Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 548: Chapter 372: Rescue!

Damn it, why did these mutant creatures start attacking just as the survivors arrived!

Could it be that they were attracted by these incoming survivors?

On the map, those red dots, those mutant creatures, are moving incredibly fast!

Their speed on the snowfield is comparable to the Silver King’s speed on land!

Easily reaching speeds of eighty to ninety kilometers per hour!

Is this the speed of snowfield mutant creatures on the snow surface!

However, these red dots are at least thirty kilometers away from him.

So, for the beast horde to reach here, it will still take around twenty minutes.

Luckily, with Keke and the map ability, he can be forewarned, and his preparation time is ample.

He looked towards the Hilly Resource Zone.

With enhanced vision, he surveyed the circle of hills in its entirety, and there was nothing unusual.

Although on the map, the red dots within the Hilly Resource Zone were very dense, there was no sign of any commotion.

This allowed him to breathe a sigh of slight relief.

After all, the mutant creatures over at the Hilly Resource Zone are the main concern. The density and number of red dots over there are probably much higher than those in the special area. If the mutant creatures over there go berserk, it would be much harder to deal with.

Of course, this doesn’t mean the special area is safer than the Hilly Resource Zone.

After all, the danger of the special area comes more from underground, and his map cannot show dangers underground.

At this particular time, with the danger zone no longer dangerous, who knows if that special area is accessible now?

Once the snow layer melts, he plans to have a look over there.

As for the Hilly Resource Zone...

If there is no riot this time, he plans to ask Wen Guixin for help to see if it can be cleared out a little.

But the danger over there is definitely not small, considering that during the winter beast horde, there were red light spots over there as bright as those of the giant anaconda!

There are super strong giant beasts over there as well! Perhaps it’s the Blood Pattern Giant, or maybe something else.

With their current strength, even Wen Guixin is completely unable to contend with them.

The map in his mind shifted, immediately transforming into the map Wen Guixin and Zhao Xiaochuan had mostly opened up.

”...As expected!”

Over there, there were also clusters of red dots moving rapidly towards Wen Guixin’s treehouse!

As for why, perhaps it’s because countless survivors are gathering at her treehouse, inciting the beast horde to launch an attack!

He immediately opened the [Explorer] channel.

Xu Xin: ”Be on alert immediately, there are approximately five hundred mutant creatures moving swiftly towards my treehouse from the northeast direction, as well as towards Wen Guixin’s treehouse from the northwest direction! We must ensure the safety of the survivors seeking refuge with us!”

This statement immediately alarmed everyone.

Ji Chaoyang: ”Are you sure the beast horde’s direction is towards the treehouses and not those two large arrays?”

Xu Xin: ”Not sure, but with my enhanced vision now, I can see that the distant survivors coming are being followed by many woolly monsters behind them! That beast horde is likely heading towards these survivors’ gathering points!”

Qin Yunlong: ”Is it only on your side? Yun Hu and I will head over immediately!”

Wen Guixin: ”Beast horde? Let them come, I’m not afraid of them!”

Wang Lei: ”No, no, no, this time our task is to protect the other survivors, right? Five hundred mutant creatures are way fewer than the last beast horde; it might not be a problem for us, but if they slaughter the incoming survivors...”

Xu Xin: ”Exactly, Wen Guixin, can you ensure your mental toxins won’t infect the survivors?”

Wen Guixin: ”As long as they don’t act foolishly and try to kill the mutant creatures I control, there won’t be a problem.”

Ji Chaoyang: ”That shouldn’t be much of an issue. Before they left, I told them to avoid fighting mutant creatures and to hide if they encounter beast hordes. They probably won’t seek out the beast horde recklessly.”

Li Wenxi: ”Do you need me? I’ll go back right now!”

Xu Xin: ”No, you don’t need to come. There are no beast hordes on your side; it’s temporarily very safe. Keep doing what you’re doing, we’ll handle things over here.”

Purple-level minerals and armor weapons are also important. Her coming over won’t be of much use; better to lead others in continuing to acquire mineral resources.

Li Wenxi: ”Alright then, good luck. I’ll try to gather enough materials today for you to make purple-level armor and weapons!”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”What about me, do you need me to do anything?”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Your ability lets you go unnoticed by the beast horde. Xu Xin, this beast horde, is probably controlled by those woolly monsters again, right?”

Xu Xin: ”That’s right, Zhao Xiaochuan, you’re responsible for infiltrating the beast horde and killing those woolly monsters that control the mutant creatures.”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Without their control, the beast horde won’t be as purposeful, and our survivors will be much safer.”

Xu Xin: ”Five hundred beasts is just the first wave of the beast horde. If we don’t eliminate the woolly monsters, the beast horde might be endless.”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”Then...which side should I help?”

Xu Xin: ”You assist Wen Guixin’s side first. Over here, Lou Fei’Er can do the same job. If your side finishes quickly, come over and help.”

Lou Fei’Er: ”Leave it to me here! I’m an expert at being an assassin!”

During the conversation, he had already equipped Silver King Mimi Afu on his wristband, ready to go out.

