Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 509: Chapter 351: Return to the Giant Pit, Bombing the Statue Cluster!_2

Quickly, the group reached the edge of the giant pit.

Seeing the beast statues prostrate on the ground in worship inside the pit and the terrifying pterosaur statues in the center along with the towering purple light pillar they were worshiping, Li Wenxi and Qi Xuefei were genuinely shocked.

”Are there really so many?” Li Wenxi murmured. ”If they all come alive together, how can we resolve this? We can’t use the treehouse weapons here. Can we lure them to the treehouse?”

Xu Xin had considered Li Wenxi’s idea but had also dismissed it.

Once Xu Xin jumped out of the pit, the statues lost their attack target and returned to their positions.

They seemed to only attack survivors within the giant pit and couldn’t crawl out, unable to be lured out.

But, if they truly can’t come out, then could explosives crossbow bolts be directly used to bombard them?

However, the loud noise from explosive crossbow bolts — would it awaken those two pterosaur statues in the center?

Xu Xin wasn’t too worried about the surrounding circles of statues; even if all of them came to life, the most they could reach would be mid-level mutant creature strength, only those two pterosaur statues in the center made him somewhat concerned.

”Ying...” Keke had already seen these statues. At this moment, it did not react to these inactive statues and continued to lie obediently on Xu Xin’s shoulder.

Forget it, you can’t worry about everything, we’ll take it one step at a time.

Xu Xin rotated his bracelet, releasing Mimi Silver King and Afu.

Once released, the beasts showed no hostility towards the statues in the pit, instead, they lay on the edge curiously peering inside.

The little boy statue was also released by Xu Xin, sitting on the ground without any signs of movement.

Ji Chaoyang had already pulled out the crossbow.

”Really use explosive crossbow bolts?” Xu Xin glanced at him asking, ”Ordinary crossbow bolts have no effect.”

The ordinary crossbow bolts shot by Ji Chaoyang earlier were still stuck in the eyes of several statues.

”Let’s use them.” Ji Chaoyang immediately loaded an explosive bolt, ”From what we see, as long as we don’t enter this giant pit, these statues won’t awaken. Let’s test if we can destroy some statues without stepping into the pit.”

Indeed, the pit is five meters deep; the only way to damage these statues from outside the pit is with explosive crossbow bolts.

Xu Xin nodded, pulling back the two beasts from the edge.

If not pulled back, they might jump in to closely observe the statues inside.

The five of them took out their crossbows and loaded them.

”First attempt to attack the outermost statues, they’re the weakest.” Holding his crossbow, Xu Xin aimed at the outermost statue.

”Three, two, one, fire!”

”Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!”

Five explosive bolts were fired simultaneously, hitting different beast statues!

Instantly, smoke filled the giant pit!

As the smoke quickly cleared, illuminated by moonlight, they saw five statues blasted to pieces!

Some statues had their heads blown off, while others had a hole blasted in them, and some were blown apart!

Suddenly, the shattered statues made cracking noises.

Urgently, in front of the group, the cracks spread finely on the statues, and then with a ”crack,” they crumbled into stone powder, scattering on the ground.

”Explosive crossbow bolts are effective!” Li Wenxi exclaimed in delight.

”...The stone is so fragile; explosive crossbow bolts can’t even penetrate the walls of an ordinary treehouse, yet they can shatter the statues with one shot.” Lou Fei’Er didn’t expect them to be so effective.

Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang did not continue shooting.

Both of them looked towards the other statues.

The other statues, including the two circles of mutant creatures and those two pterosaur statues in the center, showed no movement.

Destroying the ordinary beast statues at the outermost circle with explosive crossbow bolts didn’t awaken the other statues!

Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang exchanged glances, seeing the faint delight in each other’s eyes.

Not being awakened makes things much easier!

”Continue to shatter the outermost circle of ordinary beast statues using explosive crossbow bolts!” Xu Xin immediately said.

”Just blast the outermost ones first, don’t attack the inner statues.” Ji Chaoyang added.

They still didn’t know if attacking the inner circle of mutant creatures would awaken the statues, so they decided to destroy the outermost statues first!

”Alright.”

”Got it!”

”Yes, master.”

The five people immediately scattered, beginning a relentless bombardment of the outer statues!

”Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!”

The sound of explosions echoed crazily in the pit, causing the ground to tremble.

”Ying...” Keke lay on Xu Xin’s shoulder, covering its ears with its little paws.

With each explosion, its big tail slightly shivered, letting out faint cries.

Mimi and Silver King were fine, but Afu had already flown far, hanging on a barren branch dozens of meters away.

During the previous beast tide, explosive crossbow bolts were fired wildly, exploding only a hundred meters away. This time, the explosions happened up close. The loud, continuous noise was too much for it to bear.

Five minutes later, the rumbling stopped.

The outermost circle in the pit had no ordinary beast statues left.

They had all turned into stone powder scattered on the ground.

Smoke filled the pit.

The ground was blackened by the explosions, even cracking in some places.

The five regrouped.

”That was satisfying!” Li Wenxi massaged her somewhat tired hand and arm.

Each shot requires reloading, and continuous shooting is indeed exhausting.

”One shot and a statue is shattered!” Lou Fei’Er was also excited.

Despite not seeing any blood, similar acts of slaughter involuntarily excited her as a mid-level mutant creature.

Qi Xuefei said nothing, gently massaging her own arm.

Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang did not rest.

Both raised their crossbows, aiming at the statues of the circle of low-level mutant creatures, and pulled the triggers!

”Boom, boom!”

Explosive bolts exploded on the statues of the low-level mutant creatures.

As the smoke dispersed, the statues of low-level mutant creatures didn’t shatter.

Their damage level was significantly less than the ordinary beast statues, yet they still had cracks.

It was clear they were still effective.

Xu Xin quickly reloaded another shot, pulling the trigger again.

”Boom!”

Now, after being hit by two explosive bolts, the beast statue shattered under everyone’s gaze, turning into stone powder.

The statue of a low-level mutant creature could withstand two explosive bolts but still be blown apart!

All five brightened up.

It appeared that the second circle of statues could still be handled with explosive crossbow bolts!

The same method could be continued!

”Ying!” Keke suddenly lifted its small head from Xu Xin’s shoulder, ”Ying ying!”

Xu Xin immediately became alert.

This was a call of danger!

”Something’s happening!” Xu Xin immediately stopped others from dispersing and attacking the second circle of statues, cautiously watching the statues within the giant pit.

”Oh?” Ji Chaoyang frowned.

”What’s wrong? Aren’t these statues not... Ah! They’ve come to life!”

Li Wenxi widened her almond eyes, stepping half a pace back, her crossbow, already loaded, immediately pointed at the giant pit.

Within the pit, the statues of low-level mutant creatures in the second circle slowly climbed from their prostrate positions on the ground, turning to face Xu Xin’s group.

From those stone eyes, a terrifying red glow shone, forming a complete circle of red eyes around the pit; near and far, it was hair-raising!

”They’ve truly awakened!” Qi Xuefei also grasped her crossbow tightly, observing the statue horde within the pit. ”Thankfully, no other statues have awakened.”

Only the second circle statues, which had now become the outermost circle of low-level mutant creature statues, showed movement.

”Ying ying ying!” Keke’s cries became more urgent.

Silver King bared its teeth, Mimi arched its back, all entering combat stances, even Afu flew back.

Lou Fei’Er looked concerned: ”These statues, are they going to...”

Suddenly, all the statues of low-level mutant creatures began to move fiercely!

They let out roars much larger than those of ordinary beasts, rushing madly towards the direction of the five people!

The ground shook as if an earthquake were occurring!
