Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1642: Chapter 220: Hill, Want to Exchange Information?

”Didn’t... didn’t notify him?” Yunfeng asked in surprise, ”But the stories about the Greek gods leaving seem to all say...”

”No, it was Poseidon who said it himself.” Hill confirmed, ”Zeus ran off on his own.

Before leaving... he notified Hades’ consort queen, so the Netherworld followed along.

On Poseidon’s side, there were no women involved with Zeus, so they knew nothing until Triton, who liked playing in the river, discovered that all the Greek pantheons were empty, and they realized if they didn’t leave it would be too late.

So when the Poseidon Pantheon first started moving, they were quite unhappy, because they left in such a hurry that many treasures left in other places couldn’t be taken.

Speaking of which, Poseidon’s daughter, not just one, married into other pantheons, reportedly because their place of landing needed some external recognition.”

”Why?” Yunfeng asked with genuine confusion, ”Poseidon, I know his relations with most of the Greek deities are poor, and his wife and children usually play on their own.

But it shouldn’t have reached a point where they watched as if they were going to their deaths, right?

Also, putting aside others, didn’t Athena notify Triton?

Her apology to her friend is just changing a name?”

”I don’t know much.” Hill said gently, ”But you should understand one thing.

In any world, once the energy for deities to survive begins to retreat, it surely starts with the sky and land, with the sea being affected last.

Triton and his mother wouldn’t do anything rash because they found their energy retained more than other deities, but Poseidon wouldn’t hesitate.

During the last period when the Greek gods remained on their native land, Poseidon was almost universally hated.

As for Athena... Mr. Yunfeng, don’t you know how she was born?

How could she consider father-daughter relationships... Greek deities don’t have such things.

Whether one can survive depends on having a good mother.”

Yunfeng couldn’t help scratching his head, ”The aftereffects of a matriarchal society transitioning to a patriarchal society?”

”What are you talking about?” Hill asked expressionlessly.

Even though William added shielding and isolation without translating these original words of the Undead Tribe, the illusion-based shielding was of no use to Hill.

His approach wasn’t to guard against those deities who knew the origins of the Undead Tribe... but against mages and demigods who couldn’t leave their own world, or even some lower rank divine power, who couldn’t see how vast and infinite the Multiverse really was, or perceive how complex the human species’ future is.

They have enough intelligence and logic to learn an unknown language, but they may not have the willpower to understand and accept the implicit meanings in the Undead Tribe’s words.

William didn’t expect Hill to understand because he knew Hill’s ability to see through illusions was blessed by the Teraxil Silvermoon, and the illusion technique level within this shielding force had long surpassed Silvermoon’s ability.

So, in his mind, what Hill should hear was a beautiful praise... William, that guy, had broken down all the hymns relating to deities connected to the Undead Tribe into countless phrases, randomly playing them as needed.

Anyone with a bit of familiarity with the Undead Tribe knows that once they suddenly start praising a deity mid-conversation, it’s because they’ve said something they shouldn’t have again.

Of course, swearing is also possible.

Not everyone, when angry or careless, can subconsciously avoid all default swear words like Black Rose’s Clan Leader, substituting them effortlessly with more and longer adjectives to convey the meaning of a couple of words.

Hill initially didn’t realize why he could hear such true words, after all, the illusion technique of the strongest Toril deities could somewhat blind his vision.

He later realized... it was because of the soul shard from the Goddess of the Earth.

She had become increasingly powerful.

And the soul shard she had completely given to Hill, though lacking in further functions, wouldn’t directly put Hill on the path to deityhood, but it ensures his soul isn’t affected by any power inferior to hers.

In addition to the World Tree’s Force of Nature, which exists in almost every world... this means that no world can obscure Hill’s soul force.

The blessing of the Teraxil Silvermoon is directly written in Hill’s mental sea and naturally grows stronger with the strength of his soul.

Otherwise, Hill wouldn’t have dared to enter a world he knew nothing about... in a world of the Earth Deity System, no matter how powerful the deities, they absolutely couldn’t suppress his soul, turning him into some kind of puppet.

If it were a world belonging to the Fire Element or Darkness System, Hill would definitely be much more cautious... unless absolutely necessary, he’d avoid entering.

Yunfeng laughed awkwardly for a few moments: ”Ah~ unpleasant truths, Hill, no need to mind, you know us, we always speak without a filter.

