Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1478: Chapter 56: The Slightly Familiar Little Building

”Port?” Count Stelter pondered and said, ”Ted, when will Joshua be able to come out?”

”In three hours.”

”Why don’t you go catch him yourself?” Finch asked in confusion, ”Is this a matter of considering status?”

”What kind of nonsense is that?” Count Stelter couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of his mouth, ”How long have we known there’s an issue with the Silk Spiders?

Anyone with a bit of sense would have run away long ago!

But I sealed the city back then, and even the Scaret Royal Family’s ship wasn’t allowed to leave, so they must be hiding somewhere.

Joshua knows the places where people can hide better.”

He turned to glance at his butler: ”Ted, go find Joshua in the places he’s closed off, and when he comes out, search the city with him leading the guards!”

Ted nodded quietly.

As the head butler of the Earl’s Mansion, following himself meant... Count Stelter’s orders... Basia City, nominally belonging to Count Stelter after all, doesn’t rely on that power because he understands the rules of the game.

And those who understand the rules who suddenly act recklessly, those who have nothing to hide naturally cooperate a bit.

Even Finch won’t make a fuss about it.

He just frowned, turned to the Earl: ”What if there’s a hidden array?

Just as well, my disciples are with Joshua, let them go too!”

Count Stelter looked at him: ”Fine, but I won’t be responsible for their safety.”

Finch curled his lip: ”No need for that from you.

This is also our Finch Family’s matter, my father is already furious, and with Great Sage Ismael’s help, they have confined the Father of Silk in his Magic Tower.

Tut, luckily we invited Great Sage Ismael.”

”When did this happen?

Did you get the news when you went back to deal with the spiders?

Um... is the Magic Tower covered entirely with Mutated Silk Spiders?” Count Stelter asked curiously, ”Chairman Finch... didn’t swallow anything, did he?”

”Shut up!” Little Finch said with a numb face, ”You dare to be disrespectful to the Great Sage!

When Great Sage Ismael discovered that the smooth outer walls of the Magic Tower were filled with Silk Spiders, he directly took out a Crystal Set from his bag that’s one size bigger than the Magic Tower.

Hehe~

My father thought that the set should also fit his Magic Tower... Using twenty Crystal Cannons to continuously bombard it, it would take three days and nights to crack it.”

”Um... aren’t the Crystal Cannons in the Royal Capital under the control of the Royal Palace?” Count Stelter suddenly laughed, ”So, with your family’s power, you only made twenty secretly?

Indeed, what Great Sage Ismael said is right, even if the blueprint is exposed, so what? Control of the core material’s mines lies with the Royal Family.”

”The Royal Family... isn’t exactly selling them off themselves?” Finch retorted sarcastically.

”Great Sage Ismael said, in the end, you must be given some hope, or else, if not a single piece can be bought, who knows what sinister means might arise!” Count Stelter said earnestly, ”Wouldn’t you?”

”Why isn’t Ismael your godfather?” Finch sneered.

”Ah... although I respect Great Sage Ismael greatly, as for blood relations, forget it.” Count Stelter quickly shook his head, ”His reverence is a bit too fond of beauty, otherwise, the blueprints for Crystalline Weapons wouldn’t have leaked out so quickly.

However, isn’t it inappropriate for you to say that?

Your Finch Family also has... I don’t want to get involved in any kinship with you, what do you say?”

”Ah...” High Priest Hamza Tote from the Earth Temple suddenly interrupted their exchange, ”Though I’m pleased to hear your conversation, there seems to be movement at the Orchid Pond.

Something is coming this way from there.”

Everyone turned to look at him.

The High Priest of the Silvermoon hurriedly spoke: ”What? Are you talking about the spiders?”

”They are too small, they can pass through the soil without even needing to dig...” Tote crouched on the ground, frowning in exploration, ”It seems some of them went towards the mountain wall.”

He raised his head and asked seriously, ”Count Stelter, did you leave enough feed for the silk spiders in that cave?”

Count Stelter shook his head, ”No, but even if the silk spiders go unfed for half a month, they would just be a bit weak, not starve to death.”

”Spiders are creatures that never show mercy to their kind; it all depends on whether they are hungry.” Tote stood up and said calmly, ”Ah... The taste at the root of the rubber plant seems to make them uncomfortable, they’re hesitating around the perimeter.”

