Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 256: Chapter 228 Control Panel

This scene reminded him of the iron room below the entrance to the underground world, and the skeleton that he touched, which crumbled to pieces.

Back then, Keke played with the skull as if it were a ball, which startled him.

This little guy, does it feel compelled to play with anything ball-shaped?

But playing with a head is just too...

Li Wenxi didn’t care about being scared anymore, and quickly ran up to pick Keke up, then took a small bottle of water from her backpack and started washing Keke’s paws.

”Eek?” Keke was lifted up and received the purification of clean water, with a big question mark on its face.

Qi Xuefei first watched this scene in astonishment, then couldn’t help but laugh: ”Haha, Xu Xin, your pet has as heavy a taste as you.”

”When do I ever have a heavy taste?” Xu Xin replied helplessly, this little guy is ruining his reputation.

Watching Keke being held by Li Wenxi away, Xu Xin lightly flicked Keke’s little head.

”Eek!” Keke covered its head with its small paws in protest, ”Eek eek eek!”

”Really, how can you do such things,” Li Wenxi cleaned Keke’s paws and also flicked its little forehead, ”From now on, don’t do these things anymore, got it!”

”Eek...” Keke seemed a bit disappointed and buried its head in Li Wenxi’s arms.

”Alright, don’t be sad, I’ll make a special ball for you to play with in the future,” Xu Xin said, running his hand over the fur on Keke’s back, somewhat amused.

”Eek!” Keke was instantly undismayed, nodding its little head at Xu Xin, wagging its big tail excitedly.

Qi Xuefei looked at this adorable little creature, feeling a surge of curiosity and a desire to pet it: ”Can I touch it?”

Before Xu Xin and Li Wenxi could speak, Keke slipped onto Li Wenxi’s back, poking its little head out, clearly showing signs of rejection: ”Eek!”

”Looks like not,” Xu Xin shrugged, ”It’s shy; you two just met today, so it won’t let you touch it.”

”You and Wenxi also met for the first time today, right?”

”That’s different,” Li Wenxi pulled Keke down into her arms, stroked its little tummy, and explained, ”I video chat with Xu Xin every day, every time Keke can see me, it’s already familiar with me! Right, Keke?”

”Eek~”

Qi Xuefei’s expression became somewhat inscrutable, a hint of a smile playing at her lips: ”Video chatting every day, huh? I seem to remember you telling me before that you two only communicated through messages, occasionally using voice to say two words?”

”Ah?” Li Wenxi blushed, her gaze shifted, ”What everyday video? Did I just say we video chat every day?”

”Haha, alright, once you get familiar with Keke, it should let you touch it,” Xu Xin petted Keke’s big tail in Li Wenxi’s arms, then said to both of them, ”Alright, stand further away, I need to use explosive bolts to blast open this treehouse below.”

”Still need to blast it open?” Li Wenxi looked up at the treehouse. Indeed, if not blasted, it’s really hard to enter.

Holding Keke, the two retreated to a spot more than ten meters away from the treehouse, and Xu Xin also stood a little further back, loaded a crossbow with an explosive bolt, aimed at the treehouse bottom, and pulled the trigger.

”Boom!”

An explosion echoed from beneath the treehouse.

As the smoke cleared, glancing at the treehouse bottom, Xu Xin frowned.

The foliage at the bottom had already exploded away, revealing the wooden exterior floor of the treehouse.

The entire floor was surprisingly barely damaged, only showing some explosive marks.

”How’d it go? Did it blow open?” Li Wenxi asked from ten meters away.

”No, I’ll try again.”

Xu Xin loaded another explosive bolt, aimed at the previously blasted spot, and pulled the trigger.

”Boom!”

Wood shavings flew, the effect was okay, but not very strong, only a shallow area was blasted.

”Hmm? Is this treehouse... so tough?”

Explosive bolts should be able to directly blast through a tree several dozen centimeters thick, with massive power, but why is the damage to the treehouse so low?

Xu Xin suddenly remembered when he and Lou Fei’Er battled in the Parasitic Treehouse 02, they also used explosive bolts, and the damage to the inner treehouse walls back then was much greater.

Could it be that the exterior is stronger?

Or maybe the defense of a parasitic treehouse is weaker than that of a normal treehouse?

Xu Xin put away his crossbow.

He thought the explosive bolts could blow it open with one or two shots; since they couldn’t, might as well try using his long lance directly.

”What’s up? Can’t blow it open?” Li Wenxi asked from behind.

”Yeah, I’ll try my long lance.”

The long lance was three meters long, and the treehouse bottom was only three meters high; Xu Xin wielded the lance, able to circle around the treehouse base and open the bottom.

With a forceful thrust at the treehouse bottom, there was a ”crack,” and the lance pierced into the floor.

Fairly easy, but didn’t have the effortless feeling of slicing through walls like during the battle in Parasitic Treehouse 02.

Moreover, now his strength boost made him much stronger than when he met Lou Fei’Er.

This suggests that a regular treehouse’s defense might indeed be stronger than a parasitic treehouse’s. However, parasitic treehouses can indefinitely repair and regenerate, each has its own advantages.

Xu Xin exerted force on his wrists and arms, the sharp lance’s side blade slowly carving a circle at the treehouse bottom.
