Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 511: Chapter 252 Intense Battle with the Mutated Statue Group! _2

Mimi frantically swung her claws, while the Silver King was also crushing the heads of one stone statue after another, then shoveled their headless bodies off the edge of the giant pit, smashing several climbing statues each time.

Afu had already been taken back by Xu Xin; it simply couldn’t handle the overwhelming noise here.

Moreover, its spiritual power attacks were practically ineffective against these stone statues since they didn’t rely on brains to move at all!

”Boom boom boom! Boom boom!”

The four people behind continued firing their crossbows, the deafening explosions still madly ringing within the giant pit.

But alas, now all the stone statues in the giant pit assembled, reaching the peak of their attack, thus more and more mutated stone statues charged through the gunfire.

These statues also grew smarter, no longer clustering together to climb only from Xu Xin’s position but spread out slightly.

Originally, the edge of the giant pit, only about five meters wide, had statues climbing up, which Xu Xin alone could guard, but now the boundary stretches twenty meters or more, all constantly climbing stone statues!

There was no choice; Xu Xin, Mimi, and the Silver King had to spread out a bit to guard different positions, or they wouldn’t be able to stop them from climbing!

”Xu Xin can’t hold on!” Li Wenxi kept bombarding the stone statue horde in the pit, shouting worriedly.

Amongst the roars and explosions, one had to speak loudly to be heard.

Given the dense grouping of stone statues in the pit, an exploding crossbow bolt could affect at least three or four statues, unleashing the crossbow bolts’ maximum power; she already shattered so many statues!

But she dared not attack the statues around Xu Xin, fearing the explosion might affect him.

Moreover, although many statues have climbed up, compared to below, they are still much sparser; only by attacking the statue horde in the pit can the exploding crossbow bolts deliver the greatest lethality!

The statues climbing up increased, noticeably making it harder for Xu Xin to cover everything; although he personally might not have issues, soon the statue horde might break through the defense line!

”I’m going to help him!” Lou Fei’Er quickly put away her crossbow, drew her purple-grade dagger, and dashed forward swiftly!

Her dagger viciously stabbed into the head of a mutated black bear statue trying to attack Xu Xin from the side!

The black bear statue remained unaffected, the purple-grade dagger lodged in its head, swatting at her with a paw!

Lou Fei’Er’s pupils narrowed; she pressed her feet against the stone body of the black bear statue, withdrew the dagger, and agilely backflipped, narrowly dodging the attack.

Her purple-grade dagger’s trait was to cause unhealable wounds, resulting in continuous bleeding for her foes, but such effects were useless against these stone statues.

”Don’t aim for the head!” Xu Xin swung his long halberd, slicing through a statue once more.

Beside him lay many cleaved statues, a small half of which had turned into dust after being chopped.

His brain was now frantically calculating.

Those statues shattered by exploding crossbow bolts all turned to dust, while only a small portion of the statues he cut through turned to dust; most were roughly chopped into two and rendered immobile.

Lou Fei’Er lacked the ability to chop them into two.

He just noticed those statues turned to dust were primarily sliced through near the chest.

”They have a weak point, probably near the chest, where a normal beast’s heart would be!” Xu Xin shouted.

Ji Chaoyang heard Xu Xin’s words, slightly widened his eyes, and immediately reached for another crossbow from his backpack, armed with an ordinary bolt.

He pulled the trigger right away!

”Swish—clack!”

The bolt accurately hit the chest of a black bear statue that was just standing up, embedding halfway through.

His crossbow was actually purple-grade; even with an ordinary bolt, the damage was massive!

The statue immediately ceased moving and collapsed heavily onto the ground.

In an instant, the statue shattered into a pile of stone dust!

”It really is the chest!” Xu Xin’s eyes brightened, stabbing forward with the halberd, striking a leopard statue’s jaw, not holding back, stabbing through half of its face into the chest!

The leopard statue’s movement halted, then it shattered on the ground.

Ji Chaoyang fired two more bolts, hitting the chests of two black bear statues attacking.

The bolts mostly hit the chest area but had slight positional differences, one hitting more left, the other right.

The two statues struck by Ji Chaoyang’s bolts ceased moving instantly, their stone bodies crashing forward due to inertia, raising dust and crumbling into stone dust themselves.

”The weak point is the chest!” Ji Chaoyang immediately confirmed, ”The weak spot at the chest isn’t small; it doesn’t need precision; once destroyed, the statue crumbles!”

”Should we all aim for the chest?” Qi Xuefei kept firing exploding bolts, glancing sideways at Ji Chaoyang, ”My hit rate isn’t very high!”

”You don’t need to; a beast’s chest isn’t easy to hit, only bears expose their chests when attacking!” Ji Chaoyang shouted, ”Keep using exploding bolts! Bombard the bottom for maximum effect!”

”Okay!”

”The weak spot is the chest, understand?” Xu Xin swung his halberd, slicing up a rabbit statue about one meter in size without turning back, speaking to Lou Fei’Er beside him.

”Got it really well!”

Lou Fei’Er darted away instantly.

Her agile figure wove through the stone statue horde, ducking below them like a fish swimming through water.

Passing each statue, she adroitly evaded their attacks, rapidly stabbing and withdrawing her dagger at their chest, continuing to maneuver through the horde.

Wherever she went, statues crashed stiffly to the ground, crumbling into dust!

”Fei’Er is strong!” Li Wenxi exclaimed in cheer, continuing her relentless bombardment on the stone statue horde below.

”Yay!” Keke waved its little paws on Li Wenxi’s shoulder.

”Haha, of course!” Lou Fei’Er also became excited from the slaughter, her movements growing faster!

Xu Xin glanced at her in amazed surprise, sidestepping a wolf statue’s leap, swinging his halberd to cut two statues in succession, all turning to dust.

Mimi and Silver King continued their wild attacks on the climbing entities, also aiming for the chest after hearing Ji Chaoyang’s earlier mention.

Thus, with Xu Xin, Lou Fei’Er, Mimi, and Silver King defending above, and Ji Chaoyang, Li Wenxi, and Qi Xuefei furiously bombarding the pit below, the situation finally stabilized.

The number of lower-tier mutated stone statues dwindled under their assault, leaving less than half remaining.

Ultimately, with the last explosion echoing, the final active statue was finally cleared away.

The surroundings quieted, leaving only the gasps of the group remaining.
