Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1497: Chapter 75: Ismael’s Painful Resolve

In the capital, Ismael was actually quite confused.

The King of Danboro, whom he always thought lacked courage and brains and could only live step-by-step, unexpectedly found his life’s climax at this moment and was determined to use the Moon Clan to clean out the traditional nobles opposing him.

Moreover, he spoke with firm conviction: What king doesn’t want to wield sole power?

What king is willing to be thwarted at every turn?

Back then, to avoid being suppressed, he could only choose within a fixed circle when marrying the Queen... not even daring to touch a real beauty, isn’t this a king’s sorrow?

Great Sage Ismael had always esteemed love, shouldn’t he sympathize with his helplessness?

This was his only chance to regain royal authority, Ismael, who watched him grow up, supported his father back then, why couldn’t he support him now?

Ismael was momentarily speechless, not knowing how to answer him... until he returned to his Magic Tower and realized: this kid is just talking nonsense!

Would a woman he fancies just marry him?

Wishful thinking!

Is it because he’s ugly or because he’s short?

Ismael supported the former king because he could handle everything himself, just fearful of being assassinated!

Whether commanding the army or battling wits with the Great Nobility, he did it all by himself!

Ismael only needed to smile and observe as a Protector!

Now this... an incompetent one, does he want Ismael to help govern the country?

If he wanted to do so many things, why not be king himself?

It’s not like he couldn’t do it!

So he angrily returned to the Magic Tower, found a pristine Crystal Ball in a secret room, placed his right hand on it, and loudly sought permission... to completely revoke the king’s powers.

Yes, although Ismael appeared arrogant, he clearly knew what he could and couldn’t do, and the first time Aesces contacted him in reality rather than a dream, he applied for this direct contact device.

He certainly knew why he lived so freely all these years... Ismael was always one of the Wise Ones.

Therefore, when Aesces signaled him to invite visitors from his homeland, Ismael had no hesitation, nor would he consider whether the Danboro people would suffer because of it.

For Ismael, he was, of course, willing to show his empathy, something he genuinely wanted to do... but all this love must not harm his own interests.

And Aesces’s favor was her greatest interest.

Over these past centuries, Aesces’s will aligned with the living beings of the entire world, so everyone could see the Great Sage willingly risk everything for the survival of ordinary people.

It can be said, if not for Ismael, the ordinary people of Danboro and other worlds would not have their current status.

But all of this must yield before Aesces’s will.

So, even if Aesces intended to let the King of Danboro carry on, to see if they could implement elections like Ismael’s homeland... Ismael only grit his teeth and advised a few times.

Of course, it wasn’t as if he hadn’t tried; to make Aesces understand the gravity of the situation, he solemnly recounted his homeland’s bloody history, an epic of sadness, clearly stating that a final failure was almost certain.

But Aesces felt it was worth a try.

Because of Ismael’s invention and promotion of Crystal Energy Technology, Aesces’s mortals had reached the lowest point of reverence for deities, especially the Ocean God.

Triton wanted to regain past authority, but it wasn’t that easy... after the Silk Spider threat was discovered early thanks to the Moon Clan’s presence, it posed no threat.

Ismael didn’t understand why Aesces seemed so pleased to mention the early discovery of the Silk Spider... knowing that, as Aesces’s closest mortal, he knew this World Master genuinely had no idea about this crisis.

Almost getting tricked into an apocalypse by a toy left by an Elf, how could one be so pleased?

Ismael was silent, but it didn’t mean he wasn’t secretly mocking.

Moreover, he felt Aesces was oversimplifying.

If she wanted the nobles and king to suffer mutual destruction, then, unless the Moon Clan stopped their summons.

Yet, this world wasn’t just Danboro!

Who knows what the situation is now in the neighboring Desert Kingdom!

That group loves to play with bugs, and those who breed Silk Spiders are everywhere.

Even though plants are rare in the desert, who can say mutated plants only exist with the Stelter Family’s Yunlan?

Well, cactus has more juice and can blossom, can’t it?

Here is the translation:

However, before Silk Spiders turned into disasters, as the Great Sage of Danboro, the altar he used to summon the Moon Clan definitely wouldn’t be easily established in other countries.

You should know, even in Danboro, only a few cities are willing to accept this altar.

The unknown is always the most terrifying, and Ismael isn’t incapable of understanding these people’s attitudes; after all, if those people, like Basia City, can control the overflow of Silk Spiders, he wouldn’t need to interfere.

