From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Chapter 36: Chapter 22: Fleeing for Dear Life

K3 hesitated for a moment, his flippant voice tinged with hesitation, ”Naturally, it’s to inform the other party that we’ve reached our destination, so she can wait at home for someone to pick her up... uh, do you think she’ll misunderstand and go straight to those coordinates?”

Xu Na and Lucy covered their faces, and Xu Lei’s rigid face twitched slightly. Considering what they knew of Su Jiameng, she might indeed head straight there... If that’s the case, everything makes sense. The person sent to pick her up wouldn’t find her at home... because she’s already on the road. The smart terminal can’t connect because she’s out of the signal area, and signals on the poor planet are weak; only the cities have them, other places have none... In other words, she really went there...

”Doesn’t she know there are many dangerous Alien Beasts near that city, and even a large group of Cannibal Birds?” K3 found it hard to believe. After all, Su Jiameng stayed in this city for a while, how could she not know this?

Everyone was silent: ”...” Nothing could be done, the uncle in the distance was too concise in his expression, Xiao Meng couldn’t understand it QAQ

”Master~~~ Hurry up, hurry up~~~ My little chrysanthemum, the wind’s chilly, hurry up and speed up!!!” The horrifying screams continued, and all sorts of shameless remarks spilled from the flying machine’s mini-speaker, causing the veins on Su Jiameng’s forehead to throb!

”Ah~~~~ it’s going to hit, it’s going to hit~~~~ Speed up!!! It’s a bit slower here!!! It’ll crash——”

”Damn it, shut up!!!” Su Jiameng snapped while skillfully dodging several deadly moves, maneuvering through a sphere formed by thousands of Cannibal Birds, steadfastly flying toward the coordinates!

Li You stood atop the miniature rescue warship, his expression grave as he reviewed the messages sent by his subordinates.

The person wasn’t picked up, the target wasn’t home... As a soldier, he hated people who didn’t adhere to schedules and promises. Making this detour to be here was already an exception. If the other party couldn’t show up within the allocated time, he would have no choice but to return. The main fleet was still waiting on the Cosmic Spaceship, and he couldn’t waste too much time here.

As the subordinate piloting the Mecha returned, he glanced at the time on his smart terminal, ten minutes left. Closing his eyes slightly, he instructed the subordinate awaiting orders, ”Wait ten more minutes, then set off!”

As time pressed on, with no news of Su Jiameng showing up, K3 and the group felt a huge sense of dismay. Xu Na, frustrated, covered her face, ”Great, now she can’t catch this ride... who knows what might happen then...”

K3 hesitated, softly asking, ”What if... I ask Uncle Li now to extend the waiting time by a few minutes?”

”I don’t think it’s necessary...” Xu Na shifted her gaze to her silent brother, seeking his opinion, ”First, Boss Qin’s uncle has begrudgingly agreed to pick up Xiao Meng, which is already a bothersome favor. If we insist, he might agree, but it’ll be awkward next time we meet. Secondly... Xiao Meng’s smart terminal has entered a signal area...”

The three friends looked at each other suspiciously. Checking the friend list, oh wow, the other party was indeed in the signal area.

”Entering the signal area means two possibilities. First, she turned back halfway and returned to the city. Second, she’s not far from the position of the uncle’s warship.” Outside the city, there were no signals because no towers were installed, but the warship had an interstellar signal.

Everyone fell silent until Uncle Li sent a concise message to K3: ”Arrived...”

Xu Na couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief, looking admiringly at her brother. Lucy was somewhat perplexed and asked, ”I understand those first two words, but what does that string of ellipses mean?”

Xu Na giggled, dismissively saying, ”It’s just an ellipsis, what could it possibly mean? Well, since Xiao Meng has arrived, we don’t have much to worry about. I’m logging off now, see you in an hour, (^_^) /~~ bye-bye.”

Lucy’s intuition was right; those ellipses had an unusual significance. Meanwhile, Li You silently watched the countdown on his smart terminal. When there were four minutes left, his subordinate stared blankly at the distance, showing a complex expression. If not for the subordinate’s restraint, any ordinary person would have been scared senseless. He swore he’d never seen a spectacle like this in his life!

”Boss...” The subordinate blurted out the nickname teasingly used for Li You, then cringed under Li You’s icy glare, reporting tearfully, ”There are Cannibal Birds ahead...”

Boss, could you not look at him with such a majestic and overpowering gaze for now QAQ, because there’s a massive wave of Cannibal Birds coming right at us. Our top priority right now isn’t to just fire the cannon and blast away these ”clingy little demons”?

