Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 291: Chapter 251: Finally Out of the Hills!

This statement carries massive information, causing both Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang to fall into contemplation.

Xu Xin thought of many things.

If this message is correct, then a lot can actually be well explained.

Firstly, the animals in this world are much larger than those on Earth, probably because the giant’s blood mixed into the seas, rivers, and lakes, affecting the entire world’s animals, making them overall larger!

Lake Giant Python, Creek Bottom Giant Crocodile, Blood Pattern Giant, Giant Pangolin...

They are likely the giant beasts that survived that catastrophe fifty years ago!

Then there are the giant monsters in the underground world.

They are all incredibly huge, with their entire bodies covered in blood patterns, terrifying to look at even from thousands of meters above.

But these fearsome monsters, for some reason, are trapped deep underground, engaged in mutual slaughter.

Now it seems, these monsters might be the first batch of mutated creatures after this world was invaded, simultaneously possessing the Power of Blood Patterns and the giant beast bloodlines, as mentioned in the message just now!

It may be just as the giant speculated, these monsters were originally thugs of the ”Blood Pattern Race.” After the giant beast bloodlines awakened, they gained their original consciousness, no longer under the control of the Blood Pattern Race.

Thus, they were sent into this underground world, never to see the light of day again, forced to kill and hunt one another to survive!

And the long corridor through which he entered the underground world, as well as that iron room, might have been used for suppressing and regulating the underground world.

As for the skeleton inside, dead for a long time, still holding items from Earth, Xu Xin couldn’t figure out the situation. However, that person carved a series of words on the wall.

He didn’t have time to document it last time, and the situation was rather urgent, so Xu Xin decided to record that string of text next time he goes there and let other survivors see it. Maybe someone will understand Greek.

Xu Xin turned to look at the Silver King standing beside him.

”Awoo?” Seeing Xu Xin’s complex expression, the Silver King called out in confusion.

Silver King, perhaps also possesses a relatively strong giant beast bloodline.

Initially, Changyin told him that after using mutant potions, the individuals among the same species that grow larger than their peers are likely to retain their will, instead of becoming mere tool beasts that follow orders.

And this ”larger than their peers” situation should be a sign of a more concentrated giant beast bloodline.

Creatures with a richer giant beast bloodline don’t lose themselves to the power of blood patterns!

The Silver King, as well as Mimi, should be such creatures, hence possessing consciousness.

Lover also has a giant beast bloodline; it found its own way relying on its will, different from tool beasts that only follow orders from the start. Among the pangolins, apart from the Giant Pangolin, Lover was the largest, possessing some giant beast bloodlines, which is quite normal.

As for those two little ones, they don’t have blood patterns, only giant beast bloodlines.

Following this deduction, perhaps, the power of blood patterns can’t be inherited, requiring subsequent mutation through Red Mist or other forces, while giant beast bloodlines can be passed to the next generation.

The world-ending catastrophe happened fifty years ago, yet animals with giant beast bloodlines are still seen everywhere probably because of this reason. Yet, continued inheritance might dilute the concentration of giant beast bloodlines, so most animals are only slightly larger than before.

Among these animals, a few with densely concentrated giant beast bloodlines would be much larger than ordinary beasts, like the Silver King, Mimi, and Lover!

When selecting Afu, he also picked the largest one casually.

However, Afu initially seemed to lack its own will, probably because the bloodline wasn’t too concentrated; its consciousness suddenly awoke later. So did Li Wenxi’s Aniu, suddenly gaining consciousness.

As for the reason, he is unclear.

Xu Xin sighed deeply.

He finally basically understands the situation of these contract beasts around him!

Except for Keke, that little one, which has no blood patterns and doesn’t grow large, remaining mysterious, he’s now generally aware of the condition of the other beasts.

Since giant beast bloodlines allow blood pattern mutant beasts not to lose themselves, he feels relieved, as the likelihood of Silver King and others being controlled is greatly reduced.

However, despite Silver King and others not losing themselves, they are still somewhat influenced by blood patterns in terms of their mentality.

For instance, after the Silver King and Mimi upgrade to intermediate mutant beasts, they become more obsessed with combat and bloodshed. When injured, they might get carried away, feeling an impulse to fight fiercely.

Of course, with Xu Xin’s restraint and their own control, this impulse can be suppressed, so it’s not too big of an issue.

”So, my Bai Ma might have giant beast bloodlines too.” Ji Chaoyang stroked his chin and said, ”I always thought it strange, it clearly hasn’t mutated with blood patterns, yet grows so fast. Turns out it’s the giant beast bloodline.”

Hmm? Ji Chaoyang hasn’t seen a giant beast without blood patterns?

”Over there, haven’t you seen other giant beasts?” Xu Xin asked him.

”...Do creatures guarding golden treasure chests count?” Ji Chaoyang recalled and said.

”This...” Xu Xin frowned. It seems his side is quite special, surrounded by giant beasts.