Keke kept leaning on the window sill, looking into the distance, and made a worried ”ngh...” sound. Seeing Xu Xin about to leave, Keke immediately climbed onto his shoulder.

Although they’re heading into battle, bringing Keke wouldn’t be an issue. This beast tide wasn’t particularly strong, and Keke could actually help him pinpoint the location of distressed survivors!

We must rescue them!

Otherwise, if many from the first group die in the beast tide, who would dare to come later!

These mutated creatures choosing this critical moment to unleash a beast tide was clearly intended to attack those survivors who haven’t yet settled in the refuge area!

They seem unwilling to witness survivors congregating and forming a large organization.

The last beast tide was similar; the more people gathered, the stronger the tide became.

Conversely, they wouldn’t even bother with a lone, lowly little treehouse.

Lou Fei’Er, with Axue, descended from the treehouse and followed closely behind Xu Xin.

”Are you sure you won’t be perceived as an enemy by the mutated creatures?” Xu Xin asked.

”I’m sure. The task of finding and killing the Fur Monster is something I can roughly sense their location, leave it to me.” Lou Fei’Er nodded.

It’s definitely reassuring to leave this matter to Lou Fei’Er.

”Then go ahead now, try to bring back a complete Fur Monster corpse.”

”Alright, I’m heading out!”

Lou Fei’Er rode Axue and charged towards the northeast, disappearing from view within seconds.

Xu Xin then sent a voice call to Ma Hongwei, who had been conducting research in the treehouse.

It was immediately answered: ”What’s up, Brother Xin? Do you need me to help receive someone?”

Since he was crushed to death by the giant anaconda last time, he has been obsessively researching a new heavy crossbow, hoping to rely on it to kill giant beasts.

Simultaneously, his personality has changed somewhat, becoming a bit taciturn, and he barely interacts with anyone besides Xu Xin.

Xu Xin previously mentioned wanting to recruit him into the explorers, but he declined.

He said being responsible to Xu Xin was enough, and he would do whatever Xu Xin assigned, so Xu Xin didn’t press further.

However, while immersing himself in research, he learned during breaks from the regional channel that many people from the same area are now flocking to the explorers.

”Yeah, I now need to bring all the survivors who have gathered at our treehouse back to yours for temporary protection! There’s an imminent beast tide attack, and Lou Fei’Er and I need to rescue them; I can only entrust this to you.”

Initially, he intended to entrust this task to Lou Fei’Er, but since Lou Fei’Er was off to assassinate the Fur Monster, it had to be left to the somewhat reclusive Ma Hongwei.

”...Alright! Leave it to me!”

Ma Hongwei, being bound by a contract with him, wouldn’t reject helping Xu Xin.

Just then, the portal fluctuated, and Ji Chaoyang and Qi Xuefei jumped out of it.

...Why did these two come together?

But this isn’t important.

”Sister Xuefei, don’t join the fight. Stay here with Ma Hongwei and protect the survivors who’ve arrived. If anyone is injured, help treat them.”

Xu Xin didn’t wait for them to speak and directly instructed.

Qi Xuefei was stunned, then smiled: ”You and Ji Chaoyang always have remarkably similar thoughts.”

Ji Chaoyang nodded: ”I just told her the same.”

Xu Xin didn’t waste words: ”The beast group is now split into two waves, one going north, the other east. You go north, I’ll head east. We’ll split up to save more survivors.”

The eastern beast group, although not yet close to Xu Xin’s treehouse, was already showing signs of encirclement several kilometers away.

They likely had already surrounded the survivors, preparing for an attack!

”Two waves?” Ji Chaoyang furrowed his brow, ”Is the situation similar on Wen Guixin’s side as well?”

Almost forgot about that side.

He immediately checked the map for Wen Guixin’s area.

Indeed, Wen Guixin and Wang Lei’s beast group was likewise split into two paths, showing signs of encircling, readying for a battle.

He promptly notified the explorers, informing them of the beast group’s direction and position.

Meanwhile, a few nearby explorers glided to the treehouse’s edge, seeing several people gathered.

”Finally arrived, this is the closest treehouse to the light beam! It’s definitely Xu Xin’s legendary treehouse!” The small, thin man looked red-faced with excitement.

”This treehouse... it’s enormous! No wonder Ji Chaoyang said you could see it from afar within the grand formation...” The short-haired woman was astonished, staring at Xu Xin’s expansive four-story treehouse, extended by banyan trees, ”I thought I was being ridiculous with my imagination, but it’s even more exaggerated... This is what you call a legend?”

”What’s there to be surprised about? Can’t you be as calm as I am?” The tall, slim man was most composed, ”I was prepared not to be surprised by anything before coming. After all, it’s Xu Xin’s treehouse. I’d be fine even if it’s a hundred times bigger than mine.”

He looked towards Xu Xin and the others, sliding closer, greeting, ”Hey, guys, are you here to join the explorers too? Why are you standing here? Oh, I get it; the legends are surely busy, so let’s wait here then. By the way, your equipment looks so cool, what gear is it?”
