Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1452: Chapter 30: An Unexpected Outcome

In a box on the east side of the Alchemy Hall, which had been quiet for some time, a certain President Finch of the Basia City Alchemist Association finally lost control of his emotions: “Vice President Delgado, please watch your words.

The Finch Family indeed has many members working in the Alchemist Association, but that’s due to our capabilities!”

“Ah~” Delgado raised an eyebrow, “The Finch lineage is truly strong! Over a hundred children all not only have Mage talents but can also become Alchemists~

Ha ha~ Even Great Sage Ismael couldn’t achieve that! Out of five sons, only one has a little talent.

His beloved youngest son’s Mage talents are so good, yet he can’t even reach the level of a mid-level Alchemist!

Tsk tsk~ Yanos, you shouldn’t blame me, your teacher, for being incompetent!

The Finch family’s talent inheritance rate is almost…”

President Finch didn’t intend to let him finish: “Vice President Delgado, Garcia City has been holding a trade fair for seven consecutive days to celebrate Miss Stelter’s advancement to Mage… Our association is also honored to add luster to Miss Ellie’s glory, so now, many things are out of stock!

If you have anything… Magical Curios you’d like to sell, you can send them over~

Anytime after tomorrow.”

“Damn it!” Ellie, standing beside Hill, couldn’t help but curse softly.

Despite whatever Count Stelter might think, Ellie hated this President Finch the most… Her former teacher was actually quite kind to her, but after letting slip a little, he was directly summoned for an interview.

The family of the other party is, after all, Royal Capital Nobles, and couldn’t possibly offend the Alchemist Association for a student not yet formally brought under its wing, eventually leaving unwillingly.

So, upon hearing him use her as a conversation starter, Ellie burst into fury…but her eyes darted around… That little package, the way it’s tied is so familiar!

Uncle Joshua specially taught her after she came of age.

Ellie decided to remain silent and see how things play out.

Hill couldn’t help but laugh… Indeed, this President Finch is quite a capable tough guy.

He first threatens Delgado not to dare talk nonsense about their Finch family, or he’d also join the Mithril auction.

He even subtly hints to this Vice President: if Delgado buys the Mithril, he might still end up a pauper, otherwise why covet Yanos’ paltry sum.

He’s already thoroughly offended the Stelter family, does he also want to completely offend the Alchemist Association?

Is he still planning to clean out his idle items?

Little Finch’s threat is particularly potent.

Even if Delgado really can rely on this piece of Mithril to advance to Great Sage, he has to first buy it!

So, after hesitating for a few seconds, Delgado directly looked at Yanos: “There’s nothing for you here, why are you still hanging around?

Hurry up and leave!

No manners, how can you interfere with so many people’s auction!”

Yanos snorted coldly, carefully reviewing the document content, finally finding two sheets to ask Delgado for his stamp: “Teacher, you should have confirmed that I haven’t taken anything from the Magic Tower that’s not mine.

Why didn’t you stamp on the items carried out from the tower?”

Delgado looked around… The people from Garcia City seem to prefer watching the drama, completely uninterested in whether the auction would be delayed.

What’s going on?

If this were the Capital, the nobles would just be anxious for the auction to end quickly… Otherwise, what if someone gets more money before it ends?

Basia City’s people don’t care.

This piece of Mithril evidently will only belong to some High-level Mage, everyone tried to earn a margin, but failing that, it’s fine.

Seeing a Sage, and maybe soon a Great Sage, put up such a shameless public display… Many are glad their admission ticket money wasn’t wasted!

Delgado knows he can’t delay any longer… He reluctantly stamps.

Yanos almost snatches away the two sheets as soon as Delgado raises his hand, and after carefully confirming, without saying goodbye, pushed the door and strode out.

“Ah…” Ellie couldn’t help but sigh, “If it were me, I might have just grabbed the document and left.

Indeed, so many pitfalls!

Truly scary.”

Hill blinked: “This is… the prototype of an academic faction?”

He couldn’t help recalling the academies of Toril and Teraxil.

Then he frowned.

If it were Toril, an apprentice like Yanos wouldn’t be suppressed so miserably… They’d have eliminated this stupid teacher long ago.

No one would care.

Toril is always power above all.

Even in the strictest master-student relationships of the Red Robe Mage as well… Though they’ve conned numerous students, countless have also killed their teachers in retaliation.

Only when abilities are comparable does Toril talk about interests… For example, Silvermoon City and Agleya’s University Town.