Moreover, the golden treasure chest guardian beast he encountered, that giant Cannibal Flower was also enormous, could it be...

”Bang!” As Xu Xin was still pondering, a loud noise suddenly came from behind.

”Eek!” Keke was startled and shuddered.

They immediately turned around and saw that the heavy iron door had closed!

”Hiss—” Sounds of releasing air echoed around.

In an instant, Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang’s expressions changed dramatically, both recalling unpleasant memories.

”That energy core fragment! Take out the energy core fragment!” Ji Chaoyang immediately reacted, sharply turning his head towards Xu Xin.

Xu Xin also quickly reacted and immediately took out the core fragment emitting a luminous white glow from his backpack.

In that instant, the luminous white glow illuminated the entire room. The red weapon had already gushed out from the cracks in the room’s floor, but the moment Xu Xin took out the energy core fragment, the hissing sound stopped.

The red mist stopped continuing to spew from the gaps in the surrounding walls and floor.

”Phew... luckily it worked.” Xu Xin breathed a sigh of relief.

This core fragment indeed had a suppressive effect on this iron room, just as the message from the giant said.

The surrounding iron walls began to absorb energy again, gradually emitting a dazzling glow.

”Crack...” A sound like metal forcibly bending suddenly came from the wall in front.

The two looked toward the wall they had always been concerned about, and saw an irregular crack appearing on it, gradually expanding, even the iron wall started to twist, emitting sharp noises!

The feeling was as if there was a gap on the wall and someone was reaching into this gap and forcibly prying it open!

The two saw the scene behind the wall through the crack.

It was the salt mine cave!

It was that wall!

”The wall cracked! We should be able to get out!”

Soon, accompanied by the rattling sound of the iron wall, the opening expanded enough for a person to walk through.

”Let’s go!”

Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang immediately passed through the opening, followed by the Silver King, stepping out of the cave.

Behind them, in the opening, the iron room was still flashing with blinding white light. Then, to their astonishment, the iron wall began to slowly restore itself!

Soon, the twisted and bent iron wall returned to its original smoothness.

And under the illumination of the power core fragment in Xu Xin’s hand, the stone wall rattled, and the cracked gap gradually returned to normal.

The luminous white glow emitted by this energy core is originally the power of the giant, even though the core is in Xu Xin’s hands now, restoring itself is quite normal.

”Xu Xin!” Li Wenxi’s anxious shout suddenly sounded from the cave entrance, ”You guys get out quickly, be careful not to get trapped inside again!”

The two turned their heads toward the entrance, and Li Wenxi and Qi Xuefei were waving at them from the entrance, their expressions showing urgency and a hint of joy. They looked somewhat breathless, as if they had just sprinted with all their might.

”Don’t worry, it’s all fine now.” Xu Xin waved to reassure them and took another look at the stone wall.

The iron room behind it may have great use in the future.

No, maybe it’s not iron, just looks like iron. The metal’s automatic restoration suggests it could be some kind of memory metal.

A new metal.

He wondered if cutting off a piece and throwing it into a furnace could forge a metal block.

But naturally, he dared not attempt it. The room is related to the secrets of this world, even used to suppress the giant’s head, definitely not something he can easily cut.

Fortunately, the giant’s power gave them an outlet.

”The giant sealed the cave at that time, perhaps only intending to leave you there to receive the message it left behind.” Ji Chaoyang looked at the now sealed wall, pondering.

”Hmm, probably so.”

The two walked toward the cave entrance.

Li Wenxi could no longer hold back and ran in herself, seeing the two moving slowly.

”Where have you guys been all this time? Anything happened?”

She ran to Xu Xin, picked up his hand to check and then looked intently at his face.

”Nothing happened, we even gained quite a lot.” Xu Xin replied with a smile. They indeed gained a lot of things this time.

”I can see that.” Li Wenxi glanced at the fragment of the Treasure Pearl in Xu Xin’s other hand, still emitting a luminous white glow, ”Ah, you finally came out. We were just in front of that stone wall! Then when we saw the wall crack, fearing the entrance would seal again, we quickly ran out!”

The three had already walked out of the mine cave, Qi Xuefei waited at the entrance with a relieved and relaxed expression.

”You two are really leisurely.” Seeing the two still strolling at ease, Qi Xuefei was a bit irritated, crossing her arms in front of her chest, ”Take us out and then disappear on your own, can’t contact you, making us two women wait here for you.”

”Sorry about that, Sister Xuefei, it was beyond our control, we were forced to be transmitted.” Xu Xin apologized somewhat embarrassedly. It was indeed not very proper, but they had no choice. Who knew they’d suddenly be transmitted so far away.

Looking back now, perhaps after closing the door for the first time, the giant’s remaining consciousness also noticed the issue of the Red Mist spraying and affecting them, so they were transmitted to another side, where they could get the core without going through the iron room.

As for why at that location...

Xu Xin suddenly thought that the location they were transmitted to seemed to be where the Blood Pattern Giant disappeared back then.

What secret was there in all of this...