Li You’s face was solemn as he directly issued orders to his subordinates in the control room, instructing them to concentrate fire and take out those Cannibal Birds. He was puzzled, Cannibal Birds, though they live in flocks, rarely come out in such a large-scale swarm. Judging by this terrifying number, there are at least five to six thousand, aren’t there? Fortunately, this rescue warship is equipped with high firepower weapons, otherwise today would be disastrous.

The subordinates in the main control room were just about to execute the orders, aiming, but then they discovered something very discordant. They hurriedly reported to Li You, ”Sir, it seems that the Cannibal Bird Group is chasing a woman! Judging by the flight path, she’s heading straight for us...”

All of them were trusted subordinates of Li You, naturally aware of why the course was suddenly altered to this godforsaken poor planet. Now, upon seeing someone who might be the mission target, they also felt like sweating nervously ⊙﹏⊙

”What!” Li You told the subordinates to bring up the video feed; he could clearly see a woman (girl) wearing strange clothes piloting a rudimentary flying machine, dodging the overwhelming Cannibal Birds with incredible speed and agility. Although her face showed irritation, they couldn’t tell what she was yelling, but it was certain she was handling the situation skillfully.

”Should we request fire support?” asked a subordinate, unsure whether to conduct indiscriminate firing or directly provide fire support to the target.

Li You furrowed his brow, his brows forming a ”chuan” character. Hesitating for no more than a second, he was about to decide on fire support when Su Jiameng ran into trouble again. Along the way, she was almost driven mad by this flying machine; just what idiot created this Doubi Flying Machine, did their integrity and limits get eaten by dogs? The close calls were all caused by it disrupting her...

Initially, she wanted to angrily pilot the Military Fortress and blast these Cannibal Birds to smithereens, but now the target was in sight, and using such high firepower mecha would invite unnecessary trouble.

”Fortunately, I was smart and hung the Lord of the Sky — Fei Feng’s Mecha Space Hub around my neck!”

Just as Su Jiameng was feeling smug, she smacked her forehead, realizing, no, if she had been piloting Fei Feng from the start instead of this ridiculous flying machine, wouldn’t she have shaken off these clingy little demons already? There would have been no need for such dodging and evasive maneuvers?

Li You and the attentive subordinates all saw the bizarre woman piloting the flying machine suddenly speed up, opening a Mecha Space Hub and entering an unusually shaped fire-red mecha. From above, the fuselage looked like it was made up of two equilateral acute triangles, the body flat and sharp, with wings equipped with numerous acceleration ports.

”Fools, let me show you what the Lord of the Sky means!” Su Jiameng activated the liquid buffer system; if it were her former self, she naturally wouldn’t need it. Her body strength was sufficient to endure such speed, but this body couldn’t. Without the liquid buffer system, she couldn’t withstand even a thousandth of Fei Feng’s speed.

The Lord of the Sky — Fei Feng, was a high-achiever in the realm of speed. It forsakes large firepower and offensive weapons, using the lightest advanced composite materials, with a powerful engine providing maximum thrust. Every component of its body is born for speed.

Li You’s team watched as that odd mecha, once extremely distant, quickly approached at increasing speeds, easily shaking off the relentless Cannibal Bird Group. As soon as the mecha entered the rescue warship’s protective range, Li You swiftly ordered to blast away the Cannibal Birds!

Fei Feng’s superior performance was undoubtedly impressive; now Su Jiameng only dared to increase the speed to seven percent, which was already the limit her body could handle. If the speed went any higher, a catastrophic loss of control might occur.

”OMG... I’ll never use this ridiculous thing again...” Su Jiameng slowly landed on the rescue warship’s helipad, exhaling a slight sigh of relief seeing those Cannibal Birds enjoying the ’sugar-coated bullets’. Then, she angrily shook the flying machine, wishing she could dismantle and pawn this absurd thing.

”Ah~~~~ Master, don’t touch me there~~~~ Ease up, show some mercy...” The flying machine companion never learned, instead yelling even louder, putting Su Jiameng, a tomboy, at the brink of losing control, goosebumps all over.

”Darn it!” Throwing the Doubi Flying Machine into the Space Hub, she opened the cockpit, climbing out of Fei Feng as if escaping from the dead.

No matter how miserable her past life was, she had never been pursued by such a massive flock of Cannibal Birds, and even more pathetic was being dragged down by a ridiculous companion; what kind of karma did she create to meet these things? This interstellar travel was indeed a chaotic menstrual explosion, a show bursting with melodrama and endless miseries wrapped in joy (ren) and glee (jian) comedy (can).

Just after crawling out of the cockpit, she saw a man wearing a loose-fitting, forest-green, crisp military uniform standing on one side of the wings, his gaze calm and determined, his expression so serious it could not be more so, speaking in a deep voice, ”Su Jiameng?”