”So, it’s still mostly because of Poseidon’s own reasons, right?”

”It should be.” Hill paused for a few seconds before answering, ”Poseidon was never one to be abandoned without reason and not complain loudly about it. Even when his daughter eloped, the whole Multiverse knew about his ranting.

He even had mortals convey a message to the Lady of Pain, asking her to personally deal with the anger of her betrayed fiancé... Back then, Mark City was already very powerful.

So, he definitely wasn’t innocent.

Of course, it could also be because he felt that by not following the Greek Gods, his luck and the outcome would be better. That’s why he was so generous not to curse the God Master who secretly set off.”

”Snow Cloud Peak” chuckled softly, ”Hill~ we both know very well that the Greek Gods will be our focus in the future~

So, in consideration of our relationship over the years, can you share what you know with me?

You see, even though we aren’t short on manpower, why waste so much time?

If something doesn’t need to be kept secret, let’s chat about it~

I promise, once I have new information, no matter how big or small, I’ll share it with you immediately, okay?

Don’t worry about William... Even though he wouldn’t laugh out loud publicly, who knows, he might be chuckling every day while lying on the lap of the beautiful Lady of the Dark Night!”

Hill hesitated for a moment, but was eventually convinced... He actually had quite a bit of confidence in the information-gathering ability of the Undead Tribe, at least, stronger than his own.

He slowly began to speak, ”The deity named Zeus, although still in existence, has been almost perpetually asleep, nearly drifting off to the Stellar Realm.

Apparently, the primary deities of the Greek Gods are almost all asleep, and it’s uncertain if they will awaken in 100,000 years.”

Their battle seemed extremely perilous, and even the Gods of Order on the Heavenly Mountain, who were steadfast in not getting involved in others’ domestic affairs, were alarmed.

However, it also seemed to be because, at that time, it was just when Hell was being reshuffled again, and their battle almost affected the progress of the Lord of Hell in reorganizing Hell. Therefore, the Gods of Order, bound by contracts they couldn’t break, had to intervene to resolve the issue.

This event, being intertwined with both the Heavenly Mountain and Hell, seems to have been recorded by some mages with significant dealings with devils, as it happened during the initial establishment of Hell’s rules.

Let me think, what those books say is...

When the Greek Gods left their birthplace, it could actually be described as sneaking away, abandoning many pieces... stuff behind.

But they all left, along with their abyssal prison of Titans and once-gods, which also exited that world... it’s unknown if it was cast out by that world.

In any case, once this prison named Hell emerged, it merged directly into the real Hell.

And then, because of the arrival of the Lord of Hell with the Fallen Angel, it was completely opened, and those deities, or rather Titans, eagerly converted into devils and launched an attack on Mount Olympia.

The final result was Mount Olympia devastated, although at that time, it seems they weren’t completely finished yet.

Zeus’s lightning could even penetrate the nine layers of hell, directly injuring Artemos’s body.

Then, to appease these unfortunate Greek deities, Mount Olympia, although non-compliant with many requirements of the Heavenly Mountain, was allowed in by the Lords of Order.

After that, I’m not too sure what happened... It’s unclear why, but after a while, Zeus fell into a deep sleep all of a sudden.

There are rumors that the atmosphere of the Heavenly Mountain wasn’t quite suitable for the Greek Gods, leading to minor internal disputes... It seems Hades also entered the Heavenly Mountain at that time.

It appears he wanted to relocate some Greek deities who didn’t adapt well to the Heavenly Mountain, but Zeus wanted him to leave on his own... there’s not much content on this aspect.

This is all I know.

However, it’s said that Coron once had interactions with a beautiful Moon Goddess with a bow and arrow on Mount Olympia... I read it in a Book of Dragons recorded by an Elf, though I don’t know if it’s true.”

”Snow Cloud Peak” chuckled slightly... It’s clear that Hill hasn’t been idle. He must have gone through all the information he could find during this time to know the current status of such an obscure deity.

However, since Hill knows so much, there must be some connections in Candlekeep with Greek Gods’ content... Oh right, who did Ambori mention last time?

The Main God of the Serpent People, right?

Ambori may be somewhat naive, but she’s existed as a Natural God on Toril for a very long time!

Her casual mention likely indicates that the Greek Gods and the Serpent People Empire, which rebooted Toril last time, have some ties... she must have sensed a familiar aura to say so.
