Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1365: Chapter 1366: Promise Me

This is his biological father, who has been thinking of him over the years; he cannot just watch his father die like this.

He will find a way to save him.

Even though the hope of saving his father seems slim, he must still save him. Even though the woman his father yearns for is not his mother, the imperial consort, and even hates her utterly, he must still save him.

Even if it means sacrificing his own life.

At this moment, Gong Juechen thought exactly this.

But Su Haoyu was still struggling to drink.

It was his son’s blood, after all.

Seeing Su Haoyu still unwilling to drink, allowing the blood from Gong Juechen’s wrist to flow incessantly, dripping onto the bed until the stains on it were horrifying to look at, Su Chengyu began to plead, ”Father Emperor, please drink.”

Xiao Changyi also advised, ”If you drink a little, he won’t die. But if you keep refusing, he’ll lose too much blood, and then there’ll be no guarantee.”

Hearing this, Su Haoyu finally opened his mouth and drank two gulps of Gong Juechen’s blood. However, Gong Juechen was still dissatisfied, demanding Su Haoyu to drink more, clearly believing that it wasn’t enough.

So, Su Haoyu had no choice but to drink again.

After Su Haoyu had drunk enough to satisfy Gong Juechen, he finally stopped drinking. By then, Gong Juechen’s face had already turned pale from significant blood loss.

As soon as Su Haoyu drank to the amount that pleased him, Gong Juechen hurriedly tended to the wound on his wrist. Once bandaged, he immediately took to checking Su Haoyu’s condition again.

Everyone’s hearts were now on edge, hoping that Gong Juechen’s blood could counteract the poison afflicting Su Haoyu.

But after just a short while, they realized that Gong Juechen’s blood couldn’t neutralize Su Haoyu’s poison.

The poison in Su Haoyu’s body continued to spread. Not only had his lips turned black, but now even his face was starting to darken.

At this point, Gong Juechen was at his wit’s end, his lips tightly pursed, staring fixedly at Su Haoyu’s wound, which had turned entirely black.

Yet Su Haoyu only laughed, ”I’ve already said, my time has come.”

By now, An Jing and Xiao Changyi had learned that Su Haoyu had been injured by the assassin’s blade while trying to save Su Yi Jing.

An Jing blamed herself deeply, her eyes red as she said, ”Godfather, it’s all our fault for entrusting the children to you. If we hadn’t given the children into your care, none of this would have happened to you.”

Su Haoyu shook his head and said, ”Those people were targeting me. This has nothing to do with Jing’er and the others. If anything, I was the one who implicated them. Fortunately, apart from some fright, Jing’er and the others weren’t seriously harmed.”

Xiao Changyi said nothing; he merely tightened his grip on Su Haoyu’s hand.

Feeling the pressure from Xiao Changyi’s grip, Su Haoyu feebly lifted his other hand and gently patted the one Xiao Changyi was holding. His weathered face bore a weak smile, and though he didn’t speak, his actions made it clear that he was comforting Xiao Changyi, telling him not to blame himself, that none of this was his fault.

”Chengyu.” Suddenly, Su Haoyu called out faintly.

Su Chengyu immediately responded, choking back tears, ”Father Emperor.”

Su Haoyu weakly said, ”Father Emperor is about to die, but Father Emperor has a wish—please promise me you’ll fulfill it.”

Su Chengyu’s voice became even more tearful, ”What is Father Emperor’s wish? Just say it; your son will surely accomplish it!”

Only then did Su Haoyu speak, ”Promise Father Emperor that no matter what your seventh brother Chenglin does, you will never kill him.”

Upon hearing this, Gong Juechen’s throat abruptly tightened, a sharp pain flooding it. He wanted to speak, but he was so choked up that he couldn’t utter a word.

Su Haoyu continued, ”Promise me, Chengyu.”

Su Chengyu immediately replied, ”I promise.”
