Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 531: Chapter 362: Not an Ordinary Egg!_2

Silver King and Mimi were lying by the fireplace. Upon seeing Xu Xin, Silver King let out a ”howl,” while Mimi merely lifted its eyes.

The somewhat broken egg remained quietly standing by the furnace, showing no sign of hatching.

Keke was currently lying beside the egg, staring at it. Her tiny paw reached out as if wanting to touch it but then withdrew for fear of breaking it.

Seeing Xu Xin, she turned her head and protested with a ”whimper!”

It seemed to complain about being thrown out of the bedroom by Xu Xin.

Xu Xin scratched Keke’s chin, then looked at the broken egg.

Without the augmentation in hearing, Xu Xin could no longer hear the small life breathing inside the egg, which made him a bit anxious.

Is it dead?

The egg was fractured with dense cracks; what if it really couldn’t hatch?

For some reason, Xu Xin always felt that the creature inside this egg must be extremely powerful.

He absolutely had to hatch it.

But, how could he make it hatch...

Oh right!

Previously on the snowy mountain, it was his energy core fragment that awakened the egg, making it emit sound and drawing his attention!

Xu Xin immediately took out the energy core fragment from his backpack.

Perhaps because this was only a very small portion of the giant’s power, the energy core fragment’s ability was not as strong as Xu Xin had imagined.

During the previous beast tide, it hadn’t directly killed those manipulated mutant creatures but played more of an intimidating role.

The moment it was taken out, the light from the energy core fragment illuminated the entire interior of the treehouse.

Then, to Xu Xin’s slight surprise, the egg finally reacted again!

However, it was not that the creature inside broke out of the egg but...

The cracks on the egg were actually slowly... healing!

And they emitted a ”crack... crack...” sound.

This sound was all too familiar to him.

Wasn’t this the sound he heard back on the snowy mountain?

It wasn’t the sound of the egg shattering but rather the sound of the cracks healing due to the energy core fragment’s influence.

The temperature inside the treehouse was quite normal, so the energy core fragment did not need to consume much energy to maintain the surrounding temperature, and Xu Xin didn’t need to worry about it running out of energy too quickly.

Just then, Li Wenxi walked out of the bathroom, her hair still a bit damp: ”Hmm... I miss the hairdryer... What are you doing?”

She walked over.

”This... reverse hatching?” she exclaimed, eyes wide, as she watched the egg gradually heal.

Xu Xin noticed that the glowing white light around them dimmed significantly.

The energy in the core seemed to be snatched a lot by this egg!

Wow, this egg could actually drain the giant’s core energy!

He had just said not to worry about it depleting too fast, and it dimmed right away!

Sure enough, this egg is not an ordinary egg!

Ultimately, the egg became smooth, without a hint of a crack on its surface.

The eggshell had indeed been completely repaired!

Xu Xin saw that the energy core fragment was no longer effective, and the white light had weakened considerably, so he quickly put it away.

This thing is indeed very useful.

”Eh? Xu Xin, it just seemed to move a bit!” Li Wenxi squatted down, intending to poke the egg with her hand.

Then, to the astonishment of Xu Xin and Li Wenxi, the egg...

Actually jumped on its own?!

The leap neatly avoided Li Wenxi’s poke.

”Whimper?!”

”Howl?”

Keke and Silver King stood up in shock, staring at the egg which suddenly moved on its own. Even Mimi turned its gaze.

”The egg is alive!” Li Wenxi exclaimed.

Unconvinced, she tried to reach out and touch the egg, but it jumped aside, evading her again.

Xu Xin was also stunned.

What exactly was inside? It’s still an egg and it can already move.

What would happen if it hatched?

Indeed, the creature inside the egg was absolutely extraordinary!

Perhaps this wasn’t at all the bald eagle egg he had imagined before.

At that moment, Keke extended her paw, reaching for the giant egg, which was slightly bigger than her entire body.

But the giant egg rolled aside, avoiding capture.

”Whimper!” Keke immediately attacked again, only to be evaded once more by a roll.

Thus, Keke and the egg began a game of chase around the treehouse.

Xu Xin and Li Wenxi exchanged glances.

This scene was truly bizarre.

A little panda was chasing an egg bigger than itself, whimpering all the while.

Keke was having a great time, finally getting the ball-shaped toy she always wanted, no longer having to play with skulls.

Even though this ball-shaped toy was rather oval, larger than her, and could move on its own...

”Bang!” The giant egg, pursued by Keke, couldn’t dodge in time and slammed hard into the table leg.

It rolled lazily and was pinned down by the pouncing Keke.

”Whimper!” Keke let out a victorious cry, patting the eggshell with her little paw.

The impact nearly toppled the entire table, but the giant egg remained unscathed, still smooth and shiny.

Instead, the blue-tier wooden table’s leg became somewhat deformed from the collision...

The egg was incredibly hard after the cracks were mended!

If Xu Xin’s head had been struck instead, it might not have remained intact...

The giant egg struggled free and prepared to escape again.

”No wrecking the place!” Xu Xin immediately admonished, asking Keke and the egg to calm down a bit.

The giant egg seemed to listen to Xu Xin, stopping in its tracks immediately.

Keke climbed atop the giant egg, lying there, its big tail swaying about as the egg gently rocked like a wobbling toy.

It looked quite harmonious.

”This is... so interesting!” Li Wenxi’s eyes sparkled. ”This egg can roll and jump on its own and even interact with Keke!”

This egg is just a bit too bizarre...

Could there really be such a type of egg?

It’s akin to the feeling of a cocoon.

Luckily, he hadn’t cracked the shell to pull out the little creature inside.

Xu Xin shook his head; oh well, just leave it for now.

Although extremely bizarre, it’s still just an egg and not very useful.

They could only wait patiently for it to hatch.

There were still many things to do today.

”Fei’Er texted me, let’s go find Fei’Er for breakfast!”

After taking one last glance at the egg, Li Wenxi dragged Xu Xin out of the treehouse, with Keke following them, as the egg returned to the fireplace to warm up.

Upon arriving at Lou Fei’Er’s treehouse, breakfast was already laid out on the table.

The two girls ate breakfast while teasing Keke and chatting, while Xu Xin checked the regional channel.

Despite being only around seven o’clock, with the outside still dark, the regional channel was already bustling with activity.

At least a hundred people decided to set out today towards the direction of the light pillar.

Everyone was full of eager anticipation.

”Why hasn’t the sun risen yet?”

”Seriously, it’s so frustrating; the daytime is getting shorter.”

”Why don’t we just go? I still have blue-grade red berries in hand, so there’s not much difference between day and night.”

”What’s the rush? Didn’t the seniors say they’d distribute equipment today?”

”Hey, seniors, are you awake? Are we still getting the equipment? Honestly, even without it, it’s no big deal for me. I’m less than a hundred kilometers away, so it doesn’t really matter whether or not I have the equipment.”

Regarding the equipment issue, Xu Xin had always been considering it, which is why he had been rather ambiguous.
