Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 510: Chapter 252: Fierce Battle with the Mutated Statue Group!

The low-level mutant statues of the second ring all began to move, standing and turning, with red light flashing in their eyes.

They resembled a horde of frenzied devotees whose deities had been desecrated, letting out roars that didn’t sound like normal beasts, and charged towards Xu Xin and the others!

Their bodies were incredibly heavy, causing the entire ground to tremble violently as they moved, making everyone feel as though an earthquake was happening beneath their feet!

Yet, their movements were astonishingly agile!

If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, everyone would have found it unimaginable that a bunch of statues could move with the agility of ordinary beasts, or even more agile!

The nearest group of low-level mutant statues was less than twenty meters away, a very short distance.

So, even before they could recover from their shock, the statues had already maneuvered their massive bodies, rushing to the edge of the giant pit!

At the same time, other, more distant low-level mutant statues also gathered towards them like a tidal wave.

Fortunately, the giant pit was five meters high, and the mutant statues that reached the edge couldn’t directly reach the five of them.

”What should we do, should we attack? Use explosive bolts?” Li Wenxi held the crossbow, already aiming at the mutant statues below, ”They’re about to climb up!”

Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang hadn’t taken action yet because they wanted to see if these low-level mutant statues could climb out of the giant pit.

As it turned out, they could!

Some statues that could climb had already started rapidly scaling the pit walls!

Fortunately, their target was just the five of them, so the statues in the pit didn’t climb up from all directions but focused on the area directly in front of the five, only climbing from there.

This made things much simpler!

”You guys shoot explosive bolts from behind; I’ll handle those that climb up!” Xu Xin immediately pulled out a long halberd and charged to the edge of the pit.

The halberd’s metallic blade, under the purple-black light of the giant pillar, even emitted a sinister aura.

Mimi Silver King and Afu also followed Xu Xin to the edge of the pit.

Keke, knowing its combat ability was lacking, jumped from Xu Xin’s shoulder to Li Wenxi’s.

”Ooh...” It looked worriedly at Xu Xin, who was at the forefront.

”Don’t worry, Keke, he’s very strong,” Li Wenxi was very confident in Xu Xin.

As she spoke, she pulled the trigger in her hand.

The four behind began a frantic shooting spree, bombing the dense group of statues at the bottom of the pit!

”Boom boom boom! Boom boom!”

Explosions continuously erupted among the statues, with countless stone fragments flying amidst the flames and smoke, accompanied by a mix of low hoarse and high sharp roars, creating a complex cacophony in their ears that instantly became chaotic and frenzied!

Xu Xin was somewhat glad that he hadn’t chosen a hearing enhancement today, otherwise his head might not have been able to withstand it.

”Don’t get too far away!” Seeing the girls tending to separate again, Ji Chaoyang shouted amid the thunder and roars, ”Stay within five meters of Xu Xin! Otherwise, the statues below will scatter, changing their climbing positions!”

Meanwhile, the first batch of climbing mutant statues had already scaled the walls!

Before Xu Xin could swing his halberd, Mimi took the lead, slashing a protruding head with one swipe!

”Crack!”

The entire head of the statue was instantly sliced off by a small half.

Yet the statue didn’t stop, instead, it climbed up in a few swift movements!

Along with it, three other statues climbed up simultaneously.

This first batch of climbers were all feline mutant statues adept at scaling heights!

The booming explosive bolts from behind didn’t affect them at all; their only apparent goal was to kill Xu Xin and his group!

Xu Xin swung his halberd directly at them!

”Crack!”

The halberd cleanly decapitated a large mutant wildcat.

But to his shock, both the statue previously slashed by Mimi and this headless one still continued to control their headless bodies, rising to attack him!

These statues, even without heads, could still move!

Of course, without heads, the statues seemed unable to maintain their balance very well, and their movements became somewhat disordered.

Yet they could still locate Xu Xin, as if their vision was unaffected.

Xu Xin immediately slashed again, and the charging statue was cut in half!

A faint life force flowed into his body through the halberd’s shaft.

The life force of these statues was exceedingly weak!

Clearly, what allowed them to move wasn’t this strange life force!

Perhaps someone was truly controlling them from behind!

The statue cut in half still struggled on the ground.

Though not turned into stone powder, they no longer posed any threat.

Xu Xin no longer paid attention to the broken remains on the ground, continually swinging his halberd to cut the mutant statues climbing from the pit in half one by one, incapacitating them instantly!
