Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 279: Chapter 243: Danger After the Rift_2

”It should be correct.” Xu Xin now also agreed with Ji Chaoyang’s speculation, ”It’s not just a head, but very likely, the head of a so-called ’deity’!”

”Deity?!” Li Wenxi and Qi Xuefei exclaimed in unison.

”By deity, do you mean the voice that brought us to this world?” Li Wenxi was the first to think of that mysterious voice.

”I’m not sure,” Xu Xin shook his head, ”Let’s go inside and take a look first, and then I’ll explain the deity thing to you.”

”Okay, but you guys be careful.”

Keke had already climbed onto Xu Xin’s shoulder, looking into the cave.

Xu Xin reached out to scratch Keke’s chin, and Keke let out a comfortable ”Mmm~” sound.

Seeing Keke didn’t indicate any danger inside, Xu Xin felt somewhat reassured.

Keke, this little detector, had never failed before.

He ate a few state-boosting fruits to get his body to peak condition, and Ji Chaoyang did the same, then they both, along with two beasts, stepped into this salt mine cave.

The two women took up the task of keeping watch at the cave entrance, paying attention to any sudden changes inside and outside the cave.

Inside, a very faint blood mist still lingered, but it had transformed from a stench to a fragrant scent. However, without the refreshing scent of oranges, the fragrant smell could make one dizzy if inhaled too much.

”This is the salt mine, right?” Ji Chaoyang pointed to the white ore on the ground and asked, ”Can we extract some now?”

”I don’t know. Just now, when I scratched the surface twice, it awakened this ’head,’ so I don’t know if mining it will... Speaking of which, if this is a head, then this salt mine could be... tartar?”

Xu Xin twitched the corner of his mouth.

Thinking about it this way is a bit disgusting.

”You don’t have to think about it that way,” Ji Chaoyang squatted down, examined the salt mine closely, then stood up and smiled, ”Moreover, this might indeed be the head of a ’deity’, and not just anyone can consume the deity’s tartar.”

”...If you keep talking, I’m going to throw up,” Xu Xin said with a full black line on his forehead, not wanting anyone’s tartar.

He glanced at the wall deeper inside the cave, and after entering, he could see the wall more clearly. It was really completely sealed, with no visible traces.

”Haha, just joking. Even if it’s a giant’s head, it’s made of stone, don’t mind it.” Ji Chaoyang pulled out a pickaxe, looked at the position from the mine entrance, and said, ”Let’s give it a try. You’re running low on salt, right?”

The nearest salt mine was more than ten meters from the entrance, which was only a one or two-second dash. The two of them agreed to try mining the salt mine.

Ji Chaoyang swung the pickaxe in his hand.

”Crack!”

The salt ore was easily chipped away.

The two vigilantly watched the surroundings for changes, only to find that they were overly worried, mining the salt ore posed no problem.

The two exchanged glances.

Since mining the salt was currently safe, they decided to take the opportunity to extract more to prevent any future disturbances from hindering their efforts!

”Mining? Let me! Sister Xuefei, you keep watch at the entrance for us!” Li Wenxi, seeing the two were mining ore and itching to help, immediately told Qi Xuefei before running inside.

”Ugh!” Qi Xuefei wanted to stop her but couldn’t, and resignedly shook her head.

The entrance had just been sealed, and they weren’t sure what had happened inside, how could they just start mining in there.

”You two go explore, leave the mining to me!” Li Wenxi said as she walked over to mine salt ore beside the mining-aware Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang, pulling out her [Prospector’s Steel Pickaxe].

”Why did you come in...” Xu Xin glanced outside, only Qi Xuefei was left there.

”Mining is naturally for me,” Li Wenxi giggled and swung her pickaxe, triggering multiple drops, instantly covering the ground with salt ore.

”...I’ll leave it to you then.” Seeing Li Wenxi’s one-swing yield, which surpassed what they had mined for a while, Xu Xin touched his nose and gave up on mining.

Professional matters should indeed be handled by professionals.

”Mmm!” Keke suddenly jumped down from Xu Xin’s shoulder, running towards the deeper part of the mine.

”This little guy!”

Xu Xin had initially decided not to venture deeper, especially after causing an anomaly earlier.

But with Keke already inside, he worried about the little guy and followed.

The little one wouldn’t put itself in danger, if it dared to go in, at least it meant the cave’s depths were currently safe.

Ji Chaoyang also followed towards the cave interior.

Keke stopped in front of the cracked wall from earlier, stood up, and tilted its little head, examining the wall.

”What’s wrong, Keke, is there a problem with this wall?” Xu Xin walked over, picking Keke up. He feared Keke might claw at the wall, reactivating the ”head.”

”Woof!” The Silver King seemed to sense something too and barked at the wall.

”Mmm...” Keke stared at the wall for a while longer, then pointed at it with its small paw, ”Mmm! Mmm mmm!”

Xu Xin narrowed his eyes.

”What does it mean?” Ji Chaoyang asked.

”...It probably means there’s something special behind this wall, maybe something dangerous,” Xu Xin slowly said.

”Dangerous?” Ji Chaoyang was about to touch the wall but pulled his hand back upon hearing Xu Xin’s comment.

Who knows what touching it might trigger.

Xu Xin started pondering.

Just now, after this wall cracked open, Xu Xin saw white glowing lights inside, but no red mist seeped out.

And as he was running out, he heard wind sounds behind him.

Once the mine reopened, it was filled with dense red mist inside.

What the hell is going on... Was the red mist emitting from behind this wall?

And what was the white glow? He remembered Mi Mi saying she saw white glowing light from the ground tunnel.

The only white glowing light he came into contact with recently...

was on the treehouse core.

The treehouse core emanates a white glow!

And the glow from this crack was almost identical in radiance!

Could it be that this ”head” is somewhat connected to the treehouse?

Behind this rift, what kind of things could there be that emit a white glow like the treehouse core while also releasing mist that enhances mutant creatures?

In his view, these should be two unrelated or even opposing forces.

How could such forces appear in the same place?
