Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1622: Chapter 200: Lucimar’s Strange Attitude

Although Aesces is increasingly letting things slide—ah, no, letting go—but in summary, suffice it to say, the Undead Tribe’s goals have basically been accomplished.

The same goes for Triton.

Even though Hill never asked Aesces what Triton has conceded, from the chain of islands ranging from small to large, suddenly rising from the seabed, crisscrossing the ocean and between continents, one can see that this Sea Messenger did indeed do something.

Previously, there weren’t so many islands on the ocean.

Triton’s ability to control the ocean is indeed not weak, but islands, after all, are connected to the land, and the more they are, the easier it is for Aesces’ power to invade.

Therefore, don’t think that just because the world has turned into a desert due to Triton’s invasion, that Aesces’ abilities are weak.

He just has a somewhat stubborn head and is prone to tunnel vision; perhaps this is a common problem of an Earth Deity purely transformed by the Earth System Law.

The sea changes maybe many Aescian people haven’t reacted to yet, including the Danboro people.

But in the desert, the nimble Undead Tribe swiftly took care of or expelled those families daring to collaborate with Eosca, prompting many to take action.

They learned something during Lind’s rise to become Baron Cain; even if the Undead Tribe wants to stake a claim in Danboro, they need a local noble to act as a facade.

Danboro people clearly understand that the Undead Tribe were hired mercenaries by the World Master, and even if they stay in Aesces for a long time, that time is ultimately limited.

Moreover, this time the Undead Tribe is noticeably more ethical and disciplined compared to the last Moon Clan.

That will suffice.

If such benefits are attainable, and especially so great, the nobles could even collaborate with devils, let alone merely feigning innocence temporarily!

If Lind can do it, they surely can as well.

So, even though many family messengers have already arrived at Basia City, they keep postponing their departure to Cain Valley due to various troubles.

And as for ’Snow Cloud Peak’, since Proud Sky Alliance’s primary goal has shifted to the ocean, whether those nobles come or don’t, or when, is already not so important to him... If they come, he will naturally fight for the best treatment for the Undead Tribe; at least the cooperating family should be decided by the desert’s Undead Tribe, or at least a popular vote should be held.

If they don’t come, it would be nice for the desert to have freedom to maneuver, with all places as battlefields, without being restrained by the presence of NPCs.

He is merely the Commander, leaving the Scattered Ones with opportunities and prospects they should have, not acting as their parent.

The degree to which the Scattered Ones and those small families can achieve in the desert, of course, depends on their own efforts.

As for what will happen after the Black and White Path people arrive, it will depend on how Ink Brush perceives things at that time... after all, this family once thought about breaking away, who knows if they still have such intentions now?

When others haven’t actively requested things from him, considering matters so thoroughly for them, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ believes... Heh... better to forget it~

The meticulous style akin to a Road Eunuch, is something he absolutely can’t achieve... He prefers strategizing in the game, where he can find a trace of the past, but has no need to live within the game, why make things difficult for himself?

Anyway, his primary goal has been achieved, and the secondary goal does not require urgency.

Moreover, if the other side could be more tense, it would only benefit him more.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ looked down at the intelligence in hand... Because those families who arrived first didn’t want to set off early, the Danboro people are playing brilliantly in Basia City.

With no choice, they’ve even brought out Mutated Silk Spiders.

Ha~ that’s quite a skill, finding the host of the Mutated Silk Spiders so quickly amidst the Undead Tribe’s rampant sweeping... The most jaw-dropping part for ’Snow Cloud Peak’ is that instead of destroying the Silk Spiders, the nobles’ first reaction is how to activate them to harm their political enemies.

Even the shopkeeping members of the Last-Era Clan, who remained holed up in the city, happily received a considerable amount of military exploits.

Truly it’s like sitting at home and joy descends from above!

Just as they were urgently called out by people madly rushing into the adjacent refuge hall, a dozen small spiders appeared before their eyes.

Then came the delightful harvest.

And even more delightfully, they witnessed a grand drama accusing each other of carrying contraband and baseless framing.

Ditte has even reduced communication time with his younger brother due to this messy competition all over the city.

However, he is quite grateful for these events and happily asked the Undead Tribe to spread the news throughout Danboro Kingdom.

How to put it... Basia City and their Stelter Family have indeed provided quite some fun for nobles everywhere recently.

Especially Ellie.

