Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 252: Chapter 225: Is He Really Strong (4,000 Words!)_2

The most important thing is, Xu Xin himself absolutely couldn’t do this operation.

Every crossbow in his treehouse, manually controlled, can only be operated through the joystick on the wall. For him to simultaneously fire three crossbows together, it’s just impossible.

There’s a required distance between each crossbow, even if he moved at light speed between them, it’s impossible to make them fire simultaneously and hit the ground at the same time.

This... must be the special ability that the person in front of him possesses.

That’s what he thought just now.

But now, observing the person he just knocked out with a kick, he felt like his guess might be wrong.

This person is only wearing a green-tier leather armor set, not even a blue-tier one!

Moreover, upon rifling through the green-tier backpack he had just taken from this person, apart from the long knife in his hand being a blue-tier stone tool, everything else—tools, weapons, etc.—were all green-tier.

Xu Xin couldn’t even find any blue-tier fruits in his backpack.

Wasn’t he just an ordinary bottom-tier survivor?

What was the situation? Why would such an ordinary survivor have such an extraordinary ability to control crossbows?

Could it be that this ability isn’t his, but...

Xu Xin looked up at the crossbows on the treehouse.

Could it be that these crossbows are special?

But these crossbows are green-tier, they’re very low-level crossbows.

As Xu Xin was pondering with a furrowed brow, Li Wenxi and Qi Xuefei walked over.

”Eep!” Keke waved her little paw on Xu Xin’s shoulder.

The two walked forward, looking at the motionless man on the ground. The scratches on the man’s face made both of them pause.

Li Wenxi took Keke off Xu Xin’s shoulder and hugged her in her arms, asking, ”Did he pass out? How did his face become like this, could it be that little guy...”

”Eep!” Keke nodded her little head, indicating that yes, it was her.

”Is this your pet?” Qi Xuefei looked at Keke curiously.

She then turned to Xu Xin with gratitude in her tone along with a hint of embarrassment, ”Um... thank you, Xu Xin, if it weren’t for you guys, I would have really...”

There was indeed some embarrassment, as it was the first time the three of them truly met today, and they witnessed her being knocked over repeatedly.

She was older than the two in front of her by several years, and they called her Sister Xuefei. Yet, at their first meeting, she was so embarrassed...

It was really embarrassing! She thought helplessly to herself, Maybe I should just stick to being a physician; battles and territorial expansion really don’t suit me...

”It’s expected.” Xu Xin nodded, then asked, ”Sister Xuefei, why did you come to a treehouse surrounded by so many crossbows?”

”Um...” Qi Xuefei smiled awkwardly and recounted her experiences after going out today.

Including how she got here and how she ended up like this.

”Ah, Sister Xuefei is near-sighted!” Upon hearing that Qi Xuefei approached the treehouse because she couldn’t see the crossbows due to her near-sightedness, Li Wenxi squeezed Keke in her arms, causing Keke to squeal twice.

Near-sightedness wasn’t much of a problem in the original world, but it’s different here.

When they came to this world, they only had their beginner two-piece set and a treehouse seed, and the mysterious voice didn’t kindly bring their glasses along. They didn’t know how to make glasses or grind lenses at all.

Thus, near-sightedness was a relatively big disadvantage in this world.

”In our country, over 80% of high school students are nearsighted, and for college students, it’s almost 90%. So, you two being non-nearsighted is actually quite rare.” Qi Xuefei shared a statistic, her cheeks reddened as she slightly defended herself.

”Ah? That many?” Li Wenxi widened her eyes, thinking, ”Seems... indeed.”

Her high school classmates didn’t have many who didn’t wear glasses; in college, there seemed fewer, but that was because people started to care about appearances—some only wore glasses when needed, some switched to contacts, and some underwent LASIK surgery, which made it seem like there were fewer near-sighted people.

Thinking of LASIK surgery, Li Wenxi suddenly clapped her hands, ”Don’t worry, Sister Xuefei, since we can treat near-sightedness in that world, it’ll surely be possible in this one! Maybe you’ll create a medicine that cures near-sightedness?”

A medicine to cure near-sightedness... Xu Xin found it a bit amusing; could near-sightedness really be cured by eating something? But considering the strange powers in this world... maybe it could be possible.

”Um...” Qi Xuefei also seemed to think the possibility wasn’t very high; she smiled, ”Maybe there will be one in the future?”

The possibility of her making a medicine for near-sightedness was less likely than the points store eventually selling items with the ability to treat near-sightedness. After all, the store was already selling things with various strange functions.

”Sister Xuefei, you better contact Ji Chaoyang; he’s already bringing the survivors from the east over, he should be near your treehouse by now.” Xu Xin wasn’t concerned with near-sightedness, he reminded Qi Xuefei.

”Ji Chaoyang has already dealt with the east? I’ll contact him now!” Qi Xuefei swiped her watch and began to explain her current situation in [Explorer].

Soon, Ji Chaoyang responded, ”I’m already bringing the person close to your treehouse; do you need me to help over there?”

Xu Xin replied, ”No need, everything’s mostly handled here; bringing a captive might be inconvenient, we’ll come over soon.”

Ji Chaoyang said, ”Alright, I’ll wait for you at Qi Xuefei’s treehouse.”

”Hmm... um...” The man on the ground suddenly let out a groan.

”Ah! This man is waking up!” Seeing the man on the ground, thinking of his previous words and actions, Li Wenxi felt a burst of anger and immediately kicked the man on the ground, flipping him over to lie on his back.

Qi Xuefei looked at the man with a look of disgust and took a step forward, seeming like she wanted to kick him as well, but she restrained herself in the end.

”How do you want to deal with this man?” Qi Xuefei asked Xu Xin. As the rescued party, she indeed had no authority to demand how the person should be dealt with and had to ask Xu Xin.

”Oh, I have a few questions to ask him.” Xu Xin glanced at the motionless man on the ground, ”Once I’m done asking, Sister Xuefei, you can do as you wish.”

After being kicked to lie on his back, the man stopped groaning, but his eyelids trembled.

”Alright, I know you’re awake.” Xu Xin lightly kicked the man pretending to be unconscious, not using much force, just to remind him to stop pretending.

The man’s eyes quivered and opened, seeing the three people standing over him.

One of them was the woman he had toyed with for a long time just now, she and the other pretty girl were looking at him with extreme disgust.

Xu Xin looked at him, asking in a flat tone, ”I have a few questions for you; if you answer well, you might get to keep your life, but if I’m dissatisfied...”

Xu Xin made a slash with the spear in his hand on the man’s leg, instantly cutting through the green-tier leather armor, leaving a wound that caused the man to let out a scream. His face turned pale due to the life-draining ability of the spear.

He clutched his leg wound, rolling around and screaming in pain.

Xu Xin watched him, furrowing his brow.

It was just a little cut; was it that bad? Sister Xuefei’s injuries earlier were much more severe, and she didn’t even make a sound.

This guy... clearly isn’t a strong one.

If someone like him could rank high, then Area 187 must be quite pathetic.

”Ahhhh! It hurts! It hurts!” The thin, monkey-like man rolled around, finally stopping and letting out pitiful noises, his eyes staring at Xu Xin and the others, overwhelmed with tears.

His eyes were filled with fear and resentment, ”You... you can’t do this to me! Or my big brother will surely kill you!”

Hah... familiar villain lines.

But... his big brother?

Now things are getting interesting.
