Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 534: Chapter 364: A Tree Grew on the Giant’s Toe

At this time, it was already close to eight o’clock in the morning, but the sky remained dark, and the stars could still be seen.

If it were a few days ago, or even yesterday, by this time, at least half of the sky would have brightened.

One must understand, night is much colder than day, and the coldest time of the day is just before sunrise, which is now.

Of course, even in this coldest moment, the temperature in their Area 188 hasn’t dropped below zero degrees, thanks to the benefits brought by two rewards.

But the other areas aren’t so lucky. With the night extending so much, the time people in other areas can engage their activities is gradually being compressed.

The four of them glided on power snowboards, advancing toward Qin Yunlong’s tree house.

In the jungle, there’s still three meters of deep snow, and after a day’s and night’s accumulation, the snow layer has firmed up a lot.

”Look at the world channel, the snow layer in other areas has reached four meters in depth...” As Zhao Xiaochuan rode his snowboard avoiding the trees in the jungle, he navigated through his smartwatch and glanced at the world channel.

Qin Yunlong glanced at him: ”Using a snowboard while looking at your watch, be careful not to hit a tree.”

”No worries, I’ve been doing this all along, it’s not a big deal.” Zhao Xiaochuan continued raising his left hand with the watch, maneuvering the projection with his right hand whilst skillfully dodging the tree trunks with agile movements on the snowboard.

”It’s said that in areas outside, the snow layer is already higher than the windows of small, low tree houses. However, it’s fortunate that the temperature near the tree house is high, so every day the snow layer melts a bit, with the part near the tree house being much lower and not enough to bury it.”

Qin Yunlong asked, ”Now, in other areas without snow fox scarves, people can only go out for activities during those two or three hours at noon right?”

”Mm...” Zhao Xiaochuan continued moving the projection, ”Indeed, but they can still engage in activities around the tree house. The area about ten meters around the tree house barely maintains temperatures above zero.”

In this cold winter, the tree house remains the sole reliance for most survivors.

”Oink...” Keke climbed down from Xu Xin’s shoulder and burrowed into his arms.

At the current coldest moment of the day, the little creature could endure the temperature, but it’s certainly not comfortable, so it directly snuggled into Xu Xin’s arms for warmth.

Stroking Keke in his arms, Xu Xin felt somewhat troubled for the people in outside areas.

If this harsh winter continues, daylight would further shorten.

Then, when the sunrise duration becomes too short to allow daytime temperatures to rise above 15°C, they would even lose the two to three hours of activity time at noon.

By then, they can only stay within the tree house, watching helplessly as it becomes buried by the snow layer.

The thought is quite despairing.

”That there is my tree house.” Qin Yunlong pointed far ahead where a large snowball with a slight hint of green peeking out amid the white snow fields, not conspicuous unless one looks carefully, ”Not too far. And there...”

He pointed in the diagonal direction, seven to eight kilometers away, at a hill approximately sixty to seventy meters high: ”There, is the hill where we met Wen Guixin for the first time, the one with a crooked-neck tree upon it.”

Hill...

Wait a minute.

”I remember you once said, this hill looks like...a foot, right?” Xu Xin avoided a tree trunk with his snowboard while keeping his eyes fixed on the hill.

”Exactly, that’s the hill. From this angle, you can see it too, right?” Qin Yunlong pointed at the peak of the hill, ”Look, doesn’t the peak look like toes?”

Indeed.

Although covered by snow, the peaks like toes were still visible.

”It really is!” Zhao Xiaochuan was somewhat amazed, ”Although you mentioned it earlier, I never noticed it!”

This mountain’s position was between Qin Yunlong and Wen Guixin’s tree house, Zhao Xiaochuan hadn’t visited here before the onset of winter, so naturally, he wouldn’t spot it.

After the winter arrived, Zhao Xiaochuan did come here a few times, but the hill was covered with thick snow, so now its general shape is not discernible.

With careful observation, subtracting the snow layers in his mind, Xu Xin was able to imagine the shape of the mountain.

It’s like a person’s foot lying down, forefoot facing forward, toes upward, heel grounded.

And right now, they were on the side of this foot.

This must be another part of the giant’s body!

Calculating this way, adding the giant’s arm near Ji Chaoyang’s Tree House, in Area 188 within the territory, at least three parts of the giant’s body have been discovered.

According to the giant’s previous messages, its body was divided into twelve parts; now, a quarter of them have been found in Area 188’s territory.

Area 188 surely is unique.

As the hill was right between Qin Yunlong and Wen Guixin’s tree house, they passed by and skated toward the mountain to take a closer look.

Standing closer, the hill’s shape was not so noticeable, but the toes were more clearly visible.

He also saw a crooked-neck tree partially buried under the snow atop the hill.

The position of the tree seemed as if it grew from the gap between the toenails.

How strange...

”Oink!” Suddenly, Keke who was nestled in Xu Xin’s arms let out a cry and jumped out.