Countless people are saying that Count Stelter’s efforts to transition to a magical nobility are akin to having a life as fragile as paper, a heart as lofty as the sky, and deserve to be torn apart!

If it wasn’t that Count Stelter retreated so abruptly, even though he clings to castle power, external authority keeps shifting towards Ditte.

It’s because all the efforts he made over the years have gone down the drain.

If it weren’t for the fact that the Stelter family’s legitimate line consists of only this branch, according to the nobles’ under-the-table rules, even the family’s power might be transferred to someone else’s hands.

Although all that is happening now cannot stop others from mocking the Stelter family, for the nobles, their own interests are more important.

Rather than sitting together to spread gossip about the Stelter family’s scandals, they should be more eager to bash those who are trying to deceive them!

As long as the great nobility no longer use the Stelter family as ingredients for afternoon tea, the family’s issues will eventually fade away.

However, the behavior of another person has made ’Snow Cloud Peak’ find it quite intriguing.

Lucimar seems neither anxious nor particularly concerned about whether to come to Cain Valley.

Although quite a few people from the Ismael family have come, how should I put it, they don’t seem to be on the same wavelength.

They are wary of each other, yet together they deal with this Lucimar.

Of course, they haven’t done anything, they just pay close attention to this young master’s daily performance... clearly trying to ascertain if he truly has no interest in the territory beyond the desert.

Only one person, Lucimar’s beautiful deputy, openly asks him to pay attention to this matter: even if he doesn’t get any title, he can at least cooperate with the Undead Tribe to mine the energy deposits in the desert.

In this weather, even wearing the best equipment and drinking the coolest potions, Danboro people cannot survive outside the oasis in the desert.

Especially on larger energy mines, the flying scorpions are more numerous, and their strength becomes increasingly formidable.

To mine, one must first battle these Earth Elemental creatures.

It has to be professionals of intermediate level or higher, with at least a thousand people, to barely be able to handle ordinary-level energy mines.

But who can afford to hire them?

It’s not like Danboro has energy mines only in the desert; some can always be found in the highlands and hills.

Though everyone understands that once these are all mined out, people will ultimately turn back to the desert, until resources are depleted, who can make these thriving mid-level professionals risk their lives?

Anyway, these great nobles of Danboro can’t accomplish it.

But the Undead Tribe is different!

With elemental bodies provided by Aesces, they naturally have Earth-system resistance; even in the desert, they can move freely.

Even the Earth Lords in their juvenile stage aren’t opponents to these outsiders.

But since the Earth Lords currently belong to the Neutral Faction, as long as they don’t proactively display hostility, the Undead Tribe couldn’t care less about these scorpions without military exploits or experience.

If it weren’t for these Earth Lord creatures occasionally going mad upon discovering an oasis, Danboro people wouldn’t know how easily the Undead Tribe deals with them!

If it weren’t for the existence of the Undead Tribe, these great nobles of Danboro probably wouldn’t have renewed their interest in the oasis.

The Ismael family’s thinking is quite normal, given that the Alchemist family has the highest demand for energy mines.

Even the Finch family, who aren’t that close to the Undead Tribe, have shown a clear interest.

However, Lucimar, who had been consistently obedient to this lady, suddenly turned vehement that day... He proclaimed that since his father sent him to Basia City, he would absolutely not choose to leave unless the Great Sage Ismael spoke.

He openly expressed dissatisfaction to Miss Ruth, who has always been devoted to him: If following Lucimar makes Miss Ruth feel aggrieved, she can return to the capital and find a more suitable master to serve.

The very beautiful lady was brought to tears by his words, yet Lucimar left triumphantly, moving into the house of a female freelancer he has a good relationship with.

Though not a maid anymore, her physique is healthy and robust, quite fitting his usual preferences.

This makes Vice-president Miss Ruth a little awkward, since Lucimar has always been quite deferential to her... except for that minor misconduct he can’t seem to give up.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ truly found it interesting.

He even asked Hill to confirm Lucimar’s attitude toward Ruth in conversation before this.

He believes no one in this world can discern better than Hill whether it’s a lie or malice.

And he received an intriguing response.

Lucimar has a respectful yet slightly timid mentality towards Ruth... Hill originally thought it was because this lady had been dispatched by the family to ensure this dissipated young master doesn’t do anything outrageous.

In the noble society, families often do this if their children are too incompetent and easily cause trouble, so Hill didn’t see anything odd about it.