”Where?” The Sun Priest had already taken out two bottles of different model Holy Water: In the palm-sized crystal bottle was No. 6 Holy Water—though the High Priest claimed that this Holy Water could repel mosquitoes and flies, its actual potency was quite significant, terrifying to all kinds of creatures... After all, it’s like a miniature golden flame, driving away evil and burning everything in the process.

While the other large arm-sized glass bottle contained No. 18 Holy Water: This is the medium-level Holy Water most commonly used by human adventurers, capable of expelling evil forces, but only expelling.

Tote pointed to a strange gap at the front left of the small house... ”I guess when the orchids used to be insufficient in providing food, the gardener fed them there.

Possibly, due to just waking from slumber, these spiders are reacting slowly, not showing much excitement.”

”Enter the range of the small house!” High Priest Turgay held up the Holy Water bottle, cautiously staring towards the Cloud Orchid Pond, ”The plants here have been watered with golden Holy Water for years, creating a significant deterrent to these spiders.”

Count Stelter couldn’t help but bite his cheek to control his anger: ”So, do we hide and let these spiders go elsewhere?

There are others in the castle!”

The Sun Priest hypocritically sighed, ”Ah, then why haven’t you, the Count, let your steward ask everyone to leave?

Even as an Earth Defender, Tote cannot trap them beneath the land, do you think we have the capacity to capture or even kill these spiders in an unsealed area?”

”My lord?” Ted asked softly.

They all understood that letting the non-combat capable servants and guards leave the castle would result in... some potentially problematic individuals certainly taking the opportunity to leave before Ted’s next purge.

But if they insisted on keeping everyone in the castle, it would mean danger for the loyal subordinates of the Stelter Family and their families.

With Finch and several temple priests observing him, Count Stelter truly could not bear to say he wouldn’t let people leave... He had always been a benevolent lord to his subordinates, otherwise he wouldn’t be so beloved.

But upon discovering that he might have been deceived by someone, even his own mother, until twenty years ago, Count Stelter felt unwilling to let them leave just like that.

”My lord.” Ted spoke again, ”Lady Helena has just recovered... let Miss Ellie accompany her to a safer place!”

”If these people all run, where... is still safe?” Count Stelter said coldly, ”Is Basia City problem-free?

Who knows what’s hidden at the port!”

”You see, around Mage’s Avenue, we also have two plots of land we haven’t sold.” Ted comfortingly said, ”At least, for the sake of Ellie as a student, the neighboring Grand Mage Belfran definitely wouldn’t stand by if something happened to Miss Ellie’s family.”

Count Stelter pressed his forehead and spoke softly, ”Then... never mind, family is more important. Go ahead!”

”I will soon return to meet Joshua.” Ted glanced at President Finch, speaking sincerely.

Finch gently glanced at him without saying more... Since Ted promised to take his people to handle serious matters, there’s no need to be so meticulous over little things.

Ted had just turned away but then looked back at the Count: ”My lord, Lady Helena probably won’t let Young Master Lind stay in the castle alone, so...”

”Inform Helena she can take Lind along.” Count Stelter thought for nearly a minute before speaking coldly, ”But after learning these details, if Lind intends to do anything, then... the Stelter Family already has a qualified heir, no need for any backup.

Even if something happens to Ditte, I...”

He suddenly laughed coldly, ”I could still have more children, right?”

But Helena certainly cannot have more children.

Count Stelter is threatening his child who has gone astray with the future of his beloved mother... If Lind can even abandon Helena completely, no matter what actions the Count takes, Helena will certainly not prioritize Lind like this.

Helena is indeed a rare noble woman who prioritizes children over herself, but... she is also not one to sacrifice everything for them.

Ted slightly bowed his head, ”I will truthfully report to Lady Helena.”

Then he swiftly turned and left.

The decision by the Stelter Family was quite sudden, so Hill, upon exiting the laboratory, was amazed to find a large number of simplified houses assembled from carriage compartments suddenly appeared on the two large lawns on his right side.

Amidst those houses stood an Alchemical Mini Tower... A three-story white mini tower, shimmering with mithril gleams on the tower body. The crystalline stone roof visibly designed to power the entire small house, resembling solar panels.

Hill glanced twice, unable to resist rushing to his own three-story loft... Huh? Why does the appearance of this tower seem somewhat familiar?
