baoqin all lost, while Lie Qi narrowly won. There was no helping it—bows and arrows were somewhat hard to use effectively in physical combat situations.