But if they can’t, well, he can only wait for the other side to plead for mercy amidst the spider webs... just wondering if the Finch Family has developed any defense methods.

Actually, Ismael could also research it, but he doesn’t want to... Defensive measures crafted by Alchemy methods are always exclusive to nobles, leaving commoners powerless.

Therefore, as long as no one has defense methods, the nobles will certainly be more anxious than anyone... and they’ll compromise very easily.

And once they can barely hold on for a period, they will surely try to gain more benefits for themselves... whether commoners will die in disasters is irrelevant to them.

After all, it’s not them doing the killing.

Not even the World Will can pin this guilt on them.

Ismael always felt that if something were to be done, it would be better to wait until the Silk Spider chaos is resolved; why risk such a big gamble?

However, Aesces believed that kings of other countries might not do something so foolish when the nation is in trouble.

With someone like the King of Danboro, finding a second one isn’t so easy!

Especially with a group of princes behind him waiting for him to die so they can seize the throne... and they all have different Great Nobles standing behind them.

This is truly a rare opportunity!

Ismael hesitated for a long time but couldn’t deny it.

If things turned out like this, wouldn’t the Danboro Royal Family be headed for extinction?

Ismael quite cherished the friendship he had with the previous two kings.

No matter what the reason was, at least they truly gave him absolute trust.

It’s just that heredity is something uncontrollable, and some people inherit only the remnants, yet they’re quite good at pretending.

Ismael was reluctant to accept it until Aesces told him that the most promising, most fortunate prince of the Danboro Royal Family was currently squatting in Basia, waiting to see the wind direction, refusing to come back to seek discomfort!

Ismael tried hard to recall for a while, before remembering which prince it was who was always silent and hidden; it seemed his name was Alexis?

Ismael understood very well Aesces’ usual style. Although he wouldn’t meddle excessively in everyone’s fate, after observing their fate lines, Aesces would grant a little luck to a key person on the path he finds most satisfying.

Thus, while everyone is taking actions according to their own will, luck tends to sway the final outcome just at the crucial moment.

Ismael felt somewhat confused; he always thought that making this decision would cost him dearly.

Hence, the current situation appeared, where Great Sage Ismael watched the situation evolve with open eyes, yet refused to make the final decision.

However, he couldn’t remain silent for long... the King of Danboro, unexpectedly aroused by some unknown stimulus, once again orchestrated the Moon Clan to deal with a small family.

The most incredible part was that this family turned out to be one of his queens’ maternal families.

Although the Fantasy World seldom fusses over such affinities, they often hold off when faced with matters.

After all, the kids in the house have someone else’s blood... if luck is peculiar, even their awakened talents might originate from the other party.

Like the King of Danboro, who recognizes no kin, focuses solely on benefits and who strikes higher positions, it genuinely sends shivers down one’s spine.

Ismael, upon confirming that the family was indeed Prince Alexis’s maternal grandmother’s family, and given that his maternal clan had already begun preparing to completely return to their own territory, could no longer hold on.

He, a loyal worker never violating Aesces, was exerting the greatest courage to negotiate with a terrifying boss for his remaining bit of conscience, yet the person he was striving to protect was desperately tying a noose around his own neck!

Just shy of asking Ismael to kick the stool out from under him!

Why was he still hesitating?

Ultimately, Danboro was still Danboro; the only thing left for Alexis was to rely on his own abilities in the future.

Ismael swiftly withdrew his fragile emotions and directly suggested to Aesces that if he truly wanted to end this stalemate quickly, he might as well find the right person and offer the Noble Coalition an opportunity to employ the Moon Clan for tasks.

Confronted with Aesces’s doubts... wouldn’t that mean having them fight among themselves? Would they be willing?

Ismael simply smiled very gently: Though I’m not deeply familiar with games here, the most popular games in our world are all competitive.

Engaging in tactical battles with people from other worlds is undoubtedly great, but absolutely nothing beats competing with your own.

Therefore, when Prince Alexis trotted along a letter, angrily galloped on horseback, and dashed into Stelter Castle, Hill simultaneously heard this intriguing news: Great Sage Finch had been continuously successful on the road to digging out Great Sage Ismael’s foundation.

This time, even acquiring authority from Aesces to issue faction tasks to the Moon Clan!
