Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 257: Chapter 228 Control Panel_2

Seeing Xu Xin no longer using explosive crossbow bolts, the two of them also came over.

”Your halberd is so sharp. Is this a steel weapon?” Qi Xuefei was a bit surprised to see the halberd cutting through the treehouse’s base like it was slicing tofu.

”A purple-grade steel weapon, the strongest even among purple-grade ones. Be careful!” Xu Xin warned, stepping back two steps himself.

A circular cut was already completed by him, then a thirty-centimeter thick round treehouse floor panel wobbled and dropped directly, hitting the ground with a ”bang.”

”Ying!” Keke jumped out from Li Wenxi’s arms, climbed up the tree trunk, and entered the hole into the treehouse in just a couple of moves.

Xu Xin also stepped back a couple of steps, sprinted up, stepped twice on the tree trunk, grabbed the edge of the floor hole with both hands, and with a strong pull, he entered the treehouse.

Finally made it inside.

Without the owner’s permission, entering a treehouse like this is really difficult.

This is just a regular green-grade treehouse. If it were a blue-grade one, it would be seven meters off the ground, and without higher-grade weapons, entering it would be unimaginable. A purple-grade treehouse would be even harder.

”I want to go up and see too!”

Li Wenxi imitated Xu Xin’s moves, easily climbing into the treehouse in two steps.

After all, she had enhanced her body many times in this world, and she also regularly exercised, so her physical abilities were quite good.

Qi Xuefei didn’t have this kind of physical ability, but she wasn’t really interested in the inside of the treehouse, so she didn’t go in. Instead, she shouted towards the hole in the base of the treehouse, ”I won’t go in. You two grab the core and come out quickly; Ji Chaoyang is waiting for us.”

”Got it!” Li Wenxi replied.

At this time, Xu Xin was examining a device.

After entering the treehouse, he searched around and eventually found a device he had never seen before next to a window on the second floor.

Keke had already run onto the windowsill, and upon seeing Xu Xin come up, it immediately called out ”Ying” to have him come over.

This device bore some resemblance to a music control panel, with two arm-thick wooden rods fixed to the treehouse floor. Above the rods was a thick stone slab with a downward-slanting top, inlaid with a screen. This should be the control panel Ma Hongyu mentioned earlier.

The panel didn’t have various buttons like a control station as Xu Xin imagined, which surprised him a little.

The screen was now dark, and Xu Xin touched it with his hand.

[Treehouse External Weapon Control Panel (Blue): Can connect with control panels of all external weapons in the treehouse, allowing all external weapons to be operated from the panel.]

Indeed! It can control all external weapons! Connect all external weapons!

According to this description, perhaps those heavy crossbows aren’t special at all; it’s merely that this single panel can control all the weapons?

Xu Xin tried to activate the screen by touching it, but it remained unresponsive.

It wouldn’t open.

He tried several more times, but couldn’t operate it.

At this moment, Li Wenxi also walked up beside him, observing the device, then said, ”I guess it just can’t be controlled, right? I just tried to activate the big screen in the treehouse below; it couldn’t be turned on either.”

”The screen below can’t be activated either...” Xu Xin rubbed his chin.

It seems that these devices inside the treehouse can only be operated by the owner. No response whatsoever for anyone else. Likewise, parasitic treehouses can only be operated by their owner; no one else can touch them.

This serves as a form of self-protection for the treehouse.

Not bad.

He was somewhat worried that once there were many parasitic treehouses, people from other regions might break in to do things like gathering information or using the trading platform of area 188 to loot resources. Turns out, he was overthinking it.

Xu Xin attempted to remove the control panel, but this panel was directly connected to the ground, much like the treehouse fireplace, which could only be destroyed, not taken away.

”Forget it. Let’s see what we can take from this house, then extract the treehouse core and head over to Qi Xuefei’s treehouse. Ji Chaoyang should be there already.” Xu Xin glanced at the panel one last time.

The two of them scavenged the entire treehouse. There was basically nothing inside these two floors of the treehouse, except for some green-grade resources they had in excess. Even carrying them felt like they were just taking up backpack space and weight limits.

”This person is so poor...” Li Wenxi said speechlessly, hoping to enjoy the thrill of looting, but there was nothing here, not even any decor from the points shop.

”Can’t be helped. This is just an ordinary survivor, unlike us.” Xu Xin didn’t have high hopes; this was within his expectations.

”Ying!”

Keke was a step ahead, running to the center of the treehouse, scratching the ground a couple of times, calling out with a ”Ying,” indicating to Xu Xin that the spot was here.

”Alright, let’s get the core.” Xu Xin walked over.

”This is the first time I’m seeing a core extraction! I’ve only heard you all talk about it before!” Li Wenxi quickly stood next to Xu Xin, watching him operate curiously.

”The spot Keke scratched earlier is where the tree trunk of the treehouse is.” Xu Xin pointed to the center of the treehouse floor. ”The treehouse floor can be easily chopped open with an iron axe; you can give it a try.”

”Alright! Let me try!” Hearing this, Li Wenxi immediately took out her blue-grade iron axe.

She positioned herself, gripped the axe with both hands, raised it high, and swung it down hard towards the center of the treehouse floor, ”Heh!”

Xu Xin’s lips slightly curled. This action is much like swinging a pickaxe for mining, no wonder she’s been quite a wealthy miner.

”Crack!” The floor cracked open, and Li Wenxi struck it two more times consecutively, finally breaking it apart, revealing the hollow tree trunk below.

”It really is hollow!” Li Wenxi immediately lay down to take a closer look, then exclaimed in surprise, ”There’s a glowing orb inside! That must be the core! Do we have to jump in to get it?”

Saying that, she sat on the edge of the hole, ready to jump in.

”No need, let Keke go down.” Xu Xin quickly reached out to pull Li Wenxi up.

”Ying!” Keke immediately jumped into the hollow trunk and, under Li Wenxi’s curious gaze, unearthed the core from the soil and quickly hopped back up.

”Wow, Keke, you’re amazing!” Li Wenxi picked up Keke holding the core in its mouth and took out the treehouse core.

”Ying!” Keke, upon being praised, proudly chirped, wagging its big tail.

At the same time, the extracted treehouse core caused the treehouse to die and rapidly wither, even the floor under their feet began to become brittle, making creaking sounds.

”Hurry down!” Xu Xin quickly led Li Wenxi to jump off the treehouse, and all three of them moved a distance away from it.

The leaves outside the treehouse rapidly withered and fell, revealing the heavy crossbows mounted outside the treehouse, then the entire wooden treehouse began to collapse, finally falling with a ”boom.”

The entire treehouse ultimately turned into a ground full of wooden debris, leaving only a slightly dry looking treehouse trunk.
