Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1623: Chapter 201: Miss Ruth Stocking Up at the Silvermoon Temple

”Snow Cloud Peak” didn’t find Hill’s ”feeling quite normal” all that surprising.

Their Little Bear, in every aspect, is truly an Earth Bear... even among Earth Bears, it could be described as one with a sharp mind. Their immense strength made many small matters of little concern to them.

If it wasn’t for having enough good luck, with Hill’s bear temper, who knows how many times he would have faced hardship.

Perhaps the World Tree knew its own grandson was like a redwood reaching into the sky, and thus granted him enough fortune to evade those dirty tricks.

Moreover, Hill was actually quite indifferent to matters that had nothing to do with him, unless there was fun to be had.

Therefore, he wouldn’t bother analyzing what those subtle feelings ultimately mean.

As long as things are roughly alright, he goes along.

Just like now, Hill insists on staying at Aesces without moving, clearly intending to watch the fun.

However, without the Undead Tribe here serving as the main force for digging up fun, if Hill was left to mess around himself, he might just turn and leave.

For Hill, there is some excitement to watch, but it’s not worth it for him to personally get involved to find it; after all, if he can’t see it, he won’t be anxious.

As for benefits... so far, nothing has been powerful enough to make Hill relinquish his freedom.

Just like in Toril, when they reviewed after Hill left, they got quite a lot of past information from Lynn... everything there could tempt deities, but Hill just lightly tossed it aside, taking nothing but knowledge.

The Path of Destiny even unfolded right under his nose... he knew Ellie’s identity from the very beginning.

At that time, not to mention William, even Celene and Shaer were in the dark!

Yet he could watch quietly as clouds rise and fall, winds come and go.

It was only because of Talos, ah no, Gewoosh’s exposure that there was some emotional turbulence.

For someone like Hill, naturally, he couldn’t be overly concerned with Lucimar’s love and hate... unless this mage happened to dance right before his eyes.

However, ”Snow Cloud Peak” is indeed very interested.

He even had the Undead Tribe that filmed the conflict send him the scenes, along with past records related to these two people... situations of Lucimar and Ruth where one chases and the other escapes, where one stirs trouble and the other resolves it, are like small performances for many in the Undead Tribe, and of course some would be influenced.

Then he sat in the command tower, repeatedly watching.

Finally, a smile appeared... that is not respect, Hill.

That is dread.

Lucimar expresses firm rejection with the most respectful and passionate attitude.

Interestingly, Ruth does believe, with full justification, that Lucimar should listen to her, that everything she does is for Lucimar’s good.

And she is unusually vigilant towards others in the Ismael family’s factions.

Even when Lucimar often does perplexing things and says naive and foolish words, Ruth can skillfully smooth over the chaos.

Yet Lucimar never expressed gratitude to her, merely ending his provocations obediently.

It seems more like a compromise to a woman he liked rather than genuine submission... no, Lucimar’s feelings for Ruth indeed have some affection.

But more of it is dread.

Well, but that dread only fleetingly appears... how should one put it, it’s that millisecond sensation that is quickly replaced by warmth.

Hill not noticing is quite normal; Lucimar doesn’t always feel dread.

Perhaps the time he danced before Hill was routine for Lucimar, hence his emotions were not as erratic.

Only when other members of the Ismael family are present does he show such behavior.

”Snow Cloud Peak” seriously pondered... Lucimar’s behavior does not seem like he worries that Ruth or those behind her would harm anyone from the Ismael family.

Moreover, having discovered Ruth’s targeting of those people, he chose a girlfriend who is a high-level mercenary... and this lady’s dwelling is surrounded by her teammates and comrades.

Some might guess he’s guarding against his brothers and sisters, but ”Snow Cloud Peak” didn’t sense fear of those people from him.

What he truly worries about is Ruth, who is wholeheartedly for his good.

How could it be? No, why is it?

”Snow Cloud Peak” quickly lowered his head to type a few lines on the tablet.

The Ismael family’s business association naturally occupies the best positions on Basia’s commercial street.

After the Stelter family’s Hall of Abundance closed, nobles naturally chose this association for some expensive goods that maintain their dignity. The Finch family’s association is also good, but they primarily deal in Alchemical Oddities and rarely sell luxury items unrelated to magic.

President Lucimar rarely handles trivial matters, so Vice-President Ruth has had to start early and return late, busy every day.

She also had to ensure the young master wouldn’t be taken advantage of by others, which exhausted Ruth, her stunning face now showing rare fatigue.

Unfortunately, Lucimar is adamant about not going to the desert.

