Chapter 17: Chapter 10: This Squad Is Loaded

”Why are you asking this?” Xu Na frowned, generally speaking, a mecha master wouldn’t disclose such information.

”Isn’t it about team collaboration?” Su Jiameng shrugged her shoulders and said with a smile, ”If you don’t talk about these things, how can I judge what’s lacking in this team, and how can I modify the mecha to compensate for this deficiency?”

”You know how to customize?” This time, all four members frowned.

It’s not hard to pilot a mecha, but customizing one requires extremely rich knowledge about mechas, such as which type of engine paired with various parts can produce power; these are all different. Customization is not just random installation...

”Hm, what’s so strange about that?” Of course Su Jiameng knew that aside from K3, the other three were skeptical and scrutinizing her? After all, whether it was her clothes or age, there were not many people who had the courage to believe in her strength.

”Nothing strange, I like driving the K3 Green Wolf, you should know its performance. As for what I’m good at, it’s striking offensively, not very good at defense.” K3, also known as Qin Mo, gave his teammates a wink and introduced with a smile.

”I’m the mecha maintenance master in the team, good at repairing and customizing mechas. I mainly take the defensive position in the arena.” Unexpectedly to Su Jiameng, the second to speak was Xu Na, ”My brother is good at customization, most of the mechas in the team are his responsibility, and usually, he’s the all-round type, with a balanced skillset.”

”Since you’ve all talked, I’ll say something too.” Lucy flirtatiously flipped her hair behind her ear and quickly said, ”What I’m good at is gathering intelligence and predicting enemy actions, my repair and customization skills are just average, generally in a back-up defensive position.”

Four people, except for K3, the rest are all defense-oriented... What a strange team mix.

”Well, I’m average in everything, my customization and repair skills are fine. I’m used to solo fights, and in my opinion, offense is the best defense. As for mechas... I personally recommend using standard mechas. While customized mechas can make up for one deficiency, they also limit the potential to perfect these deficiencies.” Su Jiameng likes customized mechas, but doesn’t like driving them, because a perfect mecha would diminish the abilities she shows, preventing her from seeing her own flaws.

For Su Jiameng’s remarks, Xu Na and the others had a flash of a different color in their eyes, but none of them objected.

”Let’s go to the squad’s training arena, you can pick a mecha you fancy there.” K3 was the first to speak, proposing to Su Jiameng a squad team-up request, and after approval, sent her an invitation to enter the training arena.

”So this is the training ground...” Like the gladiator arena, this training arena also resulted from space compression technology, appearing only one square meter from the outside, but inside it was almost like a small gladiator arena, ”Really spacious.”

Su Jiameng sighed, it seemed these students were truly wealthy... you must know that renting such a small training ground costs as much as 10,000 credit points a week. Larger ones are even more expensive, costing an arm and a leg.

”These are the mecha space hubs our team has, see if there’s anything you can use.” As the team leader, K3 had the authority to manage the team’s public properties. These mechas seemed a bit outdated to them, but still much better than Su Jiameng’s Z12 Jackal.

As long as she didn’t encounter top masters of the same level, mecha configuration wasn’t very important to her. Even driving a Z1 to participate in a team match would be fine... However, if she dared to do that, these four students would probably go mad.

After picking through, considering the actual situation of the team, she chose an N13 Grey Leopard, which had decent speed and burst. Actually, Su Jiameng chose it purely because the name sounded impressive, its hidden depth not explainable to outsiders.

”These two L-series mechas are much better than the N13 Grey Leopard...” Xu Na was depressed; is this person an amateur?

”But it doesn’t suit me, this one is more to my liking.” Tossing the mecha space hub upwards playfully, Su Jiameng said with a smile, ”Although its defense isn’t great, the engine is decent, and its endurance and speed are what I like.”

”As you like... But I have to say, if we keep losing, we’ll hit a streak of 28 defeats. The points deduction will be brutal, so don’t take any risks. No matter what, the next match must be won to break the losing streak...” Xu Na and the others recently had been losing quite a bit and were becoming restless. Watching the points plummet, they felt helpless.

What particularly shook their confidence was the incident from a few days ago, making them even less confident about victory.

Their squad had been competing in the Mecha Fighting Arena since last semester, but the team points were volatile, going up and down, time and again. After all the hard work, the points barely reached over two hundred, and they were still far from the five-thousand-point milestone.

They knew winning a team match was tough, but it was rare to see a struggle as hard as theirs. A similar strength squad from another school already amassed 2,400 points, even though they faced strong opponents, it wasn’t that bad.

It was just discovered yesterday that one of their squad members was a spy! During matches, he deliberately lost and even sold them out, making victory exceedingly challenging, and the losing streak record glaringly obvious.