It seems like a place for free spell trade, but in reality, it’s the lord who uses strong power to ensure the fairness of the transactions.

Teraxil, on the other hand, is a bit troublesome.

The God of Time and Space and William have used their powerful force to support an academy system, ensuring a relatively equal relationship between teachers and students… in terms of life.

No one dares to kill easily.

The control teachers have over students is actually very weak… including some students Adrian later chose to start their advanced career at the Magic Tower.

Adrian can choose not to accept a certain student, but he cannot directly kill a student that offends him… because regardless of who they are, they are registered.

Not wanting to annoy William over such small matters, Adrian might at most expel the student who made a mistake.

Therefore, the various academies at the early stage certainly had no big problems, since Saral needed talents.

Various types of talents.

The relationship between students and teachers is actually quite simple; if they like each other, they get along, if not, they leave.

But after a few hundred years… as the human population grows and positions are no longer easy to secure upon graduation, the demand for recommendations from mentors and academies will increase, won’t teachers like Delgado also emerge?

Sufficient rewards could even bring saints down from the altar, let alone ordinary mortals!

Even if William’s supervision is strict, he can’t ensure there are no loopholes to exploit.

Hill glanced at the pen in his hand… it seems, situations like Yanos’s are extremely rare, so the Basia people are almost dumbfounded watching the show.

So, in the World of Aesces, is it just starting to have people like this, or does it have its own methods to control the occurrence of such things?

Hill’s interest was instantly piqued.

He planned to carefully observe this world undergoing transformation.

The intense political struggles in Danboro, to put it plainly, are just new forces competing with the old entrenched powers for discourse rights, aren’t they?

Even in the World Without Magic, there would be rivers of blood.

This is a process that All Gods cannot intervene in, it inevitably occurs, doesn’t it?

Although the deities of Teraxil aren’t as completely isolated as in Aesces, they are very reluctant to receive faith, and their direct influence on mortals must be increasingly lowered.

Including those noble and the God of Monarchy pair of scoundrels.

Right now, they only care about the survival of the entire human race, not intervening much in internal human conflicts.

Even the Church has become quite lax, insisting solely that a Professional may not necessarily be a Noble, but a Noble must certainly be a Professional.

Hill listened to the auction hall restarting the bidding, smiled and turned to Ellie, “If he becomes a Great Sage, would today’s events be forgotten?”

“How could that be?” Ellie instantly shook her head, “Even Great Sage Ismael gets scolded for some small matters in the past!

However, once you reach the level of a Great Sage, you can apply to go to the sky, can you!

Perhaps Delgado thinks, since reaching there is no different from reaching another world, it’s unnecessary to care about how many people scold him in Danboro.”

Hill said quietly, “Up in the sky?

Ah, you mean the Heavenly Realm!

A place where level 16 is the lowest, All Gods can still freely enter, how can he think he’ll do well there?”

Ellie laughed playfully, “Maybe because there are not so many Finches?”

Hill chuckled.

Then there was a decision outside: “Congratulations to the gentleman in position 18, for purchasing this Mithril at 9 million!”

Hill and Ellie both leaned forward in surprise… Delgado lost?

It turned out that someone sitting in the hall won?

“Damn it!” Delgado shouted angrily, yet as soon as he wanted to move, two rows of cannon barrels flipped out directly on each side of the window box of the Stelter Family on the north side of the auction hall.

Though the cannon diameters weren’t large, there were over a hundred of them, clearly aiming in different directions.

With just a glance, Hill could confirm that these Crystal Energy Cannons could precisely block all areas.

Delgado froze.

His eyeballs shrank to the extreme, nearly only showing the whites.

Then, he viciously looked at the young man wearing a blue-black metallic mask on the sofa seat at position 18.

The gentleman at position 18 leisurely clapped to celebrate himself, completely ignoring those quickly evacuating for fear of being caught up, nor did he care about the glaring death stare from upstairs on the west side of the hall.

Hill sincerely sighed, “Brave, insightful, and wealthy, maybe even looking good… this is truly a winner in life!”

“Oh my!” Count Stelter pushed open the box’s glass window, said with a beaming smile, “I truly didn’t expect such an unexpected outcome!

But this is also a great thing indeed!”

Count Stelter completely ignored the angry look from the west side, cheerfully said, “As more and more people appear who can participate in such competitions, it will make Basia even more prosperous!”