After all, are there any beautiful women in the desert?

No matter how beautiful a woman is, if she rolls around in a sandstorm and can’t bathe, no one would care to look.

As for the Undead Tribe, no matter how beautiful they are, there is no way she could have any association with him!

How could Lucimar ever want that?

Lucy thought with a bit of melancholy, whenever Lucimar faced her, he was always enthusiastic yet evasive, wasn’t it because once he truly established a relationship with her, he would have to give up those carefree days outside!

She sighed softly, looked at the bright moon in the sky, and slowly walked back to her room at the top of the chamber of commerce.

Lucy had always been cautious.

She knew very well that the people of the Ismael Family hate her, this assistant who has been helping Lucimar all the way to today, even more than Lucimar, and might make a move against her.

So the first thing Lucy did every time she returned to her room was to take out two bottles of Holy Water and spray them everywhere with a nozzle, leaving no inch uncovered.

Then she took out a bottle of Moonlight Dew and drank it in one gulp.

Finally, she filled the bath for a soak to relieve her fatigue...using only the Magic Condensed Water she herself conjured, and the potion in the bath was also something she had refined herself.

The defensive and warding arrays in the room were never turned off, and she checked the energy left in the energy crystal stones in the arrays every day.

Even someone as cautious as her had accidentally gotten hurt.

Lucy lifted one leg and looked at the cut on her foot caused by the web of a Mutated Silk Spider. With some concern, she took out a bottle of High-level Holy Water from the Silvermoon Temple and gently sprinkled it on.

Fortunately, no black smoke appeared.

Relieved, Lucy lay back in the water, snorted coldly: she would never let the person who pushed her into the spider web today get away with it!

Lucimar... why hasn’t he come back after something like this happened to her?

She lay silently in the water, feeling a question arise from the depths of her heart: Is all this effort worth it?

Lucimar, when will he give up the alluring world outside and turn his attention to her?

If...if she had more power, would that make Lucimar...no, no, she couldn’t do that, nor should she think that way.

If it weren’t for the madam, she would have been sold to a Mage Tower as an experimental subject by her greedy relatives long ago...and back then, that lecherous Delgado also had his eyes on her.

Just thinking about the Female Mage who sat on Delgado’s lap back then, who had once stood with her waiting to be chosen by a mage, made Lucy shiver involuntarily.

For Mage Apprentices like them, destiny could change with the snap of a finger.

Lucy tightly closed her eyes, thinking of herself and those children waiting to be chosen: with decent talents, they could be selected by Archmages, yet not so outstanding as to be fought over by mages, so wanting a better future required sacrificing a lot.

Once inside Delgado’s Magic Tower, the future was almost sealed.

At that time, Delgado had actually already chosen her...other mages wouldn’t risk clashing with an Alchemist Association vice chairman over someone like her with such talents.

Fortunately, the madam...happened to be looking for some children who could learn magic with her son and picked her out at a glance.

Lucy could never forget the scene of the madam pointing at her and speaking proudly to that lustful old man.

No matter what happens, she would never betray the madam!

The madam wanted her to support Young Master Lucimar, and she would certainly make Young Master Lucimar become a true heir of the Ismael Family!

Those women, those filthy bastards, shouldn’t even think about laying a hand on their Young Master!

Indeed... Lucy suddenly sat up, splashing water all around, and directly pulled out a bottle of Silvermoon Holy Water to splash around her...aside from the commotion she herself made, there was no other reaction.

Was she hallucinating?

Lucy walked out of the bath with furrowed brow, pursed her lips, and stood in front of the mirror, carefully observing her eyes...the silver specks in her eyes remained silent.

She felt slightly reassured: as long as the mental block the madam had placed on her was still there, she would never be controlled by an Evil God like Ellie was!

Lucy lifted her foot; the wound had finally healed completely with the help of the Silvermoon Holy Water...she originally intended to save this bottle of Holy Water, but in the end...never mind, she would go buy a few more bottles at the Silvermoon Temple in the morning.

She didn’t want to become a sacrifice to Rose...she was Lucy, and she always would be.

”You want to find Rose?” Hill for the first time thought that ’Snow Cloud Peak’ might truly be a bit mad.

It’s no wonder that someone who could say such things would be cursed by his enemies as a mad dog.

”Exactly~” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ said mysteriously, ”Mr. Hill, I discovered someone has suddenly become a bit too fanatical about Silvermoon Holy Water.

Heh heh~ For three consecutive days, they’ve been going to the Silvermoon Temple for supplies daily!”
