From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Holographic Online Game BOSS

The scorching sun baked the land, surrounded by skyscrapers made of reinforced concrete. The sunlight reflecting off the cold buildings seemed even more scorching, causing a burning sensation on the skin.

However, if you observe closely, you’ll realize that this seemingly normal modern architectural scene is actually anything but normal, instead sending chills down the spine—there’s no one here! Under this silence, the blazing sunlight around seems cold.

Soon, a battered ice-blue mecha broke through the wind, shattering the silence of this place. Although this mecha was missing arms and legs, it did not affect its agility. On the contrary, it was weaving between the skyscrapers at a jaw-dropping extreme speed.

Following closely behind this ice-blue mecha were hundreds of other mechas in relatively good condition, arriving one after another.

However, unlike the former, their speed wasn’t as fast, and their agility wasn’t as strong. Some dozens of these mechas were misled by the ice-blue mecha, unable to evade in time, crashing directly into the abandoned skyscrapers, their booming impact resonating through the sky.

[Warning! Warning! Mecha wear rate exceeds 90%, energy below 20%!]

Inside the cockpit, the glaring red warning letters displayed the condition of this ice-blue mecha. Yet, the woman in the black tight-fitting piloting suit seemed indifferent, her dark eyes locked onto the screen, not daring to relax for a second. Her nimble hands controlled the mecha to perform various extreme and death-defying evasive maneuvers, so fast that even the afterimage was almost invisible!

When there were fewer than a hundred mechas left, the woman distractedly glanced at the data: mecha wear rate at 94%, energy below 13%... Seeing this, she gritted her teeth in determination, dodging the pursuers’ artillery attacks with difficulty. A feint maneuver led the remaining mechas a kilometer into the sky...

”Su Jiameng! Surrender immediately, abandoning your weapons! Accept the Alliance’s sanctions!” By the time they’d chased this far, everyone was running low on long-range weapons. Furthermore, the group encircling Su Jiameng knew that even though her mecha’s wear rate was close to 100%, purely relying on long-range weapons wouldn’t take her down. They were instead hindered by their own large numbers.

As for mecha operation, there were truly few in the current Human Alliance who could compare with her. This had to be acknowledged. To capture and eliminate the traitor of the Alliance Military Department, Su Jiameng, they laid a meticulous trap. But after fifteen days, having chased her across six abandoned planets, her combat strength remained robust, while they suffered significant losses...

If Su Jiameng knew what they were thinking, she would surely scoff. Heavy losses? The ones she took down were all players, who could bounce back with just some lost experience points—what loss is that? To speak of losses, her losses were indeed enormous.

After fifteen days of intense non-stop combat, even with her strong spiritual power, she was struggling. During this time, she had scrapped thirteen mechas, and the one she was currently piloting was the last one... Of course, this old buddy’s wear rate was too high, likely to be scrapped in three minutes too. Taking a look at the mecha’s weapon reserves, a cold smirk appeared on her lips...

These foolish players, thinking she, the BOSS, was so easy to take down?

Just as everyone was closing in their defenses in the sky, that mecha suddenly vanished from sight. A short-range space jump! Almost simultaneously, the ice-blue mecha appeared a kilometer away, its large-caliber Energy Cannon fully charged. The dazzling pure blue light shot out, illuminating the entire sky, engulfing all the mechas contracting their defenses within the Energy Cannon’s blast radius!

The damage from the powerful recoil brought the mecha’s wear level directly to the zero point, causing it to plummet straight down from the sky, crashing onto the rooftop of an abandoned skyscraper, piercing through layer after layer until a loud explosion echoed...

Before long, the main pursuing force arrived. Apart from a few NPCs, the rest were all players.

Since they hadn’t received the system notification of the target BOSS’s death, they knew that person was still alive, though her health was rapidly depleting and she probably wouldn’t survive much longer. The player commanding the BOSS raid distributed tasks, sending ground forces to search for the BOSS’s shadow, and high-altitude forces to continue scanning, determined to capture her this time!
